Are there plans to continue this addon? I loved having an alternative to AtlasLoot when digging around for upgrades ("Where can I upgrade my shield" is often more relevant than "what drops in this dungeon") and the news about transmogrifying gear is going to make this addon or something like it even more useful.

I seem to remember hearing that all*(read 95-99%) of the ingame item data is now stored locally as of the 4.0.3 patch. I have not looked into this myself but if it is true this should help you with a work around for the onload issues. I came across this information in an article about the new Atlasloot for 4.0.3. Another great addon. I hope this helps I miss having your addon on my LDB bar ready at a moment's notice to help answer my guildie's questions.

don't use this until it is fixed for 4.0.3a...
even though I was resulting in no bugs when it would load according to bugsack with !buggrabber...

it would sometimes result in a disconnect when loading the character or after it loads you wait 2-3 seconds and bam you get disconnected from the game... over and over and over.

I checked my errors folder. nothing
I checked the framesXML to see if it was spitting any errors... nope wasn't.

on a 5.9 rating scale if you want a hard number for windows rating system...
I'm not saying its a bad addon, I would of loved it if I was able to use it but at its current version state.. it simply doesn't support 4.0.3a patch.

it will take me some time to fix ItemDB since it seems Blizzard changed the functions to access the cache so it now takes way more time to scan over it :/
So I'll have to rewrite the scanning backend...

I have experienced the same behavior as denlee0710 mentioned below. There are two spots where the loading screen pauses. The first is at ~25% full where it pauses for ~3-5 minutes. It usually proceeds past this to 100% loaded, but then stays there indefinitely. What information do you need or steps you want me to perform to aid in troubleshooting this issue? I happen to really like this addon.

Having this addon enabled would cause wow to be stuck in loading screen for a very long time, eventually getting disconnected and kicked back to login screen. Any chance we'll get an fix/update for this?

How do I use this Addon? is there an icon thats hidden or just not in my view? do i need another addon to call this one? do you have a manual or something?

    Thanks!

ItemDB comes with an LDB feed so in case you have a display addon that supports LDB you should see an icon in it.
Besides that, you can use /itemdb

Very nice addon, my only problem is that sometimes it's mem usage swells to a whopping 11MBs, although it's usually around 1.5-2MBs in size. Any idea what might be causing it?
  • #6
that's totaly normal. Having sortable data for over 10k items DOES take a huge amount of memory. But since it's static memory and not garbage it shouldn't affect gameplay. And if you press reset before closing the frame, the memory should be released, too.

I really like this one alot, but how do you update it with more items that's not already in there?

There are currently two tabs, one for the cache mode and one for the PeriodicTable mode.
In cache mode, it will list all items that are currently in your client's cache. This cache grows everytime you see a new item in game, may it be a drop, at a merchant or weared by another player. Unfortunatly, the cache is wiped every patch. But visiting the AH is a good way to fill it again with a few thousand items :) Just open the AH interface, enter the following in your chat and wait until the list shows up:
    /script QueryAuctionItems("", nil, nil, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, true)

It will list all items currently in the AH on one single page but it can take some time until the data will show up.

In PeriodicTable mode (see: http://www.wowace.com/projects/libperiodictable-3-1/ ), the data for the items is also taken from cache wrt names and tooltips but there will most likely also be a bunch of uncached items shown (things like item:12345). When you click such an item, ItemDB will try to get the item in your cache though if you are unlucky that may fail. And if you are really unlucky (mostly due to asking for to many items not nown by the server, yet) you can be disconnected. So use with care.

Slight bug with the "Close" button. After pressing it, the "Esc" key seems to get blocked from use.

Works ok if you close the window with "Esc" or the "X", but not with the "Close" button.

    Otherwise, nice addon.
