About LiteMount
Summon a random location-appropriate mount. Supports new mounts automatically. Supports druid forms, Ghost Wolf, Running Wild and zone-specific mounts.
It is cleanly written, comprehensive, and is designed to work out of the box and not require frequent updating.
Supported Mounts
- Mount spell tab mounts (ground, swimming and flying)
- Druid Forms (Flight, Aquatic and Travel)
- Shaman Ghost Wolf
- Running Wild (Worgen Racial)
- Item-summoned mounts (Hallow's End brooms, Tarecgosa's Visage)
- Ahn'Qiraj "Battle Tank" Mounts
- Vashj'ir Abyssal Seahorse
How To Use
To use LiteMount, either:
- Drag the macro it creates, named "LiteMount" onto a button on your action bar.
- Set keybindings for LiteMount in the Blizzard "Key Bindings" options.
Left-clicking the macro button will summon a mount, right-clicking will summon a non-flying mount. Or press the keys you have bound to either option. If you are already mounted it will dismount you. If you are in a vehicle it will exit the vehicle.
Mount Selection
A mount is selected based on the following criteria (in this order), until it finds a mount you know and can use:
- If you are already mounted, dismount/cancelform.
- If you can fly, use a random flying mount (unless non-flying button/key is used).
- If you in a special zone (Vashj'ir, AQ), then use a random mount for that zone.
- If you are swimming, use a random swimming mount.
- If you are "outdoors", use a random ground mount.
- If you are "outdoors", use a random slow ground mount (ghost wolf, travel form).
In addition, if you are moving or falling it will only consider instant-cast mounts (druid forms, talented Ghost Wolf, and (during Hallows End) Flying Broom).
Prioritizing Flight Form
Druids probably want to always use flight form because it is instant-cast. To force Flight Form, start moving before you mount. Moving will cause LiteMount to only enable instant-cast mounts and use Flight Form.
LiteMount Options / Excluding Mounts
Open the LiteMount options panel from the Blizzard interface settings or by using the /litemount (or /lmt) chat command.
From the options panel you can see a scrollable list of all your mounts, and whether they are flagged as being appropriate for various situations.
- Enable or disable use of each mount with the checkbox at the left side of the line for that mount.
- Override where the mount should be summoned with the flags on the right side.
You can individually toggle these flags: Run, Fly, Swim, Ahn'Qiraj, Vash'jir. A flag you have changed from the default will have a red background on the checkbox. Most likely the only reason you want to do this is to ground-enable some flying mounts that are usable in non-flying areas, or to enable druid Aquatic Form in Vash'jir.
Setting the LiteMount flags does not change what the mount can do, only when LiteMount will try to summon it. LiteMount does not stop you setting incorrect flags, which can result in bogus "unable to mount" errors as it tries to use mounts you can't use. If in doubt, leave the flags unchanged. If you get confused click the "Defaults" button and then "Just this addon" from the dialog box that pops up to reset LiteMount's options.
Benefits of LiteMount
LiteMount does not rely on any external libraries or addons. It will not break because some version of LibMountJuggler-3.0 wasn't updated; or was updated. LiteMount automatically supports new ordinary (appear in the Mounts tab, don't require specific zones) flying/ground/swimming mounts without needing to be updated. LiteMount does not rely on hard-coded English names for anything and will work in any locale.
Limitations of LiteMount
Because Blizzard does not provide an automatic way to distinguish between flying mounts that can be used as ground mounts and those that can't, it will not use flying mounts in non-flying locations. (Actually I think this is a feature, since there's plenty of chance to see your flying mounts and not much chance to see your ground mounts.)
LiteMount cannot mount in combat. It has a default set of combat actions which can dismount you, exit vehicles, or cast Travel Form, Aquatic Form or Ghost Wolf. This is extremely restricted and can't use any of the addon smarts,
LiteMount does not let you prioritize mounts, group mounts, customize mounts per zone, or any of those other fancy things that Mounted used to do and more fully featured (but more fragile and likely to fall into disrepair) mounting addons do.
LiteMount does not show an icon for which mount you are going to get next: it has no idea until you actually push the button.
You Used The Mechanostrider Icon, Are You Crazy?
Yes I did, gnomes are awesome, deal with it. If you don't like the macro icon, you can change it manually. LiteMount will not change it back.
