About Hix: Interrupt Announcer

Hix: Interrupt Announcer
Hix: Interrupt Announcer is a lightweight addon that announces to party or raid when you interrupt an ability. The addon is disabled in Battlegrounds and WorldPVP zones to prevent spam, however it does work in Arenas and Rated Battlegrounds. To keep the addon small and fast there is no customisability; this is to maintain consistency and neatness when multiple players use this addon in a party or raiding environment.

Chat announce format

  • Interrupt ability - [Spell link of interrupted ability] (Name of interrupted target)
  • Counterspell - [Frostbolt] (Hix)

Reason for creation
Hix: Interrupt Announcer was initially created when a guildie asked if I could create an announcer. After a few more asked for the addon I decided to evolve it fully. It's been a few months now and to help users update it easily I decided to move it to a Curse project.

Problems/Work Arounds
There are currently no definitive problems. That said the addon only picks up on interrupts/silences, and not stuns, etc.

This addon is very basic. I don't foresee any problems but please do leave a comment behind or a ticket via curse if you find an issue; your help is welcomed.

Please also feel free to leave behind suggestions and ideas that you think should be incorporated into/removed from this addon and I shall consider any that seem appropriate. I have no intention to add options for channel output as I and my guild prefer the consistency and the simplicity. Suggestions can be left in the comments or via the ticket system.

Final words
Thanks for taking an interest in this addon.
If you enjoyed this addon, check out my others! Hix

I am extremly grateful that you even feel like updating it still, when not playing wow. Many addons with this purpose exist, but i find this one the best, there is very little spam, only important information. Your work is appretiated:D

  • #19

Hello again! thanks for the update, since i've updated the addon, i get the following error everytime i log on:

1x Hix_InterruptAnnouncer\Hix_InterruptAnnouncer-1.9.lua:74: "then" expected near "self"

I have ofc no idea what does it mean. :D

  • #20

Ah, sorry about that :(. This is what happens when I update mods without having the game installed! Should be fixed now, was a simple syntax error.

Thanks for reporting; update will be out within the next 10 minutes.

I'm no programmer but the deal is, 5.1 changed the party system, being in an instance group (this goes for lfr and random dungeons) makes separate channels, or a new one, /Instance (/i command), while party stays if you were in a party while queueing. So you'd just need to add the /i report option when in a dungeon or lfr via the dungeon finder. Prolly same for scenarios.

I found this addon was a part of LUI, if you do the fix, can it be expected in LUI aswell ?

Ah awesome :). I'll get a fix out as soon as possible; thanks for the information.

As for LUI, I no longer work on the project, but I'm sure someone from the team will have a fix out if there isn't one already.

hasnt worked since 5.1 came out
shows outa date and even if i enable out of date addon, it says im not in a party. please update this is a really good addon for my warrior

  • #16

I've updated the TOC number so that should keep the Out of Date happy. However I'm struggling to see where you may be getting errors in its use? I've not seen any API updates that would conflict with the addons use. I currently do not play WoW so am unable to fully check it. In which scenarios does it produce errors (if explicit or just noticeable bugs), party/solo/LFG(R).

Just wanted to notice, that it does not currently work for me when queueing for random instances. It works when being in a group prior to queueing. Perhaps it does not recognize the LFG correctly? Anyone else having this problem?

  • #14

Should nowwork in LFG and LFR instances. This was due to my group dectection relying on your 'home' party, rather that any party (e.i. your LFG and LFG). Let me know if the issue is fixed but should be now :).

Thank you for reporting the issue.

This shows as out of date. Please change the version in the toc file to 50001

  • #12

Fixed. Was weird thought cause it is patch 5.0.4 version number should be 50400.  Oh well! Jumping ahead I guess :P. Cheers for the heads up.

This is great. When for 4.3?

  • #10

I've put a new version up now. From what I've seen nothing is broken? But let me know if there are any issues with 4.3.

Can I change the auto post to /say somehow?
  • #6
I won't be adding option, but here are the code changes required.

    File: Hix_InterruptAnnouncer.lua
    Line: 62.
    0 and "RAID") or "PARTY"
    To: = "SAY"
