About Loremaster

New Loremaster

Starting with the Loremaster release for 5.4, Loremaster will require the use of the Grail addon to provide quest data. The interface and functionality will remain basically the same, but because quest information will be taken from Grail, the goal is to provide more up-to-date information for Loremaster. Please create a ticket if you find problems with the quest information. If there are interface problems, or functionality problems with Loremaster please comment here.

Loremaster

Loremaster helps you locate any quests you are missing from any Loremaster achievement. The database contains over 5,600 quests extracted from Wowhead but excludes any that do not count towards a Loremaster achievement. Please note this addon is intended to be used after you have finished questing through the usual methods and are looking for quests to complete the achievement. If you try to use it an area you haven't quested in before, it will get very confusing, very quickly.

Loremaster also includes an option to display the locations of questgivers for incomplete quests on the main game map.

Please note: Loremaster does not know if you have completed any prerequisite breadcrumb trails or achieved any required faction levels, that's up to you to determine with the help of the information that Loremaster presents to you.

Loremaster is a standalone addon, but is much more effective when used with excellent TomTom and LightHeaded addons which Loremaster will interact with.

If LightHeaded is not installed, Loremaster will generate a link for the selected quest that you can paste into your web browser to take you straight to the relevant page on Wowhead.

Using Loremaster

Loremaster can be displayed using one of three methods

  1. Open your Quest Log and click the Loremaster button at the bottom
  2. Click the Data Broker button if you have a data broker addon installed (see below)
  3. Type /lm or /lm show

Quests are colour coded as follows:

  • The quest begins a series
  • <White> The quest is a standalone quest
  • The quest begins with an item drop
  • The quest is part of a series

Bug Reports / Change Requests

If you find any bugs, any quest information that is incorrect (wrong zone, doesn't count for Loremaster, quest missing etc), or have any new feature requests, please use this link to report them:

Data Broker

Loremaster includes Data Broker support. This provides one click access to the interface and right click access to a drop down menu.

NOTE: To see the Data Broker features, you will need to use a Data Broker Display addon, such as Bazooka, Button Bin, Fortress or Chocolate Bar.

Slash commands

Loremaster supports /lm or /loremaster

  • /lm or /lm show - Display the Loremaster interface
  • /lm hide - Hide the Loremaster interface
  • /lm reset - Reset and rebuild Loremaster's available quest list

Locales

Loremaster is currently localised for enUS, ruRU, frFR and deDE. If you would like to contribute to translating Loremaster, please use the following link:

Please note that the quest names and NPC names are not included in the locale and will still appear in English.

OK. For those of you seeing a bug, could you please raise a ticket with as much information as possible, including client language. I am completely unable to replicate any problems at the moment, so it may be client specific or I may be just missing something silly. It could also be useful if you would include the contents of:

    World Of Warcraft/Logs/FrameXML.log

This contains details of problems with addons during loading. It looks like Loremaster's main frame is not being created, there are any number of reasons this could be happening, but since I can't reproduce it I'm totally reliant on data from those of you who can.

Just tried it out, first off I had to fix a lua error that you missed, also, it doesnt show up any quests at all in the windows, just the name "Pandaria", greyed out in the top-left box.

  • #128

Are you definately running the latest release version? I've just tried running this from the downloaded verison with Loremaster as the only addon and it functions perfectly for me.

If you are seeing a bug, please file a ticket here, providing as much detail as possible so I can investigate further:

I'm seeing the same thing. I disabled all add-ons and loremaster won't show up on one toon and the other toon that it will show up on, just shows it grayed out. I'ved deleted my WTF folder and un-installed\reinstalled. Though I am doing it via the Curse client

Oddly it was working fine in 5.04 and I just disabled it from the add-on screen. Not sure what changed and what other add-on it keeping it from working under the character it was working under..

    Hi,

My game is in French but quests listed are in english. And icons quests doesn't appears on my map :/

  • #126

As shown in the addon description, quest and npc names are in English only. The reason for this is that there are over 6000 quests currently in Loremaster and storing translations for the 11 current WoW locales would result in an enormous addon. Unfortuntately I know of no way to get the quest title in game until you actually have it in your log.

As far as the icons are concerned, have you checked the option to show them? If you have and they are still not showing, let me know and I will investigate further.

Awesome addon - thx for all your hard work.

Request: Some method of making the Quests appear for those characters who "have not" already earned the Loremaster title.

Due to the recent account wide achv shares - it is messing up Loremaster for my other toons.

  • #122

The trouble is that Loremaster and it's associated achievements are now account-wide, so there is no way to detect which characters would otherwise not have gained a specific achievement without counting all qualifying quests for each zone - something I'll look into the practicality of later (as it's just dawned on me as I type Laughing). In the meantime your only option is to change Loremaster's setting that hides completed achievments.

  • #120

LoreMaster seems not to work with 5.0.5 - hopeing for a fix soon !

  • #123

I'm not seeing any problems specific to 5.0.5. Can you be more specific and perhaps raise a ticket with any error information you may have please?

  • #118

I love this addon. My main has completed just shy of 10,000 quests and this addon has helped me immensely

Having said that, I hope you don't mind a request.

Most of the zones still have exclamation marks because I missed a breadcrumb quest. Is there any way you could mark breadcrumb quests, and any quests that will be unobtainable once a later quest has been completed, as a different color so that we can complete these quests first.

Thanks again for an awesome addon

  • #113

Hmm - must be my fault, but it doesn't show me any quest at all in the LM-window. It asks to query the completed quests from the server, but it still shows nothing afterwards.

Where's my mistake? It should be all up to date, and the LM Database ain't marked as depreviated.

  • #114

Sorry - there is a bug preventing quests from showing properly - I'll do some investigation and try to get it sorted as soon as possible

  • #117

Hmm... that might be an answer for my Horde-toons...

But it shouldn't count for my small Ally, which is the first of his kind in my tiny toon-family. Anyway I will check that, thanks bunches!

EDIT: Okay, I checked it out - I unchecked the first of the LM-options (about the completed achievements), and now it all works like a charm. I guess that was, what you meant, right? Thanks for your kind help!!  =o)
