About GuildEventManager

NOTE

GEM sync with ingame calendar is currently disabled due to many changes made by blizzard with WoW 4.0+

-

Starting with version 3.60, we added a new feature that allows GEM to synchronize events with blizzard in-game calendar.

All you have to do is check the option "bliz_cal" in the channel configuration window in GEM-UI, and every time you create an event, it will automatically be created in the game calendar and will be synchronized automatically.

Players will then have the possibility to subscribe/unsubscribe either in GEM or in blizzard calendar (and from wow-armory). Of course, blizzard calendar has less options than GEM, so you won't be able to enter a subscribe comment or a role.

Note: This option is currently supported ONLY for the guild channel.

Description

Overview

This AddOn allows you to create/schedule/manage future raid instance directly in-game. Players can register (join) and reserve a room for your instance, or cancel subscription. You can setup a maximum players for your event, as well as the min/max per class or role.

When a player wants to join and there is no room left for his class, he is put in a ''substitute'' queue, waiting for someone to cancel his subscription. The leader of an event does not have to be logged in for a player to subscribe.

This addon has been designed to help guilds to schedule events, and its member to say ''*I'll be there*'', and count the number of players that are ok for an instance. It does work for multiple guilds (kind of Alliance of guilds), if you want, or even with your friend list.

All dates are stored in universal time, and displayed in local time, so if someone creates an event in a different timezone than yours, you will see the correct time on your side.

The GEM team is proud to announce you the release of GEM WebSync, a tool that allows you to synchronize your Event sheduling with your webserver. Get GEM PHP and GEM WS AddOn here on curse. GEM PHP is the web part to install on your webserver, and GEM WS AddOn the ingame plugin for GEM3.

Our guild is in an alliance with another guild, so we use a custom channel. However, when I log into WoW, GEM3 joins that channel so fast that it becomes channel 1, and general is channel 2, etc. It's kind of irritating. Is it possible that you store how many of the core chat channels a player uses, and not join the channel until those are already joined?
  • #788
    just a question,why is there a second gem if gem is up2date ? http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11200-GuildEventManager2.3WotLK.html#info

do you have a permission ?
  • #787
thx to find this typo, i'll fix it imediatly.
concerning the alias i though it was enough but i will allow more.

    Channels.

This seems to be related to a bad key in the locale strings file. In loc/localization_en.lua on line 373, the table key is specified as "tt_GEM3UI_CFGChanEditSlash&". If I change this to "tt_GEM3UI_CFGChanEditSlash1", the tooltip text displays as expected. This issue also appears to exist in the other localization files.

Channels is limited to five characters?

sorry for not havin replied earlier, but i was working on the fixes for the coming patch. So good news, there will be a release in the next two days.
most of the reported issues or wishes could be fixed or were realized.
unfortunatly i got not ready with the new "Event Grid", i'd prefered releasing a working version for the patch release days than leting you stay without GEM ;)
so come back soon to get the new version

Can you change the increments in server offset to 0.5 hours, my correct time zone is 30 minutes behind my realm time.
  • #783
Nevermind, although my system time was correct my timezone was not. No idea how this was changed. Doh
  • #782
After some investigating I am no nearer resolving the time difference issue. I ran my second WoW account on my other pc and all the times are displaying correctly, yet on this pc there is a difference of 6.5 hours. On both pcs I am using the same version of GEM and both pcs show the same system time and realm time. I have tried disabling all my addons except for GEM and deleted my savedvariables but to no avail.
  • #781
After encouraging my guild members to use this addon I feel a bit of a fool as we have a major issue with the event times. I created two events both starting at 20:30, on a fellow guild member's pc its showing as 14:00. First of all, we both live in the same state and thus share the same time zone, secondly, there is only 30 minutes difference from our system clocks to the server time so I don't understand how it's coming up with 6 and half hours difference.
  • #780
nvm, bugged because i enabled the gui ingame and did /reloadui -.-
  • #779
Somehow the Mainwindow is too big for my screen (1600x1200), there is a big gap between the minimized and full content of the window and the extended/full window has around 5% outside to the left of my viewport.
  • #778
Also, PLEASE fix it so that the client doesn't send info when we're afk! It knocks us out!
  • #777
I *love* this addon and have converted my whole guild to use it. The only problem is that I would really like to see a streamlined configuration for new users. We have spent waaay too much time walking people through the dialogs just to add channels. Could you make it so it is automatic if the guild leader has the main channel set in his officer notes? Maybe a setup dialog that pops up that contains only the things people need to get it started as a raider?
    Thanks for any open ears!

We *just* switched to 3.x and WoW... (pun intended). But there are a few small issues:

    1) As smapty mentioned, the mm/dd/yyyy thing seems to bother some people (not me, i like yyyy/mm/dd, but to each their own). In addition, it appears this setting doesn't persist everywhere, like when you "create" an event it still shows as dd/mm/yyyy

    2) Our guild would greatly benefit from a priority: date only setting in an event. Most of use have multiple characters in a guild, and although the mins/max give us a quick look at who we are bringing, we don't want to bump someone to the secondary queue over telling them they just have to switch to their <insert desired class here>. But it's hard to tell without scrolling over each person their signup date.

    3) In Gem2 there was the ability to promote a new leader of the event. Every once in a while I create an event then find I can't make it or have to switch the toon I'm playing on. When I do that, there's no way that I can find to pass of lead of the event in Gem3. What I end up doing is signing up on another char, promoting him to an assistant, then ejecting my first char. This has the unfortunate side effect of:
    - Showing the original char as the leader of the event still
    - Giving me an error message every time someone signs up telling me that my char has been ejected from the run.
    - Having no leader in the list for the event.

    4) Server offset. I have to admit I was very confused by this until someone actually on server time told me the dates were all wrong. I like to use Server time (as do much of my guild), so I checked the "Use server time" checkbox, and expected it to use the server time as my WoW clock tells me it is. (i.e. it shows my local time and my server time when I hover over the wow clock -- there's the built-in offset). I figured server time offset was a "manual" offset if that was wrong -- but apparently not. Is there any way that wow offset could be the default, as I'm thinking many other people are going to get confused by that moving from Gem2 where they always used server time, but never filled in an extra value. Also, the time offset does not allow negative values. How do you set it so that you're ahead of the server time? (our guild is spread from coast to coast, with our server time right in the middle, so this will become an issue I'm thinking.)

    2) well, it's easy to add a plugin that only sorts by date, I'll do it in next version
    3) having an error is not a reason to want a new feature to "bypass" it :) This error should not be happening, and I need more infos about that. As for the coordinator, you can still use the "promote to assistant" feature, so that everybody will see who is assistant (as a workaround, I'll enable the change leader feature, but as *unstable*)
    4) I checked, and there is no "offset computation" from the game. It just shows (like you said) the game time, and the computer's clock. Those are 2 totally different functions. One is from the game API, the other from lua api. That's why it's not trivial to auto compute the offset. In next version, when you'll check the "UseServerTime" option for the 1st time, we'll try to compute the offset, and asks the user to check the computed value. Oh and btw, it's possible to set a negative value... but not from the keyboard (it's a bug), you must use the mousescroll right now.
