About GuildShield

GuildShield

AddOns you are protected against

  • SuperGuildInvite

Users

All you have to do is to instal this AddOn and SuperGuildInvite (and hopefully more in the future) will not bother you at all. As of september 9th 2012 I am not ready to release SGI 6.0, but once it hits everyone under 2000ms latency should be 100% protected against SuperGuildInvite.

Developers

If you wish to use this as part of your AddOn, and preventing spam as much as possible, do this:

  1. Put "GuildShield.lua" in your AddOns' folder and load it via the TOC file, before your own AddOn.
  2. Inside your own AddOn, run the function "GuildShield:Initiate(action)", either directly on loading or on login. Action is the function you wish to call when a player with GuildShield installed is found. (something like removing them from an invite list or simlar)
  3. When your AddOn finds a player that should be invited, run the function "GuildShield:IsShielded(player)". If the "player" has GuildShield installed, "action" (specified earlier) will be called. action will be called with the name of the player as argument:
  • action(name)

1.x

1.2
  • No changes, just adapting for 5.1
1.1
  • Small bugfixes
  • Will now protect better from SGI, and once SGI 6.0 hits it will most protect everyone playing on less than 2000ms latency.
1.0
  • First edition
  • GuildShield:Initiate(action)
  • GuildShield:IsShielded(player)
  • Protects you from SuperGuildInvite

You dont have to download this addon.
People who wispert to you using SuperGuildInvite and others like it are spamming.

Report the wisper as SPAM and the user might get a Ban

I have allso sent a request to blizzard to band SuperGuildInvite and other like it.
So you can allso do that.

There should be no reason to get an addon to stop wispers from another addon.

    Edit:
I Have not talked to a GM and yes the wispers are spam and can be punished by anything from a warning to a permban

is this a part of another download.. because i don't have it, but i got a message in chat saying guild shield blocked an invite. i was on my trail account twinking. i also have superguildinvite and superguildremove. if it is a part of another addon, what is it and how do i turn it off and on? thankyou for the great addons btw! they are great!

It is part of SuperGuildInvite. Right now there is now ay of shutting it off, except disabling SGI. Might need to add that option...

Add the blocking of whispers as well as invites, or remove SGI from the site. It's getting out of hand. Please and Thank You.

That is already in the protection. All guild invitation addons do not follow this and therefore you will still recieve whispers and invites, just not from SGI.

I admitt that the functionality has not been exellent on version 1.0.

However, version 1.1 combined with the soon to be launched SGI 6.0 will protect anyone under 2000ms latency.

And for you guys saying this doesn't work at all: This is false. Version 1.0 and 1.1 works almost all of the time with SuperGuildInvite 5.5, and will work 100% of the time with version 6.0. The invites and whispers you are recieving are most likley from other AddOns.

As for the functionality of SuperGuildInvite,

    • I can't check if someone doesn't want an invite, unless they have this AddOn. There is no API for this.
    • If someone is blocking invites I can't check that either for the reason above, however unless the user only uses whispers, these wont be contacted.

Honestly, if the addon works properly, this shouldn't be needed. If this is needed, or the addon doesn't work properly, there are much bigger problems that need to be considered.

I downloaded this because I thought it would block whispers sent by SuperGuildInvite from getting through. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Not impressed.

  • #2

It will block the invites, not the whispers itself.

Put your status on Do Not Disturb /dnd if you don't want to recieve whispers..

  • #12

It shouldn't have to come to anything at all, I shouldn't have to use addons to blanket/Censor/filter shit, when the creation of SGI should never of happend in the first bloody place.

all of you that dont like guildinvites download BadBoy addon, add custom text to the addon and you wont see any more whispers.

    it also removes goldspam.

GUILD INVITE SPAM RUINS THE GAME I HATE YOU

  • #3

It shouldn't have to come to that. I want to receive whispers, just not from the jerks spamming about their damn guilds.
