About KACombatLog

Overview:

KACombatLog is a simple and lightweight combat logging addon for World of Warcraft. It is intended for use in capturing combat logs while inside an instance (typically a raid) for later analysis using external tools such as "World of Logs", "WoW Web Stats", etc.

How It Works:

The KACombatLog addon detects whenever you enter or leave an instance. When entering an instance, you will be prompted to enable combat logging, and, when leaving an instance, combat logging will automatically be disabled. The KACombatLog addon includes a minimap icon that turns green when combat logging is enabled, or displays a small icon when combat logging is disabled (see the screenshots for more details).

Chat Commands:

To manually enable or disable combat logging at any point, type /kalog into the chat window, and you will be prompted to enable or disable combat logging.

The only solution for the taint problem is to not to use the StaticPopupDialogs. (whatever preferredIndex you'll set) but instead create a custom frame.

The problem with "perma taint" mentioned by idewayne is that it is caused by the popup that is asking you if you wish to enable combat logging. As you get that popup immediatley after a reload or relog the taint is also reapplied instantly, preventing any attempts to change talents.

Since 5.1 this "perma taints" the talent re-skill ui while in a raid group.
With this addon enabled you can reload/relog... whatever else but you will never be able to re-skill.

I do have quite a lot of addons installed... dont know if its something that it does on its own or not. The one thing I do know is that when I disable this addon (with no other addon changes) this perma taint goes away.

You need to update this addon as of 4.3 the new patch the thing in the top left corner  has diapeared :( I have no choice but not use this anymore cause I can't tell if its enabled or not, please update!

Hi there, as an interim solution the latest release of KACombatLog (v0.2.2) contains BOTH the top-left indicator and the minimap indicator.

The next release of KACombatLog will add configuration settings to toggle the visibility of the indicators so that you can select which one you prefer.

    Hi there bradlee_m;

The latest version of KACombatLog no longer uses the square in the top left corner to indicate whether or not logging is turned on. Instead, it uses an icon on the minimap. This has been the most requested feature (well actually the only requested feature :p).

Here is a screenshot showing the logging enabled:
    Logging Disabled

Here is a screenshot showing the logging disabled:
    Logging Disabled

If this doesn't work for you, please note that the next release of KACombatLog (coming in a day or two) will let you toggle between the old (top left corner square) and new (minimap icon) way of showing the logging status.

I can't seem to find where it saves the logs? Any help?
  • #5

Sorry, missed your question. Logs are saved to your WoW installation folder:

    \World of Warcraft\Logs\WoWCombatLog.txt

You need to use a tool like World of Logs to parse and upload the logs.
