Sorry, that's not correct. I never checked my UI between loading up Curse for the first time and adding the the three addons, so I don't know for sure if the catalyst was downloading Curse, or actually linking the addons to my account.

  • #57

No, With the exception of my account on the WoW server, and my account with Curse, there was nothing that was leftover from my old computer. I didn't transfer any files, nothing. When I first booted up the client server, I had no addons linked to my account. When I first downloaded Curse, I had no addons linked with my account. I was starting with a clean slate. At that time There was no Holy Power showing on my UI. It was after I loaded Bartender, Recount and Auction Lite that it showed up.

That is correct my friend. Sitting in the middle of my Pally interface. I haven't played in a month or so, and I had to come back to curse to remember the name of the addon. It was not even in my listed addons on my interface menu. I did end up reinstalling it, as I use it anyway. But, it had never been installed on my new computer.

you did re-use any of the old files from previous installation? wtf? addons?

meaning you see the bar even if you never installed this addon?

  • #53

I just bought a new computer. I had to (obviously) reinstall the game client, reinstall curse client, reinstall my addons, which I installed Recount, Auctionlite, and Bartender; and holypower is on my screen.

first of all, again really sorry for this.

this addon has 40k+ downloads and about 10 ppl complaining that they cant remove it.
this is strange. i really dunno what is happening.

i sent a PM to ALL the people below that experienced this, with apologies and some hints on what to try in order to get rid of this crap.
NONE of them answered me. which is, again, strange.

i am using it since release and never experienced this thing. afaik there is no way to leave a bar in middle of screen after the addon folder is gone.

anyway. the addon have limited access to wow folder structure. it can save only into this file:
    World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\<name>\SavedVariables\MovableHolyPower.lua
and nothing in this file is loaded if the addon is gone.
You can delete this file too, but it is not even considered by the game if the addon is not running.

if you remove this file and the entire movableholypower folder there should be no trace left (all this without wow running).

As i read you already did all this, please check if the folder is still there AFTER you launch wow again.
    so:
    exit wow (totaly, launcher too)
delete addons\movableholypower folder (double check its gone)
launch wow & load your cool paladin
check if addon folder is there again

i have no clue about what is happening. it could be another addon conflicting... but again.. if you delete the folder (which contains the graphics too), there is no way on earth you can see the icon on screen after sucessful folder deletion.
the bar you see in middle of screen is not the default wow one, but a custom image that comes with the addon (image folder), and i think its impossible to see it if u erase it from the harddisk.

i just ask you to POST here about what is happening, please. (both if u succeed to zap it OR if u dont)
with zero feedback i got from all the ppl below, it was hard for me to help bout this issue.

if u prefer i can help even with PMs.

    thanks and sorry

you must delete the files when wow is NOT running. be sure you totally exit wow before deleting em.

    hth

    I've done the following:

Deleted it from my computer, while WoW was running, reloaded the game, it's still there.

Reinstalled it, loaded WoW, still there, exited the game, deleted, and reloaded the game, the bar is still there.

Reinstalled, loaded the game, exited the game, delete the files, reloaded the game, the bar is still there.

Reinstalled, loaded the game, bar still there, exited the game, deleted the files, restared my system, loaded the game, bar is still there...

What can I do to get rid of this quite frusterating, annoying, and nonfunctioning addon?

    Thanks,

    AP

be sure you exit wow totally, then delete the folder

Alpha and size always seem to get reset to standard values each time I open the interface menu. It does not keep my settings. Could you please fix that? Great little addon though :)