If This AddOn Seems Abandoned
If more than two weeks go by after a major patch and this addon isn't updated, I've probably been hit by a bus. In that case I encourage anyone with the necessary ability to take over maintenance of the addon. It is released under the terms of the GNU General Public License, which means anyone can take it and do whatever they want with it, as long as they too release their code under the same terms.

Add zhCN translation seen in the addon repackage on duowan.com. Looks
the same as the zhTW translation to me.
Added the capability to translate the "Non-flying Mount" text in the
keybindings. Hopefully the same helpful Chinese-speaking people will
translate it also.

not sure if I am missing something, but I am unable to activate Cheeta Aspects with litemount.
No, you're not missing anything. LiteMount doesn't do hunter aspects.
If you are interested you can download the beta version (it's very stable, it just has new features that aren't finished). In the custom macro tab of the config you can enter a macro to cast your aspect. LiteMount (beta) will use it if it can't use a mount when you press the button (because you are in a non-mountable area, or you are moving and don't know any instant-cast mounts).
If you find that useful please let me know how it works, or if it's not useful I'd be interested in feedback about why it's not.
Best wishes, X.
thanks for the prompt replay...
and poop! *smile
Really good addon, i highly recommend it!
I've started a set of 4.3.3 Beta releases, with 4.3.3beta1. There will probably be quite a few of these and I expect 4.3.3 to be a fair way off yet.
With these betas I'm implementing "Last Resort" macro support. This is a macro you can enter yourself which LiteMount will run if it can't find a mount you can use right now. This will let you use you rocket belt, slow fall, levitate, flexweave underlay, etc., completely customizable by you.
At the moment the macro only works out of combat. I don't know if it will ever work in combat; it's 50-50 at best.
The macro is entered via the second options panel frame, "LiteMount : Macros". There's not much UI for it yet and no explanation or help.
Feedback is appreciated (although if the feedback is "this sucks and you should take it back out again" you'd better explain why in some detail).
Version 4.3.2 is released. Fixes the bug with in-combat Ghost Wolf.
Remember if you can speak both English and any other language WoW is available in, please contact me to help translate 5-6 phrases for LiteMount's user interface.
Litemount still does not seem to work in combat. Changed the macro to this to make it work
/click [nocombat, nobtn:2] LiteMount
/click [nocombat, btn:2] LiteMount RightButton
/cast [combat] Ghost Wolf
It would probably work the same for druids, just replace Ghost Wolf with Travel Form
Thanks for the bug report. I found a typo with the in-combat Ghost Wolf support. I have fixed and tested it, and it will be fixed in the next release.
Here's something I think I could do.
You create your own macro in the normal blizzard macros with a special name, say LiteMountLastResort or something. Then if LiteMount couldn't find anything else to do, it would run your macro.
Could you use that to do what you are after?
The only downside is I don't think it could do it in combat. Would that make it useless?
Edit: The curse comment threading is really !@#%ed up. :(
a few questions:
one of the options I liked from mounted was that when I was indoors I could set it to use my belt from engineering. Could this be permitted in the form of a custom spell?
And it isnt showing me which mount icon it will use on the bar when I drag the macro out and onto my bars. Can the showtooltip be incorporated?
There are a number of extra things LiteMount could do, which I'm not sure whether (a) are possible and (b) are a good idea. I am definitely thinking of ways to include them, but don't have any definite plans yet and won't put them into LiteMount until I'm sure I can do them right.
For the rocket belt (or arbitrary extra spell), how would LiteMount choose when to use it? How would you configure it?
For this one, the answer is no. LiteMount doesn't know what mount it's going to use until you push the button, so it can't show an icon for it. Mounted was extremely CPU wasteful, constantly running its mount choosing code and updating things (sapping your frame rate). This is the opposite of my goals for LiteMount, which is to be simple, maintainable and efficient. LiteMount doesn't bother trying to check if you are inside, or outside, or swimming, can fly, etc., until you activate it to try to mount.
Best wishes and happy adventuring, X.
Thanks for the answer. Given what you said about the display icon, I can appreciate your view.
The belt item: I had it set to use this when in combat or when indoors.
Version 4.3.0 is released, supporting WoW version 4.3. Happy patch day everyone!
Version 4.2.7 is released.
It supports translation into other languages (although I don't speak any so need people to submit the translatsion), and a better in-combat macro to allow Ghost Wolf, Travel Form and Aquatic Form.
The in-combat form support has only undergone basic testing and may contain bugs.
