About LockSmith

LockSmith is an addon for rogues. It will show a lockpicking button if you have a lockbox in your inventory that you can unlock.

Keep clicking the button to unlock all boxes. The button will disappear when you have no more lockboxes that you can unlock.

Hold down the alt-key while dragging to move the button.

I recommend my CrowBar addon to open the boxes after unlocking them all.

ditch spellbook scanning for 4.0
use player level * 5 for LP level in 4.0 - it no longer exists as an actual skill.

    I added the following line (after line 35; i.e., create a *new* line 36) to (hopefully) allow for the new Cataclysm Lockbox, the Elementium Lockbox. I'm testing this today, but it *should* work.

    [68729] = 425, -- Elementium Lockbox

    to line 15 of LockSmith.lua to get it working with Cataclysm mobs!

    Hey great addon but i am having a problem with it. It started when 4.0.3 hit. I can not get it to show the button to unlock the boxes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now and i still get nothing. Any ideas on how to fix this. I know it it not a conflict with any of my other addons because i have ran it alone.

    This happened to me as well. What I found was that in my addons list, the addon was actually disabled. Not sure why it disabled as I had enabled it and not changed it, but there it was. This may have happened to you as well. Double-check your addons list before logging onto your character.

    Ammo the fixed release is marked as an Alpha so it's not showing up by default in the curse client or here.

    The fix for 4.0.1 Issues: Lockpicking was changed so you don't have to level it like a skill anymore.

    Open LockSmith.lua in a text editor (like notepad)

    On lines 70, 72, 79, and 80 put a -- (two dashes) at the beginning to comment the calls to GetLockSpell and GetLockPickLevel, which aren't needed.

    On line 116, replace lockpickskill with UnitLevel("player") * 5

    On Line 43, make it say local hasspell = true

    I am not getting the locksmith button when i have a locked chest in my inventory the only two addons i am running are this and crowbar and i do get the crowbar button after i manually unlock the chest with my lockpick skill so im pretty sure they are installed correctly any thoughts or ideas on what might be the problem ?

    I really cant believe what just happened !!!! I had modified the code for my own use to work on WotLK and now this new version comes up :)
    But what's REALLY freaky that except for some capital letters in the new version and a line of comments I deleted it's EXACTLY the same code !!!

    Just ONE difference that may cause an issue.
    On my code I have
    [43624] = 400, -- Titanium Lockbox
    On the new version it is
    [54624] = 400, -- Titanium Lockbox
    I got my item number from wowhead and it's pretty safe that their ItemID is right.

    Hope this helps anyone that has an issue.

    This one seems to work for me except WoTLK stuff. If I knew how to code it I would definately fix it.
