I have been using monkeyquest for a long time along with monkeybuddy. Love the addon and am lost without it. But I am suddenly struck with a strange issue.

I did a race change a few days ago and my framerates plummeted. I could not get above 14 fps. I reinstalled wow and all my addons and problem was still there. So I took all addons out and put them in one at a time to see which one caused the issue. Unfortunetly it was monkeyquest and monkeybuddy.

Why would this occur with a race change and is there anything I can do to fix it?

    Thanks for the help.

not a bad addon but jim-bim you are lucky that i am smarter than the average dum fauk when it comes to xml and lua script. i just have to understand why monkeyquestlog wouldnt have adjustable strata or frame level within the monketybuddy config? i know you know how to do that but if i can help ya hit me up! other than that rocking add. Im just wondering if there is anyway to link it to sexy maps so that the quext appears on the via icon or quest area and links back to monkeyquest and log? lets do it brava! Thanks for your hard work. i hope my comment only makes it better from here out.

MonkeyQuestLog never got out of beta, thats why there are no options for it. There is a work in progress  v3 of MonkeyQuest (like MonkeySpeed and MonkeyClock, which are already released), so I haven't put much work into the v2 branch anymore. Only bug fixes and some v3 feature backports, but those happened a year ago, since then only TOC changes so MonkeyQuest won't show out of date. If you have the time to add MonkeyQuestLog options to MonkeyBuddy, feel free to do so. Once you send me the changes I will integrate them into a new release. There is no ETA on v3, just be patient ;)

Just a comment for those experiencing FPS problems. I have also seen this in the past, but for me it seemed to only happen when there was a usable quest item (so monkey quest would show the item icon next to the quest) and if I was using the games Achievement tracking UI to track my progress on some achievement (like quests done in a zone).  I don't think I've seen the problem in a while, but then I've also developed the habit of keeping the achievements I'm tracking collapsed/hidden most of the time.  Anyway, if you hit the FPS problem and you have achievements up, try hiding them while finishing that quest and see if it helps.

I was wondering if there is a setting for the tracking arrow that appears in the minimap with the standard blizzard quest tracker? It was appearing when I opened the map and manually selected which quest i wanted to track, but it would disappear as soon as I closed the map. Now it's not showing at all. I want to be able to track which direction my quests are in without having to open my map all the time (as I usually end up walking into a group of mobs)

So, back in May I posted about this add on dramatically dropping my FPS when I have it active/installed.

I've tried everything posted above, resetting UI (deleting WTF, Cache, Interface) folders as well as running repair utility and reinstalling my WoW, so it's nothing on that end. I've tried running with no addons installed other than MonkeyQuest and the problem persisted. When I couldn't get rid of the problem I dropped MonkeyQuest entirely hoping for an update that would fix this.

I have spent the last 5 months with absolutely zero WoW issues, or issues with my FPS dropping. I installed MonkeyQuest again today and the issue happened immediately, I drop from 60 FPS (capped with vert Sync) to between 3fps - 15fps. Not sure if this information is helpful or what's causing this, but I hate not being able to use this addon. :(

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help get this fixed/resolved.

Are you using other mods?  If you are have you disabled ALL of them and only enabled MQ and see if the problem still exists?  I have been using MQ since day 1 without that ever happening however I have had it happen with certain combination of mods enabled.

Yeah, as GRiMoku said, it would indeed be very nice with a way to save profiles. =)

I regularly use four characters. On three of them, the mod works perfectly. On one toon, a Deathknight, the "More work" voice goes off when I do just about anything. Hit escape key, open a menu, everything. It's extraordinarily annoying as I've not done anything different on that toon than any other. It stops if I turn off the 'work complete' option, but I want those sounds -*when appropriate*-. Help?

Ok I'm an idiot. I hid my Monkeyquest and can't get it to show again, whats the command to do so?

  • #1026
The slash command is "/mquest open".

    Feature Request:

Add in Achievement tracking to the interface, like the in-game one. I love this mod because of the sound effects, and customization, and would really like to have my achievements that I'm actively tracking be in the same interface.
  • #1016
Please please PLEASE update this mod. =)

It's one of my favorites as I've been using it for years... but recently have been having a bunch of FPS issues where my FPS will just randomly drop to about 2 or 3 when I normally run at 120... making it very unplayable. Was able to come to the conclusion that MonkeyQuest was causing the problem. Most likely because it's so out of date and so much has changed since Cataclysm.

    Please consider, thanks! :)

Like ilesh_224 below, I also had problems with MonkeyQuest causing a horrible FPS drop. This happened mainly in the Molten Front zone for me. I know it was MonkeyQuest, as I disabled all other addons and eventually found MQ to be the culprit. I stopped using it, but really miss it, as I never found a good alternative. Is there any more news on this problem, or is it simply a matter of "it only happens to a handful of people, thus it can't be a real issue"?
