About HunterHelper

HunterHelper

HunterHelper is a lightweight addon that helps you, the talented hunter, by increasing your situational awareness while you're in combat. It is based on the excellent ViperNotify addon, by Angelnorn, and is essentially an extension of that addon, posted with her permission. As of v1.81, this addon is localized in English, Spanish, French and German.

HunterHelper provides the following notifications:

  • You have entered combat with no Aspect selected, or your current Aspect is Pack or Cheetah
  • You have entered combat without a pet
  • Your pet is growling when it shouldn't be, or isn't growling when it SHOULD be
  • Your pet is set to Passive or Aggressive, both of which can cause problems in groups
  • Your pet is low on health or has died

Each of these warnings can be enabled, disabled, customized and "snoozed" (temporarily suspended for a time).

HunterHelper sits in the background and notifies you in each of these situations by displaying a message to the screen, either as combat text or as a raid-style warning. It is fully customizeable and includes a configuration interface, as well as a variety of console commands (type "/hh" for a list).

See the included "readme.txt" for more information and frequently-asked questions.

v1.98

  • You can now select "(none)" for any warning sound to make the warning silent.
    • Note: If your silent warning appears in front of other warnings that have sounds, the first one of those will still issue its own sound.
  • Added a warning for "My Health" (monitors the hunter's own health)
  • All warnings are automatically disabled when the hunter dies. This should get rid of the "Your pet has died!" warning showing up when you die.

Also, a quick note: I am taking a bit of a break from WoW (as you may have noticed from the long period between 1.975 and 1.98). I'm still watching the HunterHelper page and taking feature requests, but your patience is appreciated in the event that I don't reply or address things right away. I do promise to fix critical bugs quickly, tho! :)

    Hi, great Addon btw.

But can you add an option that no growling sound/message appears when i have a tank pet?

I think it would be solved if you add a function like: "Ignore Pet x"

x = Name of the pet or something like that :)

    Hi

I love your addon. But I noticed the iconof what to use is in themiddle of my screen when it comes up.  Can I move  it?

    Thanks

    Smyta

There's an icon related to HunterHelper in the middle of your screen?  Odd - the addon doesn't have any UI at all, aside from the Interface Options and the command-line options.  Would you clarify what you're seeing?  I wonder if you're having trouble with a different addon, perhaps a conflict between that and HunterHelper?

Is it possible to get a screenshot?  That would help.  Thanks. :)

Are you just referring to the text of the warnings?  That will show up in the same place as WoW's default combat messages unless you've installed another UI addon that allows you to change its location.  HunterHelper doesn't do anything special here.

Hi- thanks for your help.  It was my fault. Thanks again for a great addon.

  • #202

can you please add a function that no sound will played when pet is "xy"?

    Just a textmessage, no sound.

This option would be nice, thx.

  • #203

Great suggestion, and easy to implement.  Look for this option soon.

  • #200

Still hoping you will considering adding a feature to monitor the actual "Hunter's" health in the way you do for "Pet Health".

Addon has been working great in 4.3, thank you for your continued support and updates.

(This is a test reply - please ignore.  I'm helping Curse debug an issue with the comments feature.)

This bug is now fixed.  Thanks again for your help. :)

Awesome, this was what I was hoping to hear.  It means this is a general raid problem and not specifically due to the Random Raid Finder.  That'll make this significantly easier to debug.

The debug output you're talking about there usually lists all of the addons, and to my knowledge there's nothing between HunterHelper and Recount that should be interfering with each other.  I'll keep an eye on it, tho.  Thanks for the report.

A friend was going to solo run a raid... he invited me to party, then when he converted to Raid the LUA showed up.

I see mention of Recount addon in the LUA as well... Recount was recently updated though.

Looks like the same error that mkcorp hit.  Were you using the Random Raid Finder?  Or were you forming your own custom raid?

  • #185

Cool, thanks for the report.  Looks like the random raid finder screws around with what was supposed to be a predictable, numeric constant that lets me determine what kind of group you're in.  I'll have to figure out what's different about it in that situation.
