Before posting a question, please see the FAQ list at MSBT's portal site. http://mikord.wowinterface.com/portal.php?id=156&a=faq

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:

  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class.
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

I would prefer this over SCT, but find myself going back because MSBT doesn't seem to have an option to let damage numbers appear above player/enemy head. This rainbow scrolling is way too catchy. Please let me know if I missed that option somehow.

  • #147

Been using SCT for so long.. should have found this addon faster. :) Keep it up!

  • #146

    Bootvi:

There isn't currently a way to do that. The two hits happen simultaneously, so they are compressed. I might be able to work a blacklist type of functionality into a future version to specifically exclude it.

  • #145

Hey Mik! This addon rocks, I switched to it from SCT and I love it.

I have one issue which abit annoying me. I'm a Rogue, with mutilate. As you know Mutilate does 2 instant hits, which usually at least one of them crits. The thing bothering me, because of how your addon compress the messeges, is when 1 or 2 crits happen, it still looks like a normal damage (non crit). Is there a way to make the Mutilate crits show like a real crit? Even if its one crit out of two.

    Cheers, Bootvi

    Arkmon:

Do you have version 4.02? There was a slight problem with the parsing order in the previous 4.0/4.01 versions. The person who did the French localization also plays a Paladin, so I'm pretty sure that it works correctly under French as of version 4.02.

If you already have version 4.02, then it must be another addon causing the problem. Try disabling other addons until you find the problem.

  • #142

For info, i'm playing in french version ^^

  • #143

    Hi Mikk !

First, thanks for this great addon.

But, I Have one bug with it.

I'm playing a Paly and i haven't got my Holy damage on the scroll text -_-' not really good to see paly's damage ...

Is this a bug or not ?

If not, some way to have holy damage to be displayed ?

    thx for help ;)

  • #141

    works great Mikk! thx

    Rakem:

Actually you can use substitution codes in triggers, but it's a little more advanced since the search pattern is a custom lua string. Because you are entering a custom search string there is no way for MSBT to know what is what to appropriately fill %n and all that, so it's up to you to capture what you want and use it appropriately. The readme covers it, but, in short, you can use %1 through %9 in a trigger's output message for capture substitutions.

So to use Polymorph as an example:

The combat log messages for the various polymorphs are: You cast Polymorph on Mob. You cast Polymorph: Pig on Mob. You cast Polymorph: Turtle on Mob.

So you can set the trigger search pattern to both match the strings and capture the name of the mob like so: You cast Polymorph.* on (.+)

Then for the output message: Polymorph %1!

  • #139

one thing: i just added some custom triggers for succesfull polymorph and some others but i cant use %n in the triggers like in the events. would be nice if you can code this!

  • #138

    Imadrowningfish:

I answered you in your PM, but it would be:

    21 %(Fireball%)

    Guynamedx:

If there is an associated combat log message for those procs (which there should be), then yes you can do that. You would need to create a trigger for each proc and assign the trigger to the new scroll area you created. The easiest way is to go hit on something and watch the combat log until you see the message for the proc you are looking for and pick out a somewhat unique word from the message. Once you know that you can find the event type with the /msbt search uniqueword command (like in the video). MSBT will give you an event type that you can then use to create the trigger.

Hello Mikk, I have to say this is an AMAZING AddOn that really helps me, thanks!

I have a question though. Both my weapons have a 'chance to hit' one causes frost damage and other shadow damage. I wanted to ask if there's anyway I could make a new scroll that will include only those 2 events (and tell me when the happen)? I know how to make new scroll but I don't know to create those 2 new events and put them in the new scroll.

Hope you'll understand my English, thanksa lot! (By the way I did watch the example movie but I couldn't find answer there)

Yes you can still turn off over healing. Click the "Partial Effects" button then uncheck "Overheals."
