About KeyBinder

Update in 1.5:
- new mouse interface to change mouse binds
- new controls for scale and layout selection
- new layout create allowing you to change the keyboard layout.

I started playing WoW again and couldn't remember what any of my keys did.
I wanted a simple way to quickly see which keys were already bound, and what to, so I made this.

Keybind shows your keyboard, and what each button on your key is bound to. It allows you to drag and drop spells onto keys, and bind macro's to keys.

How to use:

Type /kb or /keybind to access the virtual keyboard.
Hover over the keys to see what they are bound to.
Click on the keys to unbind them or to set them to a different spell/macro:
Click on the modifiers (shift/ctrl/alt) to toggle them on and off, to change the keyboard to show modified keybinds.

Keys are coloured according to binding type:
green - spell
blue - macro
purple - interface

New in 1.5 is a layout editor called "KBEdit" this is a separate addon and can be deleted if you do not wish to use it.

to access, type /kbedit.
a dropdown allows you to select keybind layouts, or layouts you have made yourself.
Keys can be duplicated by alt-shift dragging, resized by dragging the edges, and fine tune positioned by using the scrollwheel and shift-scrollwheel.
Keys are deleted by dragging them off the keyboard.
Layouts can be shared by clicking "Export" and copying the output. This can then be dropped into "Layouts.lua" in KeyBind.

Hey , awesome work on this addon but since 4.3 it isnt workin anymore. Could you pleaseeee update it ? This is my most important addon without it i have no chance of getting high in arena anymore and even for bgs/raids keybinder helps a lot.. There are other things like bartender that offer keybind but IMO its no where near as good as this, its so much simpler to bind and see where your binds are.

Hey, great addon. Do you plan on adding dual spec support at any time?

  • #52

Please keep this updated! I love the simplicity of this addon and would hate for it to fall by the wayside. People preach bartender, but Keybinder is where its at

  • #53

could you let me know what isnt working?

  • #51

I tried hard, but this AddOn isn't usable.

This would be exactly what I want, but I'm finding serious issues.

Some things I noticed while setting upt the g110 layout today:

When trying to use the shift modifier with the scroll keys it will sometimes modify the key width rather than move the key.

Alignment and spacing is difficult to eyeball. I ended up getting a rough layout set up and editing the svar to exact numbers.

The keyboard pallet does not have any sizing.

Font size for key binds in kbedit is larger than in keybind. Consider having kbedit binds appear in a mouseover tooltip similar to what keybind uses.

    Missing keys. (UNKNOWN)

Wont show any mouse of keyboard on my screen. I think it needs to be updated. Will you be updating?

  • #50

It works fine, I use the top-left dropdown box to select 'Laptop'.

Hello I absolutely LOVE this addon. But, it won't display my keybinds on the action bar. It's just completely blank and also it doesn't change the actual character-specific binds too. Please help.

  • #48
to show the keys on the action bar, you would need to bind the key to the action bar, rather than to a spell. I'll take a look at adding character-specific bind support

I'm going to check back on this in a week, and if there are no other issues reported, I'll change the modifier order, and update the addon as "Release" instead of Beta.

I looked forever to find a way to change the right mouse button keybind to the middle mouse button. I was able to DELETE the right mouse button keybind function, but not to put it back on. I had to do a delete mod/reset keybindings to get it to work. So all my keybindings went bye bye. Could I suggest 2 changes: Allow any mouse button to perform the function of any other mouse button, and a flash keybinding store feature (it takes a screenshot of your keybindings when you last logged on and saves them in a temporary location to be recalled later if you make a mistake.) But other than that, great mod:)

If you click "export" and copy the code it generates, you can share your layout with others. (just drop it into layouts.lua)
