Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Before posting a question, please see the FAQ list at MSBT's portal site. http://mikord.wowinterface.com/portal.php?id=156&a=faq

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:

  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class.
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

This sounds like the additional mastery damage is internally different spell and therefore doesn't get merged as merging will only merge identical spells.  There seem to be more cases of this popping up in general.

Unfortunately, there isn't a programmatic way to tell if one spell (the mastery damage) is actually the result of  another and therefore should be merged with it.  One possible fix might involve manually maintaining a customizable spell equivalency table that will allow users to treat one spell as if it were actually another, but the issue is that some of the mastery damage might have come from VT, another part might have come from SW:P, and yet more might have come from DP.

Anyone know how I can get rid of HIT<glancing>

I just want the number, the <glancing> is distracting to me.

  • #3425

I've discovered a temp fix for anyone who was having my issues.

Delete the Mik-corresponding files within your WTF folder, or the WTF folder itself.   Re-download MSBT.   DON'T choose monochrome font settings until it's fixed.

  • #3424

I just re-downloaded the addon today and it is STILL crashing during combat.

Also interesting to note, is that I have tried to play with the fonts, and I get crashed out of the game as soon as I try to change anything.

I have posted in the linked forum topic, so hopefully Blizzard gets on the ball about fixing this, NOW.

I guess I'll keep using SCT for now and wait until everything is fixed up. I'm a bit depressed by this, as it's my favorite combat text tool.

  • #3423

hey guys that's a perfect addon! works like a charm to i shake the hand of it's creator :D

anyway i made an account here just to ask if there are other sound effects i can get for the addon and how?

  • #3431

Check out MSBT's FAQ.  In partcular, the "How do I add my own custom sounds?" entry.

  • #3422

    Thank you for fix

  • #3418

i am probably blind :) and this can be changed, but have very little problem, ive changed numbers for short versions (aka 5k instead of 5000) but shows still full number for overkills.

  • #3421

It's a bug.  I'll have it fixed in 5.7.120 which I should be releasing later today.

  • #3415

More info on the crash when entering combat, when i go to my options to change the font, if i try to change the outgoing font it also crashes. I cant change that font so im guessing thats the one causing it?

  • #3416

Check out the announcements.  It's the monochrome font flag causing it.

  • #3414

    Hi there,

I was wondering if you're planning to add support for pet battles? I made a mod to hide the game generated xp text, since msbt displays it better. Unfortunately, that has the side effect of disabling all pet battle combat text, so having msbt display those like numbers like in a regular combat would be really useful. Thanks.

  • #3417

I looked into adding them in beta, but unfortunately there do not appear to be any combt log events to hook into.  So, I will have to dig into the UI files and figure out if there are any other events addons have access to.

  • #3413

    Thank you for the upda
