About Hear Kitty

Hear Kitty plays soothing and distinct orchestral sounds as you gain and spend your combat resources.  It's like having your own theme music!  You'll hear tones as you gain combo points or stacks of your buffs, and when you hear the final note played, you'll know it's time for a finishing move.  Never watch for little red dots or buff stacks again!

These classes and specs work with Hear Kitty:

  • Druids (in cat form): combo points
  • Rogues: combo points
  • Enhancement shamans: Maelstrom Weapon charges
  • Elemental shamans: Lightning Shield charges
  • Paladins: holy power
  • Discipline priests: Evangelism stacks
  • Shadow priests: Shadow Orb stacks
  • Unholy death knights: Shadow Infusion stacks on your ghoul and when Dark Transformation ends
  • Destruction warlocks: burning embers
  • Monks: chi
  • Arcane mages: arcane charges
  • Beast mastery hunters: Frenzy stacks
  • Vehicles with combo points (such as the drakes in Eye of Eternity)

These sound packs for Hear Kitty provide new sound effects so you can better customize Hear Kitty to your liking.

Version 1.6.2

    If you have Lightning Shield stacks up or any other counter that Hear Kitty tracks, Hear Kitty will now avoid playing an Inception-like musical blast right when you log in.
    For elemental shamans who are level 92+ and have learned Improved Lightning Shield, the final tone now isn't played until the 20th stack (up from 15).

Version 1.6.1

    For rogues and cat form druids, Hear Kitty will no longer play lots of extra tones while your combo points decay on your target.

    Updated for WoW 6.0 and Warlords of Draenor.
    Added support for beast mastery hunters' Frenzy buff and Focus Fire ability.
    Elemental shamans' lightning shield charges now stack to 15, so Hear Kitty will play tones at 5, 10, 13, 14, and 15 charges.
    Removed code for marksmanship hunters' Ready, Set, Aim and Fire! buffs, since they've been removed from the game.

    One thing I would suggest, however.  Can we have an option to reiterate when we're at max points?

    On my shadow priest, I keep starting battles with 3 orbs and not realizing it because Hear Kitty does not make any noise due to the fact that I already had 3.  Perhaps if it made a noise every 5 or 10 seconds as a reminder that I'm at cap, I would notice.

    I released Hear Kitty 1.2.1, a minor update, as well as two new sound packs: Crystal, a VERY clear set of tones that sound like hitting a glass with a spoon, and Powerup, which sounds vaguely like retro video game effects. All of my additional sounds for Hear Kitty are now in Volume 2 of the official sound packs:

    Something that I forgot to mention: if you're using the old "Symphony quiet and loud" sound packs you need to upgrade to Hear "Kitty official sound packs Volume 2" to continue to use them in Hear Kitty 1.2.1.

    I'm looking to add support for more classes and specs for Hear Kitty 1.3. No ETA at the moment, but I'll probably start working on it once the 4.3 PTRs go up.

    I don't know of any others, sadly. But you're welcome to create one!

    I tried to make an electric guitar sound pack but I wasn't at all pleased with the way it sounded so I never finished it.

    I released a couple new sound packs last night that you can check out. Maybe one of those will be preferable to you. I've got some ideas of other ones that I can build in the future now that I've got the equipment set up. :)

    I'll probably make an update sometime soon...ish, but the current Hear Kitty is already fully compatible with WoW 4.2.

    Right now Hear Kitty doesn't do anything for priests unless you're on a vehicle with combo points (like Malygos). I'm looking to expand it to work with priests soon though!

    The new version of the old "low volume sound pack" is available for those of you who want really fine-tuned control over Hear Kitty's volume settings and aren't satisfied with the in-game options:

    Unlike the previous version, the new "Symphony quiet and loud sound pack" installs like a regular add-on and doesn't require you to manually replace any Hear Kitty files.

    Hear Kitty 1.2 is out, and adds the ability to select additional sound packs instead of the default "Symphony" sounds. (It doesn't come with any other sounds, but "Symphony (quiet)" and "Symphony (loud)" will be available soon, and now other people can easily produce their own sound packs for Hear Kitty.) It also returns to the pre-WoW-4.0 behavior where Hear Kitty's sounds weren't affected by the in-game sound effects volume settings, though if you liked that behavior, you can now switch between the two in the options.
