About Mage Nuggets

Mage Nuggets

Mage Nuggets is a utility with many useful nuggets to make the lives of mages easier.

USE: "/magenuggets"

  • Purge Monitor: Displays purgeable buffs on your current target. Lets you know what spells you have purged in a linkable format.
  • Hex Monitor
  • Hibernate Monitor
  • Eclipse Monitor and Cast Boxes added (See Mage Nugget Options > Moonkin)
  • Cooldown Monitor for Starfall and Treants added (See Mage Nugget Options > Cooldowns)
  • Custom Treant sounds and the stat monitor also works for Moonkin. The stat monitor includes all Moonkin talents, auras and procs and will display your actual stats in real time. You can use the default sound for your Treants or use your own. Simply copy a sound file such as a mp3 to your mage nugggets/sounds/ folder. Trim your sound to 30 seconds so it stops playing when your Treants expire.
  • Dispel Monitor: Displays dispellable buffs on your target. Lets you know what you dispelled in a linkable format
  • Shackle Undead Monitor
  • Customizable Power Infusion notify message
  • Customizable Guardian Spirit notify message
  • Customizable Pain Suppression notify message
Mage Procs:

You will be notified when you acquire a Mage proc via a proc monitor and combat text. The proc monitors track the duration of the proc and help you never miss a proc. Examples: Hot Streak, Arcane Missile, Brain Freeze, Fingers of Frost

Portal and Teleport Menu:

Click the mini-map button to display portals, teleports and hearthstone. Teleports and portals can take up tons of bar space and this will fix that. If you do not wish to use the mini-map button simply make a macro with "/magenuggets ports" and drag it to your bars. This will give you all of your ports, teleports, and hearthstone on one hotbar button.

Stat Monitor:

Right clicking the stat monitor will bring up a menu to select which stats to display.

Works for all classes and specs.

This is not just a generic stat monitor showing your basic stats. It is a powerful raid utility and will help any class maximize their DPS. Staying in range of buffs and auras, timing cooldowns and procs and many other uses that the stat monitor provides are all vital to maximizing your DPS.

  • Spellpower
  • Attack Power
  • Crit%
  • Haste
  • Mastery
  • Multistrike
  • Leech
  • Versatility
  • Spirit
  • Mana Regen
Frost Bomb \ Nether Tempest:

Tracks your frost bomb cooldown, allowing you to know exactly when to cast it. Tracks the Nether Tempest on your current target.

Mirror Image Timer:

A timer will be displayed showing exactly when your Mirror Images expire. Your threat is neutral while your images are active and the timer helps manage when to drop your aggro.

Proc and Mirror Image sound

Customizable sounds for procs and mirror images. Add your own sounds or songs or use the default. Also works for Moonkin Treants. This option is off by default. Go to the sound tab in the Mage Nuggets options to add your own sounds or songs. Simply copy your sound file, such as a mp3 or wav, into the magenuggets/sounds/ folder. Trimming your sounds to 30 seconds is advised as it will stop playing the exact time your Images or treants expire.

Cauterize Cooldown Tracker:

Tracks the cooldown on your Cauterize ability, allowing you to know when you can be safe from insta death.

Living Bomb Counter:

Displays the number of targets you currently have Living Bomb on, the name of the last target you applied Living Bomb on and the status bar and timer showing the duration of that living bomb

Slow Fall:

When Slow Falling a party member a editable message will be sent to notify them that they have been Slow Falled. Hardly anyone notices when you slowfall them. Why let such a wonderful spell go to waste.

Arcane Blast Monitor
  • Displays the count of arcane blasts currently up and a status bar showing the duration of the stack.
  • Arcane Blast Cast Time Tracker, Will display your Arcane Blast cast time and will display "Capped" if you manage to get your Arcane Blast cast time lower then your global cool down.
Polymorph Monitor:

The Polymorph Monitor shows your current Polymorphed target and the duration of the spell. You will be notified when someone breaks your Polymorphed mob.

SpellSteal Monitor:
  • Displays stealable buffs on enemies that you have targeted. Some buffs were just ment to be stolen and this helps you find them. If you don't have Spellsteal on your bars, you will.
  • Notifies you when you successfully steal something via combat text and the chat console and tells you what you stole in a linkable format.

Displays who Innervated you and sends them a editable message thanking them for their kind deed. Druids need love to.

Time Warp and Bloodlust:

You will be notified which Mage or Shaman's bloodlust you are affected by.

Camera Zoom:

Allows you to zoom the camera out past the default range for maximum situational awareness.

I've tested your new LB monitor on dummies and the display actually seems to sync up with the actual debuff expiring/exploding. I shall test further in a raid setting throughout the week and get back to you. Someone mentioned it's too big and a call back for the old size. Using your feature for the old monitor it seems the "old" monitor has now become the tweaked new and more useful monitor. The name of your target isn't really needed especially if one is in a single target fight.

