MarkingBar is an addon to help players use raid markers in parties and raids. It is designed to be simple and easy to use, while offering a wide variety of options without taking up a lot of memory. This addon is based on the once-popular but now-discontinued Hatty's Mark Bar, with features added from many other popular marking addons.
Features:
- Quickly mark and unmark the current target by clicking the symbol you want to assign or remove.
- Perform a party or raid ReadyCheck.
- Announce your current marking system to party or raid chat. These messages can be customized through the gear icon or /mb options.
- While in a party or raid, place the raid flare/world markers. Note: This cannot be done in combat, and the flares frame will automatically hide when you enter combat.
- Each frame can be moved anywhere on screen and locked in place.
- Frames can have the icon order reversed or be stacked vertically.
- Frames can have the border and background completely hidden.
- Tooltips can be turned on and off.
- Tooltips can be turned on or off for announcement messages.
- Show the frames all the time, or only while you have a target.
- Show the frames while alone, in a party, or in a raid group.
Slash Commands

- /mb options Also brings up the options window
- /mb reset Resets MarkingBar to the default values and positions

- Fixed an issues that was causing the "Clear All Icons" feature to crash when clicked repeatedly. Clicking this icon repeatedly is probably still not a great idea, but will no longer cause any game-crashing world-breaking issues. =)

- The options interface has been integrated into the default Blizzard UI. You can still access the options from /mb or from the gear icon, but you can now also access the options by pressing Esc to bring up the Game Menu>Interface>Addons>MarkingBar.
- More room to edit announcement text
- New announcement line to add at the end of the marks
- New announcement option to add a raid warning message when announcing in a raid
- New option to add announcement messages to the icon's tooltips. This is especially useful if you can never remember what text you set up and what those pesky icons mean. =)

- The lock icon for the main Raid Icons has moved from the announcement frame to the raid icons frame
- World Marker flares are now always hidden in combat, since the ability to set them is protected by Blizzard and you can't set them while in combat anyway.

I just found your addon, as a raid leader I need the flag so I was SUPER excited to find a raid target making that included the flags and was moveable to work with my current setup (Blizzards frame is Under my Raid so is totaly useless) However when I try to clear a target icon from a character wow freezes, is there anyway in the code to change the clear all button to just a clear button?
I will review the code and see if in my limited experiance with lua I can find something but if you already have a patch to fix it I would love a post about it.

<p>I have no problem marking mobs or players with this add-on, but cannot figure out how to use the flares/world markers. Nothing happens if I click on the little circles for the flares. How do I use them?</p>
They are working for me, Basicly click on the circle and move your mouse over where you want the world flag to be and click there, kind of like using a mage or warlock aoe in that your target it to where you want it. Hope that helps.
I have downloaded this addon into my C:Program Files (x86)>World of Warcraft>Interface>Addons where all my other addons are and when I log on it is not in my addons list nor can I access it in game. It has 3 things in the folder (announce, MarkingBar.Lua, MarkingBar.toc). Is there something I need to do to activate it? What am I missing here? I am sure I have it in the right place as I use several other addons and they are all in the same place and easily accessable in game and before logging on by going to the addons where you can check to load out of date etc and this addon doesn't even show up there. I removed mfclip to veryify that I'm putting the addons in the right place. MFclip disappeared. I reinstalled MFclip and voila it reappeared. SO, something is wrong with this addon as it is not showing up for some reason.
Great addon love it but theres a huge issue with people putting marks on you or other players or npc's if you go to remove them the game locks up and freezes and in a raid this can be deverstating as you have to fully restart the game only does it with the personal markers tho not with world markers and its only when you hit the X on the bar does it crash the game, is this going to be fixed with the new update, as its the only marking addon that actually works with world markers
Just to clarify what you mean: the game locks up clicking the remove marks button?
I'll do what I can to fix this, but there is no easy way to remove all the marks at once. What the addon currently does is add, then remove each individual mark to your current target. This works fine for some people, and crashes the game for others.
I will keep looking for a solution to this problem. In the meantime, the Clear button may be changed to just remove the mark from the CURRENT target.
I will be coming back to WoW in the next few weeks and updating this addon.
I'll read through all the past comments here, but I'll probably be doing a bit of a rewrite of the addon for the newest patch. If you have any specific errors, please post a comment or send me a message with the specific error messages and what other addons you might be using.
I've specifically noted the comments regarding positioning moved to saved variables and crashing when using flares, and I'll look into it. If anyone has any experience with TitanPanel and wants to help me with that, please send me a private message.

It'd be nice to have an update on this...
I'll beg 50 more times if it would help getting the position settings moved to SavedVariables! Or even detection of titanpanel spacing.

For some reason it loads on my Mage and Druid, but when i go on my priest i c an not get marking bar to show for some reason can anyone help!
Is it possible to add an option so youi can choose to have the mark infront of text instead of behind it?
This is specifically part of WoW's UI, and not really something I can do.
