About PetBattle Teams

5.3: Blizzard reset some Pet Id's which PetBattle Teams uses to figure out which pets belong to your teams; Because of this some players may have lost some or all of their teams. In the options menu I have added a new option called 'reconstruct teams' when clicked it will attempt to rebuild your teams based on your current pets and the abilities you had previously selected for your teams. This is unlikely even when successful to rebuild your teams 100% as they were but it will hopefully create a good starting point for you to rebuild your teams.

Going forward species Id's will also be saved so if in the future blizzard wipes your pet Ids again that your teams can be rebuilt with more accuracy.

Features:

General:

  • Create an unlimited teams of pets and quickly switch between them in the pet journal.
  • Reliable pet switching even when spammed with requests to change teams.
  • The skills in the tooltip are the saved skill selections
  • The frames location is now saved.
  • Pets are saved to your current team as you make changes, no more hitting save. (This behavior can be disabled by unchecking "Automatically save teams" in the options).
  • Teams can be named, deleted or locked by right clicking the team.
  • Additional options are available from Game Menu -> Interface -> AddOns -> PetBattleTeams

Main Frame:

  • Teams are displayed to the right of your pet journal in the pet battles team frame
  • The star denotes your active team.
  • Swap pets between teams by dragging and dropping! Add pets from the pet journal directly to teams, or swap within your own teams.
  • copy pets by holding shift while dragging the pet to copy it to another team.
  • reorder teams by control - dragging a pet.
  • Displays your pets levels, quality and health, icon at a glance
  • Each pet in a team can be moused over for additional information.
  • The active team is now displayed at the top of the frame.
  • Teams with gold borders are locked by the user.
  • Locked teams cannot be modified.

Slash Commands:

  • use "/pbt reset ui" to reset the UI and re-attach the frame to the pet journal
  • use "/pbt reset teams" to reset your teams
  • use "/pbt lock teams" to lock all existing teams
  • use "/pbt unlock teams" to unlock all existing teams
  • use "/pbt attach" to attach PetBattle Teams to the Pet Journal
  • use "/pbt detach" to detach PetBattle Teams to the Pet Journal
  • use "/pbt lock frame" to lock the PetBattle Teams frame
  • use "/pbt unlock frame" to unlock the PetBattle Teams frame

Usage:

  • Click the pet battle icon in the upper right to access the lock and attachment options
  • Press the + button to create additional teams
  • Right click a team to delete|rename|lock it. There is a confirmation before deleting to prevent accidents.
  • Left click a pet in a pet battle teams frame to make that team the active team.

r33 added experimental fix for 5.3 petID's. Not guaranteed to restore all teams perfectly but it should be a good start.
r33 put    /run PetBattleTeams.modules.TeamManager:FixTeams()  into your chat bar and hit enter.

r32 each pet in a team is tagged with its speciesID
r32 if a petID is no longer valid then from the options menu you can select to reconstruct teams. For each invalid petID, PBT will find the highest level pet of the same species and add it to that team.
r32 removed Import Teams functionality as its no long relevant
r32 added Reconstruct teams option in the same location as Import teams
r32 note: this change is backwards compatible with previous versions if you need to downgrade
r32 note: this change will not restore previously lost pets

r31 left clicking the menu button now hides PBT's main frame and attaches the menu button to the pet journal near the close button in the upper right.
left clicking the menu button while its attached to the petjournal frame will reshow PBT's main frame.

    I see what your saying and the answer is a bit convoluted and maybe ill be able to stream line this in the future but heres the workaround.


    Uncheck automatically save
    Create a new blank team
    make that team the selected team (clearing your current team)
    Check automatically save
    Configure your team the way you want it
    Uncheck automatically save

    I think the easiest way to solve the issue is to simply add a 'delete {petname}" option to the right click menu for the team frame. Then you can just create a team normally, right click delete the pet and then right click lock the team and that should give you what your after. And maybe a setting which says instead of clearing the slot ignore it for empty pets.

    I certainly do not want to impose on any designs you have in mind; it is your mod and I think it is great work.

    But if the change makes sense and you decide to add it at some point, my thanks in advance.

    It wasn't designed for that but I don't see why the option cant be added in the near future. Its a bit more complicated than just hiding the pet frames at the moment.

    Thanks SO much for a quick reply. I thorougly enjoy your mods; good stuff. I actually thought of your work around but in hopes of a better solution, I posted here.

    A delete pet button/menu option would be perfect.

    I am also curious if you have plans to minimalize the UI a bit. Currently, I have tons of teams and it is not that important for me to see the team pets (in the nav menu on the right, the mod), rather, I browse by the label I give them. Would be nice to be able to just see the labels and hide the three pet icons in the interest of space efficiency.

    Control-drag a pet on a team to re-order the team. It says it right in the tooltip.

    A little problem: When at AH (using Auctionator and TradeSkillMaster) PetBattle Teams are constantly spamming "BATTLE_PET_CURSOR_CHANGED nil nil nil nil" in the chat. I've tried disable your addon and the error goes away. Any clue on that?

     

    Edit: Can tell that the error message appears everytime a item is scanned, so if I check the price on a number of items; the message shows that many times.

    I tried disable both Auctionator and TradeSkillMaster and the error message still shows, while using AH

    Not sure this is easy or possible, but a way to export Team names, Team Companions, and Selected attacks for each would be really awesome ;) Then I would be able to post them in a forum for example without manually going through each and every team and typing them all out manually.

    Possible to Ctrl-Roll Mousewheel (or whatever) to scroll teams when in "compact" view (Not showing roster)?

    Also, in addition to dismissing pet after switching team, maybe an option to just NOT summon a pet and block that totally so that current pet is not replaced then the new pet is not dismissed leaving us petless.

    Just some thoughts, loving it as always and thanks for the compact (no roster) view!

    EDIT: I turned off the roster, have one team showing (shrunk the size), turned the roster back on and it appears now I am seeing the Current Team + 1 other team of the roster, however the teams all appear to be sorted backwords, Ie. what was at the top is at the bottom and scrolling up ends up with a blank spot.

    EDIT2: The scroll arrows are not working after swapping back to showing the roster while only big enough to show 1 team and active team. It appears that it requires at least 2 "roster" teams showing to scroll.

     Afaik you can't prevent it. I'll look again. Yep happens as a result of calling setpetladout. Nothing I can do about it beyond what I'm already doing

    Ill look into the bugs. I probably just need to reset the scroll bar when the roster is re shown.

    Couldn't repro, hope the change fixed it.

    Repro'd , OnVerticalScroll stops firing when the scroll window only shows 1 entry. Meaning I need force a min size of 2 entries =/ lame.
     
    edit2: i can use onmousewheel but its going to take some finessing. so its better saved for another day.

    Might be excessive work wise, but what about re-summoning the original pet in that case? Really not a huge issue, makes me want to smack Blizzard up side the head though ;)
