About iFriends

Broker Plugin: iFriends

iFriends is an LDB plugin which provides pre-layouted columns to display much infos about both Battle.net and WoW friends. You have the power to (re-)arrange these columns to that order you desire.

Requires an LDB Display Addon, f.e. Chocolate Bar!

Highlights

  • Create your own tooltip style: almost every column has styling options!
    • Display column label
    • Justification
    • Display icon
    • Color
  • Battle.net and WoW friends are displayed in different tooltips. You can hide the WoW friends permanently.
  • Supports all three factions: Alliance, Horde and Neutral
  • Displays the played game instead of realm names if your friend plays Starcraft orDiablo and colors the whole line either blue or red.
  • Also added support for Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and the Battle.net Desktop app!

Requests, Bug Reports and Localization

  • Please use the Ticket System on CurseForge to report bugs, unintended behaviour, request for features, etc. I won't handle any kind of requests via comments on Curse anymore. Thanks.
  • I refuse to translate my addons with translators like Google since it feels wrong. If you can provide localized strings, please use the CurseForge localization tool.

If your Broker bar is at the bottom of your screen

If your Broker bar is at the bottom of your screen (like mine), the WoW friends tooltip gets pushed off the edge. You can move it on top of the main tooltip by editing one line in iFriends.lua (use an advanced text editor like Notepad++ or TextWrangler).

Go to line 97 (as of this post, anyway). It reads as follows:
    tip2:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", tip, "BOTTOMLEFT", 0, 0);

    Change that to:
    tip2:SetPoint("BOTTOMLEFT", tip, "TOPLEFT", 0, 0);

Save and exit. Of course you will need to do this again after the next update, unless the addon author chooses to implement an option.

I've updated my own version of both this and iGuild; I'll try to see if I can upload them.

  • #50

That would be fantastic...thank you!!! Love the way this addon functions. Can't live without it.

  • #47

The project has been marked as "Inactive", so I guess there's not much hope for an update unless someone will take it over and update it :(

Anyone know an alternative to this addon? It did exactly what I needed... simple and useful.

  • #46

Are you going update iFriends with the new version of World of Warcraft 6.0.2?

  • #45

I really wish someone would pick up this great, but apparently abandoned, addon. It's kinda broken now and doesn't update properly :(

  • #44

We could really use an update to this now that the BattleNet chat is working.  Half the time, it doesn't refresh to tell me that someone has logged into the game on a certain character and just continues to display "App" as to their location.

Thanks!  I love this one and iGuild so much-- which also has an issue refreshing itself sometimes, but still!  Love 'em.  ^.^

I posted instructions for how to fix that here : http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/ifriends/tickets/3-toon-display-is-random-when-friend-in-1-game-client/

hi, im use ChocolateBar , when i L-click and move icon to anoter place ifriend stop work when mouse over, Friends "Name Zone" dont disaper, then i have to reload ui!

  • #41

Would it be possible to ad the icon for when a friend is playing Hearthstone? It just says WTCG now.

Is there a way to get the normal friends tooltip to display differently?  Currently whether I do seperate tooltip or not, it always displays below the Reald ID list, and this causes it to be off screen because I put my Chocolate Bar at the bottom of the screen.  Love the add on and this is only a very minor annoyance but would still be nice, thanks for the hard work!

I'd like to second the above comment.

The issue isn't so much with the Pandaren, as much as it's an issue with the ones that haven't picked a faction yet.  I can see my Pandaren friends, RealID and regular friends if they're Horde or Alliance.  But if they're in the starting area, they haven't picked a faction, so the addon is having a small "...bwuh?" moment and that's why the mouseover goes blank.

Of course, I don't know how to fix it, but I know that's the issue!  XD

OK. I found out what was happening.

I added friends to my friends list and the error went away.

Even though I had RealID friends logged on it caused that error and would not display the Broker tooltip. As soon as I added a local friend everything went back to normal.

So it appears the issue is related to an empty local friends list, but having RealID friends doesn't solve the empty list situation.

    Hope this helps.

I'm getting this error. It started when MoP went live.

I wonder if its happening now that the Panda race is in a data feed.
