About GTFO

Stop standing in fire!

GTFO provides an audible alert when you're standing in something you're not supposed to be standing in. In some cases, you'll be warned before you start taking damage. This mod improves your situational awareness and is recommended for dungeon divers and raiders of all skill levels as even the most seasoned veteran sometimes needs a reminder to GTFO.

It's particularly useful for individuals that play with their spell graphics turned down as well as assisting with PvP when you can't tell who's casting the AOE.

Important Announcement: As with any new expansion or content patch, there may be alerts that are untested as well as encounter changes from Beta/PTR. Bug reports are highly appreciated!

Features

  • 4 distinct audible alerts for different types of damage
    • High Alert - Dungeon/raid encounter AOE that you want to get out of it ASAP
    • Low Alert - PvP and low damage AOE, use your best judgment whether or not to move
    • Fail Alert - AOE you should have moved out of the way of, but it's too late (e.g. KZ void zone, Sindragosa bomb)
    • Friendly Fire Alert - AOE radiating from a teammate's body, one of you needs to move
  • Tuned for dungeons and raids in original vanilla WoW, Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria
  • Alert you before you start taking damage (when possible, in some cases)
  • Alert you during vehicle fights when your vehicle is in danger (e.g. Malygos, Flame Leviathan)
  • Tank and non-tank specific alerts
  • Visual alerts available when used with Weak Auras or Power Auras Classic (optional)
  • Statistical information of alerts when used with Recount or Skada (optional)
  • GTFO-specific volume slider
  • Small memory footprint and very little CPU usage
  • Option to ignore alerts for trivial content
  • Option to auto-unmute sounds if you play without sound on

Slash Commands

/gtfo - Help menu
/gtfo options - Set configuration options
/gtfo standby - Suspend/Resume addon
/gtfo version - Show version numbers for your party/raid
/gtfo test - Simulate a high damage alert
/gtfo test2 - Simulate a low damage alert
/gtfo test3 - Simulate a fail alert
/gtfo test4 - Simulate a friendly fire alert

Usage

Install and you're ready to go.

You can configure the mod by typing "/gtfo options" or by navigating to Options->Interface->AddOns->GTFO.

To use the "Play sounds when muted" option and still hear GTFO sounds, your "Master Volume" slider must be set to a value higher than 0%.

Weak Auras Integration

GTFO can be set up with Weak Auras to provide visual alerts in addition to (or in lieu of) the audible alerts.

  1. Install the Weak Auras addon
  2. Type "/wa" in game to bring up the Weak Auras menu
  3. Click "Texture", "Text", or "Icon"
  4. Click the "Trigger" tab
  5. Change the "Type" to "Event"
  6. Change the "Event" to "GTFO Alert"
  7. Check "Alert Type" and select a GTFO alert type
  8. Set a short number (like .1) in Duration
  9. Use the other configuration options to fine-tune your alert

Power Auras Integration

GTFO can be set up with Power Auras to provide visual alerts in addition to (or in lieu of) the audible alerts.

  1. Install the Power Auras Classic addon
  2. Type "/powa" in game to bring up the Power Auras menu
  3. Click "Page 1" to create a character-only alert or "Global 1" to create an account-wide alert
  4. Click "new" to create a new alert
  5. Change the dropdown value for "Activation By:" to "GTFO Alert"
  6. Select your alert type: High/Low/Fail/Friendly Fire
  7. Use the other configuration options to fine-tune your alert

Recount/Skada Integration

GTFO can be set up with Recount or Skada to provide detailed statistical information of alerts.

A word of caution: the damage amount displayed on GTFO Alerts may not be fully indicative of the total damage done, especially with fail alerts. For example: if you're hit by a tornado, the damage and fail alert from the tornado picking you up could be 5k, but the fall damage when you hit the ground afterwards is 100k. The amount recorded by Recount/Skada will be 5k.

I will do that in the next version. In the meantime:

High Damage = Typically dungeon/raid encounter AOE and you want to get out of it ASAP

Low Damage = Typically PvP AOE, use your best judgment whether or not to move

Fail = You did something dumb...don't bother moving because it's too late (KZ void zone, Sindragosa bomb)

Unfortunately, it doesn't scale with levels (which I need to add). For example, the "high damage" alert in BRD should go off when you're Level 55, but not when you're 80.

    Thank you very very much!
  • #41
so i can turn it up or down?
  • #44
Good news. I found a way to do this. It'll be available in v2.2
  • #42
Because it's a custom sound, Blizzard ties it to the Master Volume slider (but not the game sound slider). I don't believe there's a way to change that with their API. If you know of another add-on that can do this, let me know and I can implement that.

In the Putricide encounter the 'Gas Bomb'/'Choking Gas' notification doesn't seem to be working; perhaps because it's a 10 sec debuff applied by being in a viscinity of the flasks. Perhaps you can have it notify after a stacked application.

    Thank you.
  • #43
I found another bug with this. It should be fixed in 2.1.
  • #40
It should be doing the fail warning with the gas bomb. I've added a fix in 2.0.5 that may help.

I would love to hear a swooshy noise when the whirlwind effect that I'm standing in goes off, so I can get my melee out of the effect before she dies. Is that easy?

    Thanks for a great addon.

I started identifying some of those recently, like with the gauntlet room before Sindragosa's platform. I'm adding a "tank detection" system in my next version (2.1) that will allow me to add warnings that I haven't been able to put in because they would just simply be annoying the tanks in an effort to help melee (like cleave and whirlwind).

Which whirlwind encounters are you thinking of specifically? I know there are a bunch I need to add but only a UP boss and PoS trash come to mind at the moment. (I'm sleepy :P)
  • #38
Oh ya, and that trash in the Military wing in Naxx...
  • #35
"Dont stand in the green stuff!" Get the Add, and stop typing. Great add, Healer's tend to stand to long, so this is a big help for me. Thanks.
  • #34
The latest version (2.0.3) now has sounds for the Lich King encounter in 10 and 25 man. It's untested so please let me know if it's working properly or not.

It should be available for download shortly after it's approved by Curse.
  • #30
Is there anyway to add the Serve quest poisons in there. To let you know if you're in purple or green goo. That would be swell if it's possible.
  • #32
This was easy enough. As soon as Curse approves it, GTFO 2.0.2 supports the Valentine's Day bosses.

When you're wearing the correct immunity, the buzzer won't go off.
