About MusicCommander
My attempt at a WoW music player, hopefully mine will turn out better than the others out there ;).
- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q) Why does background music occasionally play along side my music?
A) Blizzard has special points called "Musical Moments" that force special music to play over everything including PlayMusic() which this and all other music addons use. There is no known way to stop it yet...
Q) What should I do if I find a bug or if the playlist maker crashes?
A) Post a comment here with the Error Details (line number, file and error msg in WoW or what windows says when it crashes), Operating System you're on (XP, 2000, Vista?), if you have .NET Framework 2 or better and any steps to reproduced the problem.
Q) I keep getting Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A004C (CTL_E_PATHNOTFOUND) when trying to run the Playlist Maker...
A) This means that the program could not find a folder called Music in the same folder as Playlist Maker. Make sure it exists (case sensitive) and try again.
Q) Playlist Maker crashes as I run it with no error message.
A) This could be because it failed to register the dll before trying to perform commands. Try running the included regsvr.vbs and try again. Also make sure you have .NET Framework 2.0 or better installed! You can get it at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5
Q) The names of Artists/Albums/Songs in MusicCommander are wrong, they should be _____.
A) More likely than not, the ID3 tags were not set properly. I recommend MusicBrainz, it'll gather info on each mp3 and retag it properly to have all the right information.
- OPERATING SYSTEM NOTICE:
Although this mod is capable of running on Linux and Mac, I do not have the means to make a playlistmaker for these operating systems. I have the knowledge of perl to do it in linux if id3lib is installed but I don't have a box to test and dev it on. If anyone from the community would like to make playlistmaker for linux or mac, feel free to get a hold of me for details on the formatting and getting it implemented!
Playlist Maker is developed using Visual Basic .NET 2005 Express and UltraID3Lib.
* Updated for 4.x (removal of all 'this' references, emulated argN functionality, set/getglobal changed to _G)
* Placeholder playlist array(used when user fails to make a playlist) updated with newer format and added new Cataclysm login music (The Shattering v5).

"The problem with API:PlayMusic() not stopping the game music is now on live servers (since 4.0.1)." -SunnĂ½
This has been a bug we have been bitching about for some time now and has made it to live because the devs do not like to fix shit with the sound api ever.
As far as playlist not showing up properly, are the mp3 files in the MusicCommander/Music/ folder and did you generate a playlist with PlaylistMaker.exe?
