About Mapster

Mapster is a very simple world map enhacement addon, which was designed to work in conjunction with all other map addons out there. The idea to create Mapster originated from pure lack of a simplistic addon that only modifies the world map, without adding a full scale feature set.

Features

  • Map Style (Scale & Alpha)
  • Coordinates
  • Fog of War removal
  • Enhancement of the raid/party group icons
  • Access to the Instance Maps from anywhere!

You can access the Mapster configuration menu through the new button on the world map, as shown in the screenshot. All features (except the style) can be turned off individually if you do not need/want them.

I've been having problems with the 'Fogclear' options. No matter what I set it to, it doesn't show the 'unexplored territory'. It always shows the entire world map. I wanna put the fog 'ON' so I know what I haven't explored yet.
    Any Ideas?
  • #757
Do you have any other addons installed that might do the fog-clear-thing? I had the exact same problem but found out that my Zygor Guides did the same thing.
  • #759
thank you! it was zygor's that kept the fog from showing, as i had the same problem.
    thumbs up :D
  • #750
whey i try to set a waypoint arrow on my map it show up ok on the map, but when i minimize the map the arrow is always pointing to my feet and it says "unknown waypoint 0 yards"
  • #749
When i quest Mapster is always in the foreground of quest givers textfield. How can get mapster to go in background ?
  • #748
like to repost this as it really needs fixed...

    Quote:
Please put an option in so that the world map doesn't autozoom when changing zones/sub zones. This feature is absolutely annoying. When flying around you can't view what you want to view on the map.

Say you are flying across Eastern Kingdoms and you have no reason to be in the zone you are in except to fly through it, you are trying to put your character in the direction of say a DIG site or a Town you want to go to or a question objective, the auto zoom makes this extremely annoying.

I really hope you have implement this. TY, and your addon is great. I can see people complaining about the autozoom all over the internet but I can not find a solution!
    End Quote/

To fix a lot of Mapster's shortcomings I reused a lot of the old Cartographer snippets. Seems funny how a old Add-On can still be useful to a new one =). One of which was fixing Mapster's horrid "Ok we are in a new zone. I don't care what you are looking at. Changing map to zone I am in now." Plus I found numerous shortcomings that by using old Cartographer code also fixed. Though what I did was hack it together, then add a band-aid.
  • #756
yeah this would be greatly appreciated if you could tell me what line of code you replaced with what from the cartographer code, ive never really messed around with code but im tech savy enough i think i could figure it out if you gave me the bits of code
  • #753
Can you tell us how to stop Mapster from doing this please?
  • #747
One thing I miss about Cartographer is being able to ctrl+right click on a place on the map such as dalaran, and it will set a waypoint for you to fly there. Is there anyway to do this with Mapster + TomTom?
  • #746
Turn off the panel, set it to "Only WorldMap Blobs" and it will fix the archaeology hot zone display. That had me so annoyed.

Any idea if the author is still working on this map mod?
  • #745
the archaeology hot zone display is shifted when i loot a mob :(

To me it seems that the archaeology hot zone display is shifted when the quest tracker pane is up ... try ticking the quest tracking pane of and the map should resize to show you where the archaeology spot is. I would guess that the archaeology overlay doesn't scale when the map does.
  • #741
If you use this mod and can't figure out why your map is totally revealed (i.e. FogClear doesn't seem to be working) you probably have Zygor's levelling guides installed.

To restore Mapster's FogClear, you need to open Zygor options, go to the Waypoints section and there's a checkbox at the bottom called "Reveal Map". Uncheck it.

Hope this helps someone. Took me ages to figure out!
