About Mappy

I'm not updating Mappy for now

I've suspended my WoW subscription and will probably not be playing again until the next expansion. If you come up with code changes to fix problems introduced by content patches in the meantime, please post your fixes in the comments section and I'll work on getting them integrated and posted.

About Mappy

Mappy is a minimap addon which changes the standard round minimap into a square minimap. In addition, it adds these features to the minimap:

  • Automatic layout of addon buttons
  • Zooming in and out with the mouse wheel
  • Combat alpha setting
  • Save and load profiles (size, position, settings, etc.)
  • Flashing nodes for better visibility (off by default)
  • Gathering overlay support for Gatherer and GatherMate

    this is a slight issue as i put this in for beta and the Garrison Report button is stuck over the top of where map cord's is and can't me moved :( i have a screen shot of it to show but not seeing a way to add it as it don't have a URL.

    Another fix for the small overlap of the minimap and the quest frame.  This is really hacky, but at least gives it room:

    lines 1077,1078 (Adding 20 to the size tricks the ui into thinking the map is bigger, thus moving the quest frame down)

    MinimapCluster:SetWidth(self.CurrentProfile.MinimapSize+20)
    MinimapCluster:SetHeight(self.CurrentProfile.MinimapSize+20)

    Quick fix I found (for the adventurous):

    add this before line 1222 in mappy.lua
         if pFrame:IsForbidden() then
              return false
         end

    Change line 29 to:
         --"WatchFrame",

    Change line 321 to:
         --self:FixWatchFramePosition()

    Looks like blizzard made the watch frame unmovable (quest tracker) and make certain buttons protected.  Seems to be working for me at least with these changes, YMMV.

    Awesome fixes wtfwhy, I tried SexyMap for a while when Mappy caused errors, but I missed the auto-sorting of minimap buttons too much so I started looking at the code. Now I don't have to figure it out myself =)

    Pls update for 6.0, some things doesn´t work :(  for example the form of the minimap, move it etc

    Larger area possible?

    I see that you can scale the minimap image, but can you make the minimap show more area? Say, have it zoom out to show all of Westfall, for example.

    Just wanted to give a heads up to people using this addon and who might be experiencing the same problem I had. I recently installed it, from the curse client. And it freezes WoW + the PC after character log in.
    So bad that I couldn't even exit the game, or use ctrl-alt-del. It's 20x worse under WoW 64bit version. 32 bit just brings up an abnormal looking windows error message window. I couldn't tell  you the details on it because there are none.

    flashing nodes

    hi, 

    quick question i se mappy with the flashing nodes enabled, but the issue is that anytime i log in to any character EVERYTHING flashes until i disable and reenable the option for the flashing nodes. is there a fix for this?

    I agree, I'd love to just have the herb/ore flash!