I would remove the long monitor altogether as you should be aiming for a proc icon this neat on all your monitors. Even the cast bar isn't adding too much unnecessary clutter as the timer is clearly displayed inside it and it syncs up perfectly. The bar was just too long in the original attempt to add a timer.

As for other timers, even Hot Streak shouldn't be such a long bar, but rather a neat little icon with the time remaining in the same fashion as the small LB icon. Every Mage should know what their proc icons look like, and thus seeing HOT STREAK is cool, but we should already see that from scrolling combat text, but if we've been playing our class at all we should know what our icons look like. Consider updating this, as well as many other icons that add unnecessary clutter (Mirror Images, Fingers of Frost, Brain Freeze, Impact, Water Elemental).

Also, when you have time might I propose a better Living Bomb counter? On Lich King I'm currently just stacking LB on all the targets around him in P1 and letting the explosions that hit him boost my damage, and in P3 I'm LBing all the Vile Spirits and Blizz spamming. A tracker should track multiple targets and would only be useful and turned on for trash pulls or bosses such as LK. Take a look at Magefever's LB tracker for instance. That addon has a very useful one. It shows the name of each target in either ascending or descending order by time remaining and the time remaining is ticking down next to each target. It really helps tab through targets quickly to find the target your plan to refresh LB on first. Also, the LB monitor should coincide with the tracker and only show the time remaining on your current target (not last cast). This way identifying the shortest time remaining LB target is much easier by tabbing through and starting your AOE rotation back. This would be very useful for FFB and TtW FB Mages who use it for trash and specific encounters. If you would like me to explain what I mean further feel free to send me a message.

I use the small one still, Only reason I made the bigger one is because a friend of mine bugged me to make one that showed the name of the last casted LB target so I added it for him. As far as displaying all of them in say a stack of status bars, I personally find this to busy for my taste but I see how it could useful in certain situations.

I have already made a small missile barrage monitor with just the icon and statusbar like the ab stack monitor. I just need to add a option to enable it and added the frame to the addon, as well as make one for each proc. Been pretty busy but I will look into it. Thanks for your feedback once again sir. :)

It seems as of today's patch (3.3.3), Fingers of Frost no longer triggers a Mage Nugget bar display.
  • #339
I can confirm this. Tested in a variety of situations (heroics, dummy, etc.)

Not only is the monitor not displaying, but neither the combat text nor the proc sound are triggering. Haven't tested on other procs besides FoF.
  • #340
I uploaded a new version a few hours ago that fixed it (1.78). Just waiting on curse to approve it. Thanks for your guys insight on this. I don't currently have a frost spec so I would not have caught it. My hat is off to you guys.
  • #329
Dang I forgot to ask. I dont suppose you have anything like this for Warlocks? Or can this be used for warlocks?
  • #341
I have a good friend who is a lock and could probably have him do the testing for me, but what exactly did you have in mind. I could easily make the stat monitor work for locks accurately but beyond that I don't know what I could do. I know very little about locks.
  • #344
Well basically something to moniter DOT i know there are several out there like DoTimer but i like the look of yours. and there are some procs that locks get once the boss is below 35% and things like that.

My biggest thing about your addon isthe auditory sounds its hard to read scrolling text all the time when u r trying to watch what you r doing. the soundshelp remind me HEY BUTTHEAD u got a treat :)
So if u had something to warn a dot IS ALMOST DONE THAT WOULD BE great.

    Awesome addon!!!
  • #323
Hi. Thank you for this awesome add-on.
I have a problem though : the missile barrage proc doesn't show D:
It worked well on another computer, i've checked the .lua files and nothing seems to be different....
    Any advice please ?
  • #333
Please disable ALL other addons except mage nuggets and then see if it works. If so, enable a few addons at a time to single out which addon is causing the problem. Please get back to me.
  • #334
Hi again. I disabled all the other addons, got the MB proc visual alert again (i only had the sound alert previously btw), then enabled the addons back one by one, but strangely, the proc alert is still here and working fine.
Maybe there's a problem in specific situations ?
Thank you for the reply, i'll get back to you if anything fishy happens again.
  • #320
OMG this really REALLY is a great addon for mages.
  • #301
Is there any way to hide the monitor when not in combat or not in raid/party? I love it for combat, but otherwise it's somewhat bulky and doesn't flesh well with my UI. Thanks!
  • #332
There currently isnt a option for this but I will definitely look into adding it. You can customize the way the monitor looks to help it blend into your UI. You can remove the border and make the background transparent so you just see the text. Then you can put it on top of something else to make it look better if that helps. Thanks for your feed back!
