LevelBuddy is an addon for use between friends who want to see each other's XP on their own XP bar. The options can be found by typing "/levelbuddy".

Features

  • Works with WoW friends and Battle.net friends (that are on the same realm/faction at the time)
  • Show XP markers for all guildies who are using LevelBuddy
  • Class coloured XP markers
  • Change marker shape, width, height, offset, opacity and more!
  • Detailed XP information when mousing over a marker
  • Display the XP markers on either the default xp bar, the LevelBuddy custom bar, or not at all (also has built in support for BasicExperienceBar, XPBarNone and BetterEXP)
  • LDB plugin support (and the ability to track 1 friend in the display addon)

Got it to work one time and the next night it would not work for anyting. Any update coming out for this?
  • #20
My partner and I just tried adding it to our games. It works fine for me (on a Mac), but we can't get it to show up at all on the PC, even though it says it's loaded. Any ideas? We'd really like to try this!
  • #23
I am a PC user myself and that's what I tested all versions of LevelBuddy on.

What have you done to try get it to "show up"? Does the options panel work? Have you enabled Lua errors in the "Help" section of interface options to see if the addon is giving you some errors?

This randomly stops working for my bf and I while we're using it. We also need to reconnect by turning the bar on and off (the mover check box), removing the connected buddy and resubmitting their name, every log in, is this normal?
  • #22
No that isn't normal. Are you logging out correctly every time? The saved variables won't save if the game crashes/disconnects/alt-f4's.

A heads up - this addon appears to not work with Bartender4, a pretty standard bar addon (and yes, the XP bar is on). With Bartender4 off, I see all 5 XP markers. With Bartender4 on, I see only my marker (while other's bars continue to work, even seeing my marker). This happens even when I use the "custom" bar in LevelBuddy options.

This is a bit of a deal-breaker for me, as I dislike the standard bars. I'd love it if you could fix this! Let me know if you need help. (Side note: I'm using guild send/show.)

This is also having some weird behavior in general - the options pane seems not to work if you ONLY load LevelBuddy. Maybe check to make sure all your variables are "local" and you embed the libraries you need.
  • #21
I use Bartender myself and have never had a any trouble with them conflicting. I will take another look though to see if there's anything that could be causing it.

Addons list in game for me. It shows up under addons in the character selection stage, and it is checked along with load out of date addons. I simply don't know what happened.
  • #16
Hmm I'm not sure why this would be happening as this is the only report I've had about it. All I can suggest for now is to try redownloading LevelBuddy.
  • #13
How does this handle players who are higher/lower level than you?
  • #15
The xp markers are positioned based on the percentage progress through a level, so you can see players of all levels.

If a player is higher/lower than you, there is an option to change the opacity of the marker (which I think is set to about 0.6 by default).

I am actually have the same problem as gamer3994 below. I can not check on any of the boxes. Would be great addon if the check boxes worked for me. Also tried it on my other computer and it still does not work.
