About Mute Annoying WoW Sounds
This addon will mute the annoying sounds of WoW.
v2.0 mutes 1202 sounds.
As of version 2.0 I am no longer updating the list below, it has gotten too large. I will keep the list though and may update it later, but for now if you need help finding one of the new sounds post in the comments.
A list containing most of the muted sounds can found here at wowpedia.org.
Basic list of muted sounds
- Common mechanical units, creatures and mounts: Including the Goblin Trike, Chopper, MechaStrider, Flying Machine and Rocket Mount sounds
- Pets with looping or often played sounds: Lil'XT, Smoky, Singing Sunflower, Perky Pug & Thor to name a few.
- All train emote and worgen sniff sounds.
- Tyraels Charger mount sounds. All sounds including the ambient loop.
- Biological and Misc mount sounds: Includes Mammoth, Saber, Horse, Undead Horse, Fossilized Raptor, Celestial Steed, Chicken, Bear, Elekk, Ram, Hawkstrider, Winged Guardian and Broom Stick sounds. This also removes all wingflap noises.
- Hunter attacks and pet sounds: Gunshot, Wasp Wings, Monkey, Core Hounds (Including the giant footstep sounds).
- Waterfall, River and Fountain sounds: This is mainly for fountains (especially those in stormwind!).
- Various Class Spell sounds: Things like rogues FoK, deathknight/warlock/paladin mount spells, path of frost, mage armor, hunters pet call, shaman elemental shields.
- Elemental creature loop sounds: Mage water elemental pets and shaman fire & earth totems.
- Elemental and Revenant Fire aggro and death sounds: These sounds are spammed in the firelands daily hub area.
- City sounds: Orgrimmar, Darnassus, Stormwind & Ironforge clock sounds and a few looping ambience sounds.
- Event sounds: Headless Horseman Speech, Brewfest mole machine, Midsummer bonfire buffs, Fireworks.
- Battleground sounds:
- Alterac Valley: Herald sounds
- Warsong Gulch: Start, Victory & Defeat sounds.
- Arathi Basin: "Faction Near Victory" sound.
- Strand of the Ancients: Victory/Defeat sound.
- Alterac Valley: Herald sounds
- Tradeskill sounds: Alchemy, Leatherworking, Engineering, Blacksmithing, Tailoring and Jewelcrafting sounds.
- Other Misc sounds: Dismount, Piccolo of the Flaming Fire, Instance Portals, Toy Train Set & more.

If you would like to make a request for a sound to be added please post in the comments below and be specific.
If you are requesting a creature please include the name of the creature that uses the sounds!
Installation:
Extract the "Sound" folder to your World of Warcraft>Data folder.
To uninstall simply delete the Sound folder.
To unmute specific sounds, find the path from the text file included or the online list and delete both the .ogg & .wav versions of the files.
There are .ogg and .wav versions of each sound as some sounds can only be muted by one type, since there is no way to know which one without going in game and testing each sound I have simply included both regardless.

- The emitters folder was causing weird problems when using the smaller size sound files. If you moved around near a sound that had been muted it would mute all other sounds. I have replaced it them with the larger files again.

Maybe I missed this somewhere. But how are you finding the sounds that you muted. I personally want to mute 99.9% of the entire game. The only sound i want to work is if i hear a stealth person like a rogue or druid. Just that sound that lets you know you just walk by or been walk by a stealthier.
I am a pvp and that is the only sound i need to ear. I use another add-on that tells me what spells are being casted or spells used. Please help""
I am actually looking for the same thing lachish is describing. I only want to hear the stealth sound. Is this even possible, perhaps with a single ow-memory addon?

only thing i would like to see added: hunter stances sounds
since you switch stances quite a lot in pvp it really gets boring after a while (read: i want to rip off my ears)

Make sure you create an ogg and wav version for each sound.
Just copy some of the sounds already in the addon and rename the files.

€: i still hear the sound of switching an aspect (not the scream of the animal, but the normal "changing sound"). do you happen to know the name of the soundfile? would be really awesome
Can you tell me which file is it that is muting my female dwarf laugh...I seached the whole file list and can not find anything other then choochoo one and death sound..
This addon does not mute any character laughs.
yes i have installed the files in the right directory. but the celestial steed mute does not work.
the mount continues to make noise while flying (wing flap) and I can't shut it up.
Can you add the option to mute the sounds of battle sounds but still hear what the boss and background noise of a raid/dungeon but not the grunting and yelling.

OK...My bad. yes, its in the right folder, but I see now that many sounds are simply not in there ("not removed"), so I hear them. Like footsteps, and many weapon swings, and many of my own mage sounds.
For instance, I can hear Cone of Cold, but not Arcane Explosion.
Where can I get all sounds?.....So that I can remove them all except boss emotes, and then I can go in and remove what I want from the sound folder so that I can hear it should I decide I want to.
