About MountQ

A broker addon that will allow you to create a list of favorite mounts and easily summon them.

Right clicking opens a window listing all known mounts and allows configuration (may also use /mq command). You can select which mounts should show on your favorites list. A menu will open when hovering over the broker, listing your favorite mounts. Clicking one will summon it. Left clicking the broker will summon a random mount from your favorites list. Shift clicking will dismount, control clicking will summon your marked favorite mount. Keybinds are available for all these actions.

A minimap button is created in case no broker is available, which can be toggled off in options.

When viewing the mount list, you can sort alphabetically or by category. Sorting by mount types will list various categories, and subcategories under those. Subcategories will only show if you have at least 3 mounts in that selection. The same mount can show up under multiple selections. Example, the Headless Horseman is both Seasonal and found under Horses.

Ground mounts and flying mounts are toggled separately, and which mounts show in your MountQ list will depend on whether you're in a flying zone with the correct skill, in a ground only zone, etc. The single keybind will mount the appropriate mount depending on your location. Underwater is supported too, including the seahorse and turtle mounts.

Druid and Worgen forms are also supported, you may add Flight Form or Swift Flight Form to your flying list and Running Wild to your ground list if available. Some intelligence has been added so that if you're a druid and free falling in the air, push your mount hotkey and Flight Form will be picked regardless of how many mounts are on the list, saving you from a long fall!

1.14: Minor bug fix for lost mounts in 6.1 (Zhevra and Argent Charger were lost on all accounts by Blizzard).

1.13: Patch 6.1 fixes

1.12: Another fix for the lost mount issue.

1.11: Bug fixes. Added Nagrand garrison mount support. Quick fix for druid flight form changes.

1.9: 6.0 Support. All mounts categorized. Aqua Strider is always used when on top of water.

1.8: Added 5.4 mounts + bug fixes.

1.7: 5.2 support + bug fixes.

1.6: 5.1 support. Bug fixes.

1.5: Added MoP mounts. Added better detection on guessing categories for new mounts if not known.

1.4: Really fixed the cross realm mount issue. Ground and Flying mounts are now separate lists. Example, you can have your Heart of Aspects under flying but turn it off for ground. New flying / ground detection, much more accurate.

1.3: Discovered that with cross zone sharing, some areas sort the mount list by order learned while others sort it alphabetically. Fixed a bug calling the wrong mount when this occurs.

1.2: 5.0.4 fixes Updated mounts

1.1: Added new pvp mounts. TOC and ace lib updates. Added option to show list only when a key modifier is pressed. Minor bug fixes.

    The addon will only summon ground mounts in Draenor, even though I have Draenor Pathfinder

  • #16

    Ok, I fixed it.  Here is what you need to change to allow flying in Draenor.  The lines in bold are new/changed, and it starts somewhere around line 510

    function MountQ:CanFlyNow()
        local continent = GetCurrentMapContinent()
        local expertRiding = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(34090));
        local artisanRiding = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(34091));
        local masterRiding = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(90265));
        local CWF = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(54197));
        local mflying = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(90267));
        local pandaFlying = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(115913));
        local DraenorPathfinder = IsUsableSpell(GetSpellInfo(191645));

        if continent == 3 then -- Outlands
            if (expertRiding or artisanRiding or masterRiding) and

    IsFlyableArea() then
                return true
                return false
        elseif continent == 4 then -- Northrend
            if IsFlyableArea() then
                local zone = GetZoneText() -- Check the zone
                if not CWF then
                    return false;
                local _, _, isActive = GetWorldPVPAreaInfo(1)
                if zone == "Wintergrasp" and isActive == true

                    return false;
                    return true;
                return false
        elseif continent == 6 then -- if we're in Pandaria
            if IsFlyableArea() and pandaFlying then
                return true;
                return false;
        elseif continent == 7 or continent == -1 then -- New Outlands
            if IsFlyableArea() and DraenorPathfinder then
                return true;
                return false;
        else -- Azeroth
            if IsFlyableArea() and mflying then
                return true;
                return false;

    The current version simply assumes false for Draenor at all times.  This one assumes true if you have the passive "Draenor Pathfinder"

    Thanks for the EXCELLENT FIX, eidhel. Works perfectly!

    The addon has suddenly begun to lose track of the mounts. I'll be going along just fine, not zoning or anything and suddenly get nothing when I hit the mount hotkey. Checking the addon, the list does sow as blank, no mounts listed at all.

    Will this be updated soon?

  • #13

    For some reason I haven't been able to sort out, it summons flying mounts while I'm in Vash'jir. Because of this, though I can put it on the dropdown for ground mounts, I also can't (or don't know how) to get it on my dropdown while there. (Though I'd prefer if the hotkey just summoned it.)

    Ideas as to what I might be doing wrong, as it seems to work fine for others?

    Not working in 6.0.2

  • #12

    I'll have a new version in a few days. The new mount journal caused a full rewrite of the code, and the flags for ground/flying mounts were no longer being returned last time I checked the beta.

    First of all, thanks for MountQ, hands down best LDB-supporting mount addon.

    Posted a ticket with a couple of ideas on somewhat enhancing it!

    My Green Wind Rider was being listed as a ground mount. I looked it up and the Red Hawkstrider in the LUA and found that the Green Wind Rider is listed as Ground and the Red Hawkstrider is listed as Flying. You should be able to open the LUA in notepad and change GROUND to FLYING where appropriate, save the LUA and reload. My Green is now listed properly as flying.

    Hope that helps everybody who is having this issue.

    wanted to let you know that on some of my toons red hawkstrider is listed as a flying mount.

    As I said below I really like this mod. However today I noticed that the Flameward Hippogryph is not being recognized as a mount at all. Can you please look into this? Thanks!

    So I'm in Orgrimmar and tried to summon a random mount, which should be a flying mount, and ended up with a Red Hawkstrider. I got a hawkstrider (not sure which) another time when I was expecting a flying mount. Could you look into that please? Thanks!

    Also, looks like there's no check for the AQ-only mounts. Adding that would be wonderful! :)

    I am looking for a way to call a random mount from defined favorites with action bar button. Is there a command to use to make a macro, or any other way to achieve this?
  • #2
    Could we get the modifier for showing the map list that you have on the companion add-on? Thanks! :)
