About Guild Channel

Description:
Guild Channel is an addon for guilds that use a custom chat channel as their guild chat. It provides an interactive tooltip with detailed information about players in that channel.

It is designed for guilds that keep alts in seperate guilds!
The idea of this addon is to be able to stay in touch with alts - without the need to invite them into the main guild.

Features:
- information about who-is-who in the channel (mains/alts)
- information about location, level
- short /gc to post in that channel
- sticky /gc chat channel
- motd
- interactive tooltip (whisper, invite player)
- LDB support
- CLINK parsing
- on-/offline notice with main-info
- offline notice colored in red if the player was in your party/raid

The tooltip is seperated into 3 zones of players:
1. main characters
2. alts or gamefriends - with the addon installed
3. alts or gamefriends - without the addon installed

Alts in zone 3 get a "?" at first because their mains are unknown. You can set names for them manually - names get shared with other addon users automatically.

Setup:
- extract Guild_Channel to your Addons folder
- log in as your main
- set your main "as your main" via the minimap-icon
- set the chat channel of your guild
- join the chat channel via "/join channel" if not already joined

disconnected all addons and updated to R12. Same problem :/

Hi, I run the release 11 of your nice addon. But it seems what there is an update problem. Only the first connected online can see all the others connected. the others only have the "please wait" message indefinitely.

After several test it happens that we can only see the chars who logger after each player.
eg : A logs then B logs and C logs.
    A sees B and C
    B sees C
    C sees no one.
Can it be an addon incompatibility. I'll try to switch off all competiting addons.

I like this addon, the only issue I see so far is the Main thing, is that for character in the Main guild, or are you supposed to be able to set Main for your main character, then select alt for your alts?
  • #17
You just set your main char once. All your other char's are your alts and must not be set. Note: It is designed for guilds that keep alts in seperate guilds!

First off: I love this thing

Second I were wondering if you could implement a feat that shows who is the actual moderator of the chatchannel that is used?
  • #14
by right-clicking the icon, the chatframe shows up. there you can see who the moderator is. implementing an indicator for the tooltip would be easy, but im not really convinced that it is necessary :p - right-clicking the icon is not that struggle :)

and thanks for liking my addon :)

Could have though of that myself ... but that was too oblivious for me :P

Thanks, beats typing the whole line by far

Noticed something strange going on recently, when I have this addon enabled my guild message of the day in the social tab is empty. Also the guildie list doesnt update unless I switch tabs and then switch back... Odd behavior, and I'm guessing it might be another addon and this one causing some kind of oddity, just not sure...
  • #6
does this happen all the time or just once? guild information can be delayed after the login, especially in dalaran and has nothing to do with the addon.

can you see the motd in the addon's tooltip?
  • #7
yes, I see the addon in the tooltip, but it happens all the time whether in dal or not, at login and even after an hour being logged in
  • #8
strange. can you post a list of your addons? or dis/enable your addons to find the other addon that prevents the guildroster update? i have 40+ people here in my guild using this addon and nobody has problems
  • #9
Well, after a bunch of enable/disable & reloading the UI, it looks like WIM and Guild Channel aren't playing nice,,, if either one of them is disabled the guild list and motd all update fine as soon as any changes happen...
  • #10
thx again for your bugreport. after installing wim i could reproduce your problem. a libupdate fixed it for me, the update (r9) will be up at curse in a few hours.

just curious: does your guild use guild channel? :p

let me know if the update fixed your problem.
  • #11
excellent, I'll keep my eyes out for the update...

No, the guild doesnt actually use it except for 1 or 2 folks... I use it for a regular pug raid that I run weekly... The members are scattered around several different guilds...
