About ItemTips
Currently shows the blizzard's reported item level, item level as calculated by the addon, and the item id with more planned for the future. It is a great way to tell if items are severely off from their item budget.
Some stats are not yet supported such as extra armor (common on tanking rings) and procs/uses can't realistically be supported. Meta sockets are considered 20 of an invisible stat and all other sockets are considered 10 which although seems a bit high, still results in lower then expected item levels for the majority of gear.
Weapon dps sacrificing is now supported but it is assumed all +dmg or +healing on the weapon is gained through sacrificing if the melee dps is lower than expected although their are some weapons that have additional +dmg or +healing. This was a tradeoff I had to make because weapon melee dps isn't very consistent so it can't be determined exactly how much caster +dmg or +healing was gained through sacrificed melee dps.
To turn debugging on type "/script ItemTips.Dev = true" without the quotes into your chat window and then it will show you the stats it found so that you can see if any are not being counted.
Compatibility update for 4.0-4.2. Itemlevel estimation formula has not been updated for Catalysm items yet.

The only major thing missing now is +armor
"Weapon dps sacrificing is also not yet supported so expect to see very high item levels for caster weapons."
Hi, If you look at the item "Nathrezim MIndblade" it's listed as iLevel: 125 and Esitmate: 574, itemID: 28770. Looks like the Estimate is a bit off ;) I got the value when a guildmate pasted the object in gchat, but since I dont have the item I can't see if it would give the same value on mouse over.
That mod creates its own tooltips to allow you to see up to 10 at once which unfortunately means I'd have to put in explicit support for its tooltips. I rely on a library to hook tooltips so the library needs to add support for it (I could, but choose not to touch the library).
Ok, have relooked it again.
The problem is interference with "ManyItem Tooltips" Addon (http://www-en.curse-gaming.com/downloads/addons/interface-enhancements/manyitemtooltips/)
With this activated no info will be showed in the chatlink tooltips. So, can you do something about it. As I have absolutely no Idea how addons work I cant do it on my own. Dont wannt to miss the ManyItem tooltips nore the Itemtips functionality but they should work together. Hope you can fix this problem.
@Rendrir - that IS implemented. I think blizzard may have a bug that, on very rare occasions, erases all info added by addons but because it happens so infrequently, it's tough to figure out what's going on... If you just looked at one link from chat and noticed it missing then this may have been the problem but if you checked several then it's something else.
@pakostevens - that too is RatingBuster... I updated the screenshots to only show what ItemTips does. Of special note is that shields with "of Blocking" have as much strength as an equal level "of Strength" shield would have in addition to the block rating (roughly 3-5% chance to block) which makes them very desirable.
Nice Addon,
only thing I miss is that alle the information shown also in itemtoolitps from itemlinks out of the chat, could this be inplemented?
Should the showing of crit % for int and crit rating and % for hit rating be turned on? I see the ilvl and itemid when i mouseover items but not the %'s.
@Zidomo - correct, that is how I listed them in the description and I'm only working on getting it accurate. I code for myself mainly and don't really care much about user friendliness, especially on something as technical as this.
@rui - no, that's RatingBuster which can also display blizzard itemlevel and itemid but doesn't doesn't do the stat calculation and is more so intended to show what % of a stat you get from combat ratings. http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=5819
I wouldn't really call Pawn similar but if you read the description you'll see how to turn on debugging which will output every found stat to the chat window so you can check if any are missing.
hi, lovely addon btw. simple, which is good. though i have some questions.
firstly in the screen shot it shows the percentage of crit that the intellect score give. is that this mod? if so how do you enable it? does it have dodge and crit for agility etc
and secondly theres a similar mod 'pawn' that notes which stats are not taken into account, would that be possible in this one?
cheers anyway.
I assume the built-in Blizzard item level is shown in the first number and the "calculated" number is shown in the brackets "()"? And this remains consistent for all items (it really should be in the readme)?
There's a screenshot of a belt that drops of The Black Stalker in heroic Underbog which mistakenly has a "use" that doesn't actually do anything rather than an "equip"
Error that has been happening occasionally in WoW 2.2.3 live when doing various things with ItemTips v0.6 (mousing over items, etc.):
"ItemTips\\ItemTips.lua:75: attempt to compare number with nil\nTipHooker-1.0-50447 (TipHookerLib):184: in function <...\\AddOns\\TipHookerLib\\TipHooker-1.0\\TipHooker-1.0.lua:178>\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: ?\n<in C code>: in function `SetHyperlink'\nLudwig\\ui.lua:100: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ludwig\\ui.lua:98>\nLudwig\\ui.lua:130: in function `LudwigUI_OnItemEnter'\n<string>:\"*:OnEnter\":1: in function <[string \"*:OnEnter\"]:1>"
TipHookerLib has been updated (and I'm using the latest r50447) since your last release of ItemTips. Ludwig ( http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info5174-Ludwig.html ) is an in-active-development item database mod that displays items from your itemcache.wdb file. Have received no other error messages containing references to those two mods for months.
That's the single error message involving ItemTips I have seen (recorded with the BugSack/BugGrabber mod). But its still annoying. Appears ItemTip's tooltip hooking doesn't play nicely with other mods. Hope its fixed soon.
Sounds promising, screeny please?
