About iLvLr

Please join the Facebook group so you can share your thoughts with the developer.

is an add on that has been developed to conveniently provide at-a-glance information inside of the character pane. The intended purpose is to make the gearing up process more efficient. Future development will also make this process much easier to maintain across multiple characters. Current features of iLvLr include:

  • iLvL of each piece of equipment
  • iLvL diplays proper upgraded iLvL for upgraded items
  • iLvL indicator that is color coded to indicate which items are holding you back the most (red - low; white - avg; green - above average, Now outlined to help with seeing on some custom UI backgrounds)
  • Average thresh hold for iLvL indicator currently hard set to +/-10 of average equipped iLvL (determined by the typical 13 jump of each set of gear)
  • Durability indicator added to replace deprecated add on DurabilityHelper (future updates to toggle this feature to show/hide/alert in works)
  • Durability coloring matches that of the armored man from default UI. Green is safe, Yellow is alert, Red is Broken.
  • Missing Enchant and Gem indicators implemented to determine if you are missing any enchants or gems
  • Gem/Enchant indicator takes into consideration your profession for Blacksmith sockets and Enchanter's ring enchants
  • Takes into account belt buckles

Slash commands are supported, but limited. The /ilvlr prefix is required and will also give version information and a list of acceptable arguments for the slash commands.

Future development possibilities includes, but is not limited to:

  • Optimized code
  • Currency and Money data broker to track VP/JP/CP/HP and Gold, Silver, and Copper on all characters
  • Currency tracker will also have a VP/JP/CP/HP weekly cap indicator as well
  • Data broker implemented to track all characters iLvL (equipped)
  • Data broker implemented to track all characters Level, XP, XP to Level, and rest XP
  • Data broker implemented to record the profession and skill level of that profession and provide linking of all characters
  • More slash commands to allow customization of each module to some extent such as show/hide/alert modes
  • Customization interface that will allow color, location, and size customizations
  • Gem/Enchant indicator changed from letters to icons to allow easy:
    • Slot count
    • Gem count
    • Color count
    • Gem quality observation with colored borders
    • Correct color indicator (This might happen, but many people gem different colors as the gems reward more than the bonus)
  • Stat-Weight indicator that will display a list of stats in the order of priority
  • Stat-Weight indicator will also have goal indicator changing indicator from red to yellow to green as you close in on your goal (such as hit cap)
  • Equipped iLvL on inspect of another player (this will only show equipped iLvL. This will display in the inspect pane and possibly the tool tip)

I only ask you to be patient as I have a wife, kids, full-time job, college, and 10 85's in my raiding guild. Skill Helper is being worked on actively, but nothing is completed to a point of satisfaction to pass through my own standards.

I'm experiencing an issue with this addon in conjunction with Aurora and Clean Icons: Tiny. Basically those addons alter the way my character window looks, and the icons there become larger. But it turns out that iLvLr is making some black shadows/outlines on the icons, which is really annoying. I tried taking a look at the .lua file, but as I'm not super experienced with the language yet, I'm having some trouble finding the borders myself and try to remove them...
Here is a link to a screenshot of the issue:

EDIT: Got some help on the MMO-Champion forum, changed line 451 and 456 to

    iQuality:SetBackdropBorderColor(r, g, b, 0)

    That fixed it nicely. ^^

Glad they were able to help you.  I didn't build iLvLr with the idea of future add=ons that modify similar areas.

iLvLr started as a personal project shared with friends who despised the GearScore add-on.

Thanks for using the iLvLr and I hope Lown can continue to make you love it! :D

That line of code adds the quailty color as a border around the item icon. The reason your having an issue is because your having 2-3 addons all doing the same exact thing. Its not nessassarily an "iLvLr" issue, but more an over loaded LUA command issue...

Everything is all jumbled up but I cant get myself to uninstall this addon.  However Oqeue seems to replicate the functionality now

What do you mean by "all jumbled up"?

I do not know if I am going to add a database for reforging/gems/enchants/ect as this is a ton of work. Also AskMrRobot has released a companion addon for their website ( and this is a rather nice one. And at a $12 a year sub for the premium service I cannot complian. I also highly recomened it to others.

I will be adding information for direct view in the character frame. As AMR does not offer this in their addon. And this is something that "I" personally still want to see.  This is the direction that I am going with this addon. If you want that please continue to follow and support this addon. If not well... I will understand.

@solshine Thanks for sharing with Lown.  iLvLr was originally written to offer a solution to myself, and my friends who I helped a lot in game.  The idea was to make something that they could quickly identify the items which they needed to focus so they wouldn't have to persistently ask in GChat or Vent if something was better or worse.  Item level had become pretty clear cut that if a number was higher... it was typically better assuming stats were correct.

The idea of iLvLr was to offer us something that helped... like Gear Score, but didn't offer that annoying epeen issue and kept our small community of friends... a small community of friends.

Oqueue may have the functionality you mentioned, but they do not mention it in their features clearly or show it in their screen shots... I no longer play so I cannot install and check it out myslef.  Lown is carrying on iLvLr for me out of the goodness of his heart.  It is literally a half finshed (actually less than half) project of mine that would have offered all the information I was accustomed to answering in GChat repeatedly such as... what stat? what chant? what gem? what do?

I'm sorry if it isn't as visually appealing, but I'm a programmer so it has very rudimentary "art".  Lown also isn't an artist so I wouldn't expect visual stimulus to improve.  iLvLr had so many plans that never happened because World of Warcraft just no longer entertained me.  I hate that I ditched my users but I wasn't about to pay $15/mo to be a software developer for free.

I hope iLvLr is still in your add on list, but if not I understand as does Lown, I'm sure.

Also what is Oqeue? If its like this addon I looked up it has nothing to do with what my addon does...

First of all, thanks for your addon! :)

While Oqueue's main function is in fact different, you might want to check its layout of the character pane, because except item levels and enchant info, it displays gem slots icons next to items. Since they're colored and their type is indicated, one can check what gems are needed at a glance and I find it very very efficient visually compared to iLvlr.
