About Minimap Button Frame

This little addon will gather up all of your addon minimap buttons and put them into a movable frame.


- Add or Remove almost any minimap button
- Option to display round or square minimap buttons

Notes: TO ADD OR REMOVE A BUTTON YOU CAN EITHER HAVE THE MOUSE CURSOR OVER THE BUTTON TO BE REMOVED WHEN YOU EXECUTE /MBF ADD OR /MBF REMOVE OR YOU CAN NOW TYPE IN THE NAME OF THE BUTTON. /MBF ADD [ButtonName] OR /MBF REMOVE [buttonName] The ability to add minimap icons to the table can be a general or partial name of the icons. The button override table add should be the exact name of the button that you want to override and collect.

    I'm having the same issue as Jedasa. Can't move the anchor out of the top right corner.

    Ever since the new update I can not move the MBF anchor it is suck in the top right corner :(

    I've checked the addon out and everything seems to be working properly.  I suspect there is another addon that is conflicting.  Seems someone decided to use MBF as the name for their addon as well.  I've gone though and changed it in the code now so it won't conflict.  I also noticed that it was setup as a global and not local for some reason.  Think it got deleted by accident at some point.  I'll upload a new version as soon as I can access the project site on here again.

    Really hope to see an update on this mod ASAP.  If the original owner can no longer work upon it, I hope that s/he releases it with an open source license to allow others to pick it up!

    used to love this addon and still do but have an issue with it all my buttons are in the frame as it should be but they are all over the place inside it in a mess and some of the buttons are large others small and others tiny. i have tried doing a reinstall of it no good have deleted my cache and my cache in the data folder and removing the lua and back up in the WTF one yet still the same any ideas on how to get it back like the picture he shows us when we download it for the first time ?


    Edit: never mind seems a conflict between this and chinchilla map addon is casuing this problem one for the guy to look in to i guess keeping this one than chinchilla map

    Add-on doesnt collect the mini map buttons

    iv tryed removing all the mini map buttons and re adding them but the just go where they please.......evn in the middle of my mini map

    I love this addon, but where i currently have it positioned overlaps with the pet battles addon. Any chance you could add an option to hide during pet battles?

    When I accidentally clicked on the MBF button, it made the entire frame vanish!  No matter what I try, I cannot get it to reappear.  When I type:  /mbf show, Blizz's interface/addon opens with MarkingBar open.  Anything I type following /mbf opens the options through Blizz for MarkingBar!

    having this problem myself the button is there however its graphic has vanished adn you can no longer click it,Ive tried everything from reinstalling to messing round with its options etc and nothing has fixed it as of yet

    try "/mbf options", if that doesnt work then just browse to the minimpa button frames section of the interface/addons list.  If it's not listed then that would explain why youre not seeing anything.  Once you get to the options, go to profile and the click the big red button to reset your profile to defaults.

    If that doesn't work then diable Marking Bar at least temporarily to see if you can resolve the problem.  I'm looking at the code for both addons now and it appears that minimap button frames creates this GLOBAL variable:

    MBF = LibStub("AceAddon-3.0"):NewAddon("Minimap Button Frame", "AceConsole-3.0", "AceEvent-3.0", "AceTimer-3.0")

    And Marking Bar creates this local variable:

    local MBF = "|cffe1a500MB|cff69ccf0Flares|cffffffff"   -- MBFlares Title

    So it's quite likely that there is a conflict.  I would think that a global variable..if it must be used..should be more than three characters...just to lower the chances of another addon trying to use the same variable.  Here's a small tidbit from wowwiki on the subject of global variables:

    Addons in World of Warcraft share a single execution environment. As a result, all Addons have access to the same global variables. If one Addon creates a global variable named "foo", then all other addons can use (or overwrite) that same variable. This allows for some really useful things to happen; the most frequently used tactic that takes advantage of this feature is hooking. Unfortunately, this can also cause some problems in addons. They will conflict if more than one Addon tries to use the same name for a variable. As a result, Addon authors must ensure that their Addons don't conflict by doing one (or more) of the following:

    1. Using assuredly-unique names for variables, such as MyAddon_MyFrame_OnLoad
    2. Making their addons object-oriented
    3. Using variable scope to the author's advantage.



    Not knowing at all what would happen, I added "local" before the global variable MBF in the MBF addon and started wow up.  Everything seems to be working as usual with no LUA errors.  I can't claim to know why the author made it a global or if making it a local is ok...but the house didn't burn down or anything.  I thought this might be ok after looking at the Ace3 API examples that show this example:

    local MyAddon = LibStub("AceAddon-3.0"):NewAddon("MyAddon")

    I just made another custom skin for MBF, this timeof the square variety, and it's become very apparent that the tracker button is about 1px up and to the left of where it should be in relation to other buttons.  The square border of the skin makes it very easy to spot.  At one point I had sexymap, and also a sexymap tracker button fix..but I've since abandoned that addon entirely in favor of chinchilla.  Anyway, to my knowledge I don't have any other addon that should affect the button position other than perhaps moveanything..but I haven't used moveanything on that button in question before.

     Does anyone else have this problem?

     Update: I tried using MoveAnything to try to reset the button position but it remained a bit off.  So I used MoveAnything to bump it over and down a notch and it seems to half arsed resolve the symptom.  The button stays anchored to the mbf frame if i happen to move it, and i assume as buttons are added and removed itll stay positioned properly.  I'm still curious to know if this is a known issue.
