Sample Scripts

OnClick now provides a pressed and released variable you can check for.

if pressed then
  -- do mouse down actions
elseif released then
  -- do mouse up actions
end

This means your script will get called twice when someone clicks the panel.

Ive created an Example Texture Pack.

This example pack is just a template. If you want to use it as a storage spot for your art, look at the read me file for directions on usage.

    I just tried out KGPanels and I love the level of customization I can achieve with the addon. However, I have a question, and maybe someone can help answer it, or, point me to a resource guide or tutorial to help me out.

    Is it possible to reskin part of the blizzard UI with KGPanels, more specifically, the Chat Tabs and Chat Edit Box frames? I've been trying to figure it out, but no luck so far. I can anchor the panels to the correct spots, but they won't actually reskin/replace whats already there. I know this can be done with Skinner, but Skinner is so bloated for what I need.

    Thank you!

    Use Chatter to edit your chat. kgPanels is more for placing art and boxes around elements of the UI than changing border textures.
    Chatter: - Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
    -Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box

    so far congrats for a very nicely done addon.

    suggestion: color copy/paste :D
    would make it much easier to create matching background parts to puzzle together.

    weird stuff:
    panels randomly change their size (ranges between .5 and 5 pixels :x)

    so far, sky
    and thanks for a very sweet addon

    ah one more thing:

    once it didnt work for a panel, it wont ever (for this panel))

    add self:Hide() as your onload script
  • #95
    Kagaro, i used a sample script from your list, to show the panel when you're struck in combat.

    Show a panel based on being in combat

    OnLoad

    self:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_REGEN_DISABLED")
    self:RegisterEvent("PLAYER_REGEN_ENABLED")

    OnEvent

    if event == "PLAYER_REGEN_ENABLED" then
    self:Hide()
    elseif event == "PLAYER_REGEN_DISABLED" then
    self:Show()
    end

    It works great, the only problem is that when i log in to the game, the combat frame is shown... and then i have to enter combat and leave it to make it go away. Isn't there a way to make that panel hidden upon login, so it would be shown for the fist time only when i enter combat?

    Thanks a lot and grats for your excelent work!

    NVM... I figured that out.

    A simple self:Hide() on the OnLoad tab solved the problem.

    Thx.

    Was added to allow you to emulate a button with la push texture or higlight when you click down.

    change you script to be

    if button == "RightButton" and released then
    ToggleFrame(WorldMapFrame)
    end

    I added suppor ti 1.24 to let you onClick script see mouse up/down states via the local variabled

    pressed
    released

    Thank you.

    Just updated to 1.24 and something changed with an OnClick script I have.

    I have a panel that sits over my minimap with OnClick script:

    if button == "RightButton" then
    ToggleFrame(WorldMapFrame)
    end

    So when I right clicked it, it opened up my map. Now, its acting more like OnMouseDown instead of OnClick. When I'm holding my right mouse button down on the panel it shows the map, but as soon as I release it toggles again.

    the texture missing message means wow failed to load it does it conform to all image requirements? if you want you can PM a link to the image and i can trye to load it and see whats going on.
  • #90
    The file is under Interface\Addons\textures\test.tga
    I also changed the image sized to 512 X 256
    Using the path \\Interface\\Addons\\textures\\test.tga

    Still getting the texture missing line =(

    This makes me sad because I'm currently using Electroflux Textronator to texture my addon, and I'm trying to switch to a more updated add-on.

    Paths for textures must be under interface\addons for wow to see them, placing them directly under interface will not work.
