About Hear Kitty
Hear Kitty plays soothing and distinct orchestral sounds as you gain and spend your combat resources. It's like having your own theme music! You'll hear tones as you gain combo points or stacks of your buffs, and when you hear the final note played, you'll know it's time for a finishing move. Never watch for little red dots or buff stacks again!
These classes and specs work with Hear Kitty:
- Druids (in cat form): combo points
- Rogues: combo points
- Enhancement shamans: Maelstrom Weapon charges
- Elemental shamans: Lightning Shield charges
- Paladins: holy power
- Discipline priests: Evangelism stacks
- Shadow priests: Shadow Orb stacks
- Marksmanship hunters: Ready, Set, Aim... and Fire! stacks
- Unholy death knights: Shadow Infusion stacks on your ghoul and when Dark Transformation ends
- Destruction warlocks: burning embers
- Monks: chi
- Arcane mages: arcane charges
- Vehicles with combo points (such as the drakes in Eye of Eternity)

Hear Kitty official sound packs
These sound packs for Hear Kitty provide new sound effects so you can better customize Hear Kitty to your liking.
Version 1.5.1
Fixed a bug where Hear Kitty would play extra sounds for shadow priests if they had previously been discipline spec.
Version 1.5
All Hear Kitty features, classes, and specs should now work for German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian players. Those languages also include a machine-translated UI. Some Hear Kitty features (but not all classes and specs) will work in other languages.
If you have any suggestions or corrections to the existing machine translations, or would like to translate Hear Kitty into a different language, please let me know!
Added support for arcane mages (Arcane Charge stacks).
Changed the way that holy power and chi work: previously Hear Kitty would not play a sound when spending only 1 of those resources, since it can't tell the difference between a resource that was spent and one that expired. That behavior was weird for Tiger Palm, which costs 1 chi and is used frequently. The new behavior is that Hear Kitty will continue to play sounds when 1 chi is lost if you're in combat, or if it was your last chi, but not if you're out of combat and you still have some chi left. This behavior should be more pleasant and predictable.
Hear Kitty will no longer play sounds for gaining and losing holy power, chi, and shadow orbs when your level is too low to use those resources.
Hear Kitty will no longer play sounds during the preparation phase of a battleground or arena.
Fixed a bug where Hear Kitty would play sounds even when its sounds were disabled for classes other than druid and rogue.

Hi! Yes, by default Hear Kitty will still play sounds even with in-game sounds off. (There's also an option to have Hear Kitty sound effects respect those settings if you prefer.)
Rest assured that as soon as add-ons are allowed on beta I'll make sure that mine are all working properly. :) Right now I haven't seen any reason why any of my mods wouldn't work mostly-fine with the "enable out-of-date addons" box checked once they start allowing them, but I'll get to work as soon as I can.
...unless that happens to be right after Diablo III launches or something.
I use this on my rogue, people don't understand how effective this is, especially in a fast paced boss fight. I would honestly say this addon buffed my dps by about 5% of not more.
Haha playing beta made me realise how much I relied on this addon.
Feels like I'm playin deaf :p.
Hope you keep up the awesome work for MoP!
Please pretty please add functionality to import custom sound effects.
I've tried to just replace the 0-5.ogg files but that didn't work. I even added a custom entry to the SoundPack.lua but still my own .ogg sound files don't play.
Any ETA when we'll be able to import our own sounds, or advice on what I'm missing?
I'm sorry, I completely missed this comment. You can now create and share your own sound packs for Hear Kitty as add-ons. Replacing the 0-5.ogg files in Interface\AddOns\HearKitty\Symphony should work after restarting the game, but you'll lose your custom sounds the next time that you update Hear Kitty. You can make a sound pack pretty easily by looking at the Readme file that comes with Hear Kitty and looking at the section called "Developing your own sound packs." You just need a basic text editor like Notepad, and it should only take a couple minutes beyond the time you spend actually producing the sound effects.
I absolutely love this addon. The only thing I would like to see in the next version is if you could possibly get some other noise to play when the target hits 60% health and our 2 set tier bonus kicks in. I've been looking for some addon to let me know when I can stop ripping and start refreshing my rip with ferocious bite. It'd make things alot easier. Thanks for the great addon!
Thanks! That's a good suggestion. I'll definitely look into it. Realistically, I might not get around to it until after the current tier set is no longer relevant though. :-P
In the meantime, I'm using a super-simple addon called TargetPercent that tells me the percentage health of the boss without having to keep the other numbers visible or set to percentages (I like all of the other numbers at their defaults: raw numbers, only shown on hover, but I want enemy health percentages shown at all times). It makes those last few seconds really nerve-wracking as you see that Rip has 2 seconds to go and the boss is at 60.8% health, but I'm sure that overall it's increased my DPS. :)
Just want to say that I absolutely love this addon, especially since it works for non-combo point things too (like ele shaman lightning shield charges).

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, this is definitely something that I'd like to do for a future version. Unfortunately it's a little less straightforward since the game doesn't tell addons about combo points that weren't generated due to combo points already being "full," but I could build up and maintain a list of all of the abilities that should generate combo points and then determine if any were used when the player already had five. I'd probably start with feral druids, get that working well, and then start adding similar features for rogues and then other classes and specs over time.
Love, Love, love this addon. Only thing I would like is a seperate sound for moves that hit after combo/energy/power capped. So instead of symphony sound or no sound there is maybe a fart/buzz sound to tell you move has hit but ability is capped. USE finishing move.
As I am now playing so far below hit cap I would enjoy that.
Thank You
hi! just wondinerg, is the new update for hearkitty compatible with 4.3? Noticed you updated this just now but the number still says 4.2.
Hear Kitty 1.3.1 is marked for use with WoW 4.3. Maybe Curse was just a little behind; it shows up as 4.3 for me now. (Both 1.3 and 1.3.1 will work fine on either WoW 4.2 or 4.3 though.) If you use the "out of date addons" checkbox then the only difference between the two versions is a minor spellsteal fix.
Hope that helps!
I would just like to thank you for this addon.
As a rogue, uh dk, mm hunter, and Paladin, I almost never have to look at my resouce bar anymore because of this addon.
