About Magic Looter

Addon Support Statement

Hello everyone. I'm no longer actively playing World of Warcraft (and haven't for many months). I'm looking for someone to take over maintenance of my addons. If you're interested, and have at least one released addon, send me a message at neotron+curse@gmail.com

Addon Description
What is Magic Looter?

Magic Looter is an addon to make master looting easier to manage. Specifically it will automatically loot Bind on Equip or non-binding items to people of your choosing. There are two recipient lists - bank items and disenchanting. Every time you open the loot windows, Magic Looter will scan the items and using the predefined lists will send the item to the appropriate recipient. If none of the players on the predefined list are available as loot recipients, the item will be looted to yourself.

Note that this is only useful for master looting. It doesn't do anything if there is another loot method use. Also note that it is primarily designed to work with uncommon loot threshold, it can be used with any threshold. However the higher the threshold, the lower the value of the addon.

Is that it?

No, there's also an optional addon that replaces the Master Loot menu. It adds class sorted looting (instead of group based), random roll tracking and quick looting to self, disenchanter or banker. There's also an option to start a new DKP bid (that hooks into MagicDKP Bidder). Looting done via the addon will also be recorded in MagicDKP if present.

Why do I need this?

I wrote this because my guild collect all greens for disenchanting, later used to provide free enchants to raiders, and I got tired of manually distribute master loot items.

It is likely we'll see the return of both epic gems, BoE patterns and BoE crafting materials in future WotLK raids which greatly will increase the value of the addon.

Development Status

Early production. Auto-loot and master loot functionality works great.

If anyone wants to get this mod working, edit your Magiclooter/embeds.xml file and add the line "" without quotes in the list. Works like a charm after doing so.

The fix for this is a simple typo.
Log out of WoW completely. Go to your add-ons folder and navigate to ...Interface/Addons/MagicLooter_LootMenu/MagicLooter_LootMenu.toc

Right-click the toc file and "open with" Wordpad (or notepad).

Near the bottom, you will see the following line: Libs\AceHook-3,0\AceHook-3.0.xml

If you look carefully you will notice that Libs\"AceHook-3,0" is ACTUALLY A COMMA instead of a PERIOD. I have copied and pasted here, you can see it.

Change the offending comma to a period, it should say "Libs\AceHook-3.0\AceHook-3.0.xml"

Select "File" from the top menu, and "save." Presto, fixt.

    Oops. Fixing it.

it seems that it doesnt work with wow 3.13 en-us
  • #12
How can i add Enchanter with Symbols like ÁÀÄ or other Symbols in the Name?
After the "Save" I've new Symbols instead of the old Symbols (like ÁÀ).

I hope you understand me. ;-)

Seems broken with 3.1, a fix would be nice. :)

    Great mod, can't live w/out.

Dhedbor - Loving the adjustment you have made. This mod has cut out a large portion of my time by autolooting trash (greens) to my disenchanter, and the loot menu's are teriffic. Great work thanks!

@Scimi - You have to be in a raid and ML for this mod to work (although i haven't tested it in a party with ML)

@Topsi - i had the very same problem, but a newer release took care of that for me. If you are upgrading make sure you delet the old version 1st and NOT overwrite it.

    Hi Unrak,
i did exactly what you said, but there isnt a minimap icon or any sign of life from Magic Looter. Maybe it doesnt work with the german client.
  • #9
OK maybe you think Iam dumb but after I download the ACE 3 libraries it worked very fine thanks for such a good work.
  • #10
Oh I bet I messed up the Ace3 dependencies again. I'll check this, probably tomorrow, and fix any mistakes.

    Hi,
I have a problem with Magic Looter because I found no command or minimap button to open a configuration window.
And when I have ML rights there is no " Magic Loot Frame" it seems like the addon isnt working.

    Have a problem ...

i use a german client and Magic Looter will not work ... in my addon frame this addon is enabled but nothing happens if i log in, kill a monster and loot him.
There is only the default loot frame from blizzard.

Nice addon, thanks for your work!

Would it be possible to include an optional popup box "Enable auto loot for this raid?" every time when a raid with masterloot is joined or loot method is changed to masterloot?

I'm using MagicLooter to auto loot in our guilds 25 man raids. In other raids, especially 10 man, i want to use the MagicLooter loot menu but not the auto loot. At the moment i always have to rember to disable or enable auto loot via the options.
