About OPie

OPie is a radial action-binding addon: it lets you group actions into rings which appear when you hold down a keyboard or mouse binding. When you release the binding, OPie will perform an action based on where your mouse cursor is.

Use OPie to reduce the amount of clutter on your action bars: rings can contain your abilities, items, professions, battle pets, equipment sets, macros, and raid or world markers. Some rings for common class abilities and professions are included, as is a special quest items ring which automatically makes all of your quest and quest-starting items easily accessible. Other addons may add additional rings; for example, Spade uses OPie rings to let you chose the seeds you want to plant on your farm.

Download OPie today; configure to your liking (/opie), and customize your rings (/opie rings). For more details, see the OPie Guide, the screenshots on Curse, or a YouTube video of OPie in action.

Ring snapshots and tutorial/gameplay videos

You can create snapshots of your custom rings to share with other players; if you like, you can post them in the comments section on this page. Likewise, if you've created a video showing how you use OPie, I would very much like to hear about it.

Bug reports and feature requests

If you encounter any problems while using OPie, or think of useful functionality to add to OPie, use the OPie ticket tracker to get a faster response.

Restart World of Warcraft if updating from a version prior to Plum 1.

New Features

  • Macros triggered via OPie can now use extended functionality:
    • Added #mute, #mutenext, #unmute macro metacommands for suppressing error notifications.
    • Added #skip, #important macro metacommands for controlling feedback in presence of multiple slash commands.
    • Added /runmacro [options] Macro Name slash command.
    • You can now use extended conditionals in macros, e.g. /cast [zone:Isle of Thunder] Kirin Tor Beacon; Hearthstone.
  • Added [talent:] extended macro conditional, which checks whether you've selected a specific talent. For example, [talent:4.2] [talent:60.2] [talent:Burning Rush] are all equivalent ways of checking for the Burning Rush talent on a Warlock character.
  • Added feedback for /equip, /equipset, /summonpet, /targetmarker, /worldmarker, /pet-controlling commands, and /click ExtraActionButton1 in macros.
  • /castrandom now provides accurate feedback.
  • Slices showing equipped items now display a small green banner in the top left corner.
  • Added new default rings for Warlocks.
  • {{mount:ground}} and {{mount:air}} in OPie macros are now replaced with a randomly-selected mount of the appropriate type.
  • The Summon Random Favorite Mount ability can now be added to OPie rings on 6.0.

Changes

  • Revoked battle pets are now indicated as unusable.
  • The #show* metacommands are now treated as an #important /use.
  • Minor tweaks to some bundled druid, warlock, and death knight rings.
  • The Per-slice icons and Center caption appearance options have been removed.
  • Item slices with 0 remaining charges/items are no longer indicated as usable.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an error that occured if the Blizzard_CompactRaidFrames addon was disabled.
  • Fixed an issue causing [spec:1] and [spec:2] to always evaluate to false.
  • Fixed a division by zero error that occured if zoom-in/out time was set to 0.
  • Fixed multiple errors that could occur if macros, ring names, bindings, and other user-provided or system values contained curly braces or function.
  • Fixed an error that occured when a /macro-managed macro was deleted.
  • Fixed an error that might prevent the custom rings configuration UI from editing a ring containing invalid slices.
  • Fixed an incorrect synthesis of macro conditional clauses combining @unit with other conditionals.
  • /macro-created macros for which no dynamic action has been recognized may now fallback to showing the /macro-configured icon.
  • Macros for which no dynamic action has been recognized, and contain unrecognized slash commands are now displayed as usable rather than unusable.
  • [form:cat] now correctly recognizes Claws of Shirvallah.
  • Improved item feedback for items with random enchantments and equipped items.
  • Fixed an error occuring when attempting to open a nested ring.

    Perhaps at some point in the future, though the lack of canonical icons for those menu items makes it somewhat tricky.

    Note that recent versions of OPie allow you to use LibDataBroker launchers as slices -- if you were to find one that would provide those for the actions you want, you could add them to your custom OPie rings yourself. While this still involves downloading another addon, you'll at least be able to invoke those actions through OPie's UI.

    Hello, I am not sure whether to post this in the Masque or Opie comment section, but here goes: What I would like to do is use a skin from Masque to apply to Opie. So far so good. However, I cannot make it change the colors of the borders of the icons in the Masque config; they are always white unless I click "Color BF slices" in the Opie menu (and then they are all colored by the slice color, not the color I've chosen as standard). Is there any way to make the borders the color I want them to be, perhaps update with proper Masque support now that BF is no longer used?

    This is likely an issue in OPie's handling of tinting (rather than anything on BF's end); you should post a ticket.

    Just wondering if I was alone here or not.

    I check 'hide stance bar' because Opie handles this is a much smoother manner, however whenver i log out or have to /reload or anything of that nature, the stance bar hops back up and i have to open opie, uncheck the box, re-check the box, and continue gameplay.

    Am I alone or are there plans to correct this in the future?

    This seems to work as intended for me -- the stance bar should remain hidden unless you change the value of the checkbox. Try disabling other addons, and seeing if the issue persists.

    it seems to be fighting with rActionBarStyler from Rothui.

    i'll let Zork know as well, even if it is a minor issue and i don't really care if it gets fixed i feel both of you should know.

    I cant get the slice option "use as quick action" to stick. Every time I exit the config menu it unchecks itself. The ring is bound to the middle mouse button and I want to beable to press and release it to go into cat form or hold and gesture up for bear form or hold gesture right for flight form. I've had this setup before and not being able to do it is killing me...dying from fall damage as fumble to find flight form is not cool :P

    Been away from the game for a bit and when I saw they way you revamped the add slice to ring interface I was blown away ! +1 and +2 to you good sir.

    I still don't seem to be able to get the quick action's to work.

    I have by desired ability with "Allow as quick action" checked but when I release the keybind nothing happens.  I have tried this with "Quick action at ring center" under Behavior checked and unchecked both with no luck.

    Am I missing something or is it still broken?

     

    EDIT:  Ok so I got it working...

    Seems I need to have "Per-slice bindings" checked under Behavior also.  However each time "Per-slice bindings" was rechecked, the "Allow as quick action" check box for the desired ability needed to be disabled, re-enabled and then updated before any of the settings would take effect.

    It's no wonder I was confused, so while I worked it out I ask, is this the intended  behaviour?  If so, it's quite confusing and I would suggest some more detail in to what's going on.

    I created one ring then added a 2nd ring for my tradeskills. When I point to my tradeskills, they show but how do I cycle thru them. I only get my JC skillset but can't rotate to mining, first aid, cooking, etc which are on the 2nd ring.

    haven't seen a response yet - how do I cycle thru a 2nd ring's icons when that 2nd ring is off the first ring?

    Scrolling is the mechanism that works for me. Mousewheel or two fingers on a Mac trackpad, usually. If that's not working specifically, then I hope you get that figured out.

    Yeah mouse wheel isn't scrolling through the 2nd ring.

    Mouse wheel scrolling should work. Depending on the sensitivity option in /opie options, you may have to scroll the wheel several notches before the ring rotates. Newer versions added additional bindings you could use to rotate nested rings; those can be set using /opie bind
