About Mistra's Diablo Orbs

Mistra's Diablo Orbs

Mistra's Diablo Orbs provides the user with a clean, aesthetically pleasing, and functional center piece for monitoring player health and mana. The orbs are fully fleshed-out, with smooth animated fillings, and multiple textures.

This addon provides the following:

  • Health and Mana Orbs - each with full custom user colorization and several textures to choose from.
  • A Pet Orb - one compact unit to monitor pet health/mana, aesthetically matching the health and mana orbs.
  • Power tracking - Monks, Shadow Priests, Paladins, Warlocks, Rogues, and Feral druids will have a power tracking frame that will animate whenever their resource is capped. (Holy Power, the various forms of Soul Shards, combo points, etc)
  • Plethora of options - Users are able to pick their own colors and formatting whenever they want via a new, easy-to-use GUI.
  • No third party libraries - This addon is usable from the get-go, out of the box, and looks good without requiring heavy configuration.
  • Accessible author - I'm the same guy who made the oUF_D3Orbs_Lightweight addon, and I'm always available for thoughts on improvements, additions, and bug reports.

Thank you for using Mistra's Diablo Orbs!

Q & A

  • Q: How do I change my orb colors?
    • A: There are a couple of ways for you to access the orb menu. You can type /mdo in the chat window and press Enter, or you can click on the Minimap Button.
  • Q: How do I move things around?
    • A: Simply hold shift, and click and drag any orb or frame around. You can move things to your heart's content!
  • Q: Can I disable the Pet Orb, or any other element of the orbs?
    • A: Yes, of course. The only elements you cannot disable are the Health and Mana orbs. Every additional frame is a user choice, and is up to you to use!
  • Q: My health dropdown is acting funny, I can't seem to find the "Combat" option. What gives?
    • A: Dropdowns are a tad finicky in WoW. While I look into this issue, you can get around it by simply selecting the "Mana Orb" option, and then re-selecting "Health Orb." It'll show up!

If you have any questions, bug reports, or feedback, please don't hesitate to let me know! I can be reached here on Curse, on the forums, or on the project site. Please don't be afraid to ask me a question or give me a suggestion. I will try and stay as accessible as possible.

Awesome to see someone keeping the D3 orbs alive, but I was wondering if there was any chance of the class colors on target frames and the mouse tooltip coming back, like what the original D3 orbs addon had?

  • #43

I've got a problem: my main ist a moonkin and everytime I start this addon, it removes my eclipse bar :/ is there a way to get it back while using this addon?

  • #40

    Is Background at my UI

  • #42

Can you elaborate?  I am not too sure what you mean, sorry.

  • #39

great addon bro real nice....is there a way you can add orbs for target and, tot in next update???

  • #41

I appreciate the idea - but honestly, probably not.  The idea here is to have a unique HUD for your character - adding orbs everywhere for other elements may not, in the end, be aesthetically pleasing.

Not sure if I should mention this here or on SexyMap, but here goes.

I use SexyMap, as if my statement above wasn't obvious enough. Noticed that yor orbs have a minimap button, which is fine. I can't seem to have it hide or even be removed, like I can with other addon buttons in either their own settings or through SexyMap (has options to never show, always show, or only show with mouse over).

Again, just pointing it out. I can live with it being shown at all times. :)

I noticed this last night as well.  Interestingly, the version of SexyMap I tested with before SexyMap had its most recent update worked just fine with my minimap button.  But you are correct, now it shows up constantly.  It also still only moves in a circular pattern when the map becomes a square.  I'll be getting with the author of SexyMap soon to try and correct the issue.

In fact, the screenshot I took with the Warlock up there was taken before the latest SexyMap update hit - and you'll notice the button is hidden.

Edit: After looking around on SexyMap's comment areas, many others are having trouble with certain minimap buttons no longer hiding.  He'll probably fix it soon!

Edit #2: I've submit a patch request to the author of SexyMap to add a line of code that should fix the problem.

I really love this addon, great job! It's a lot of fun to use this instead of the boring old health and mana bars that blizzard has.

What are the chances you could add a way to just use a single orb for the player just like the pet has (so one big orb that is split down the middle with health on the left and mana/power on the right)?

  • #36

That could definitely be an option, but I will be honest, I did not set up the infrastructure to do that easily.  It would take a little time.

The new app looks really clean and functional.  I'd love to see the alternate powers to be built into the mana bar like the new awesome pet bar is.  Especially with how many there are now.

Druid Mana/Eclipse, each Lock spec, Holy Power, Combo points.
Actually it may be kinda big but even some procs can be considered resources in this xpac and a big glowing draining orb would really bring some much needed art to this game. Molten Core procs/thrill of the hunt/monk tanks watching the blackout buff.  Sure other addons can create some bars to watch it but none more fancy.  Thanks again for the update.

All good ideas!  Frankly I feel the UI, while functional and generally clean, really can improve greatly.  The better the UI template, the more options I can offer.  So, as I work on that, many new things can and probably will pop up.  I'm hoping to offer adding an orb for resource tracking as an option to the current square frame of the Power Tracker.  Choices!  Everyone likes them.

Hello, congratulations great addon was looking for it for a long time but if you will allow me you forgotten by a local to adapt holy power in case of Paladin, feral druid could in the case of the split with energy orb also as done in mana orb of pets, and especially the pvp flag that flag the account 5 minutes remaining after you exit a bg also did not havegood luck and thanks

Would love to see the power tracking be an orb as well. Be even better if it were customiable, like the health/mana orbs are.

No other suggests for this right now... I love it as is, aside from the power tracking.

  • #31

That's a really great idea.  I will implement this hopefully soon.
