Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.131 fixes the font changing issue introduced by Patch 5.4.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Before posting a question, please see the FAQ list at MSBT's portal site. http://mikord.wowinterface.com/portal.php?id=156&a=faq

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:

  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class.
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

It's only based on names currently. It wouldn't be too difficult to modify the suppression though. You can do it manually if you like:

A quick and dirty way to do it would be to open MSBTMain.lua and find line 1003:

-- Ignore the event if there is a skill name and it's suppressed.
if (effectName and currentProfile.abilitySuppressions[effectName]) then return end

    and add right after it:

    local skillID = parserEvent.skillID
if (skillID and currentProfile.abilitySuppressions[skillID]) then return end

I've set up a trigger to display whenever Mortal Strike comes off cooldown. I used a basic layout [Player Cooldown Complete = Mortal Strike]. Alternatively I've tried the Skill ID 12294, but it still will not display. The same setup works fine for other abilities like Shield Slam but Mortal Strike seems to be glitched.
  • #3195
I believe the default cooldown threshold is 5 seconds and MS is likely under that (4.5 if memory serves). You can lower that in the options under the Cooldowns tab.

    Hello, Mikord

I have been postponing this question, since I did not want to bother you, but my OCD for a perfect UI is taking over.
Is there any chance you can add in (or give me the line of script & where to put it), the weapon icon for normal melee swings, on the outgoing damage?
When I have every thing perfectly aligned on the right, the normal melee swings are always out of place, compared to the other spell abilities.

In advance, thank you very much for the supporting & creation of such a great addon.
  • #3199
I don't think I want to add that as I prefer the distinction of icons on abilities and none on melee swings as it allows me to more easily pick out the skills. However, a quick and dirty way to allow your main hand weapon icon to show up for melee damage would be:

    Modify MSBTMain.lua line 1038 from:
    if (skillID) then _, _, effectTexture = GetSpellInfo(skillID) end
    to:
    if (skillID) then _, _, effectTexture = GetSpellInfo(skillID) else effectTexture = GetInventoryItemTexture("player", INVSLOT_MAINHAND) end

Sometimes during a fight, MSBT will start recording everything twice for me. IE it'll show my Lava Lash critting for "111k (2 hits)" when in reality it only did half of that for 1 hit. Everything it's logging will become doubled.. heals, damage, etc.

I wouldn't actually care, but 100% of the time this happens I invariably disconnect from the game within a few minutes. This can be quite annoying during boss fights as it forces me to disable MSBT for the duration of the fight.

Anyone know what causes this, or have a solution? My MSBT is up to date.
  • #3198
I have actually seen this twice, but in both cases, the events were actually reported twice in the combat log. It seems to be a combat log bug that crops up every now and again. I reloaded the UI when it happened and it went away. MSBT is just reporting what the combat log does, so it tends to be pretty good for noticing combat log bugs (and older combat log bug where it would just stop reporting was really quite apparent).
  • #3188
how do I remove deep wounds from showing up in my outgoing damage?
  • #3189
nevermind it was opportunity strike who had the same icon as deep wounds.
  • #3187
possible to allow a 'event trigger' to also equally notify you when the trigger has ended? that would be similar to the notification for debuff dropping off but for my purposes i could use something a little more in my face for certain buffs falling off, like Volcano or Fallen Crusader.
  • #3197
There is an "Aura Removal" trigger event that you can use for this purpose.
  • #3186
Frost Mage, Water Elemental Pet. I tried to deselect all the boxes for Ingoing and Outgoing pet data, but I still get everything flowing on-screen concerning the damage my pet does and receives. How can I filter it out?
  • #3194
Issue solved! I'm a total dumb. It wasn't Water Elemental's waterbolt, but my own's Permafrost, a buff that heals the Water Elemental. I just added "Permafrost" to the filter list and everything works the way I wanted it to :)
  • #3185
last week I started noticing a significant drop in frame-rate whenever I use shadowfiend. I disabled msbt and the issue goes away. Was unaware if this was a known issue or if anyone else has noticed this issue. Currently I'm running without msbt and it makes me a sad panda.
  • #3196
I haven't noticed any issues with this myself when using shadowfiend. Anyone else seeing this?
