About Glyph Reporter

Ever wish you could remember which of your alts needed which Glyphs?  That's the question Glyph Reporter answers.

Glyph Reporter manages what Glyphs are needed on a realm-by-realm basis.  When a Glyph is hovered over , the tooltip reports any known characters needing that glyph.  It makes inscription disbursement quick and easy.

I plan on adding more robust features as time permits, including a character purge feature and addon options like text color variants.

Starting version 1.3, Glyph Reporter should work regardless of which language it's installed on.

***Starting with version 1.6.4 Cross Realm for US and EU is Supported***

Due to some issues with how Regions are handled since WoD came out, there isn't a good way to tell what Region your server is programatically.  I can check the Region WoW was installed in but not the server's region.  So, to get around this, I implemented a new setting in the Interface/Addons tab.  In there, you can toggle between US and EU servers.  If you are having issues with connected server characters not showing up, try checking that setting to make sure it matches the server you are currently logged in on.

Essentially, doing things this way allows me to support people that might play on both EU and US servers.

Been looking for a addon like this, thanks :)

Have you considered adding in the Sort Feature:  Sort by Alts, and then the names of you alts would show up allowing you to select them all.

    Just an possible enhancement.

Also if there would be a way to use the inspect feature to help a fellow player or guildie.  It could bark a list of missing glyphs that you have the ability to make for them?  -

I've been pondering a reverse lookup feature where you pick a databased alt and it shows all glyphs still needed.  It might be a bit more useful and could springboard a revamp of the database management I've been dragging my feet on since kicking this project off.

As for looking up other players or guildies that need them, the reason I haven't done so is two-fold.   First off, I'm not sure it's possible to get Glyph information directly from Blizzard's servers.  Second, assuming it's possible to get the data, it would be traffic intensive to query every member of a guild for the necessary data. Still, if I can figure out a valid way to grab that data directly, I'd be willing to look into seeing just what sort of impact it'd make.

Sorry for the delay, they are all on the same server and same faction.  It seems like the issue is the monk, the other classes all seem to be working but the monk's missing glyphs are not showing up.

Exactely the same for me, it shows for all my chars except the Monk.

Thanks for the heads up!  Monk, eh?  That's a direction to check up on.  I'll see if I can't track down what the issue is.

    * Edit:  I'm a goober.  I'd forgotten I didn't have Monks in the comparison database at the time when I changed over to the localization.  I've added them in and tested on my monk alt.  It seems to be working.  The new patch I'm pushing will add that functionality in.  Sorry gang!

Glyph of Transcendence isn't showing as not yet learned/ needed by.

  • #20

    altoholic already does this btw

  • #21

Yeah, I learned that after I'd made this.  I'd been using it but for some reason, it never worked right for me.  The databases always gave errors.  I think that's why I didn't realize it had this feature.  I'm still going to support this...

    FINALLY THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!!! *bowtoground* *notworthy*

LOVE this! Normally I rely on Armory to tell me who has what at what level/quantity, but ever since Cata came out the glyph tracking doesn't seem to work anymore. This addon is precisely what the doctor ordered!  Cool

Fix the problem, not the blame

My pleasure.  Let me know if you have any problems or recommendations for additions.  I'm always looking to improve things.  At the moment, I'm looking to expand the database cleanup a bit more than a hamfisted total wipe...

The addon doesn't seem to work consistenly.  I can get it to work with some of my characters but not all of them.  I'm not sure if there is a text command to get the addon to record what glyphs they do and don't have.  Also it works some a 60, and an 85, but not some of the same or higher/lower level, so I don't think the level is the issue.  The classes it has worked with so far for me are a DK and druid in case you needed to know.

  • #17

Are they all on the same server?  Also, are you not getting anything on the tooltip or is it just missing names of characters you have on that server?

  • #22

Sorry for the delay, they are all on the same server and same faction.  It seems like the issue is the monk, the other classes all seem to be working but the monk's missing glyphs are not showing up.

Ugh, looks like an artifact from the old interface krept into my last push.  I'll get that wiped out.  Strangely, it wasn't failing when I loaded it on my system.  It should have shown the same error to me...

*Edit: I stripped out the old unnecessary code and updated.  It worked when I ran it on my test client.  Thanks for the update, hopefully that bug's squashed.
