About PitBull Unit Frames 4.0

PitBull4 is a continuation of PitBull.

Differences from PitBull 3:

  • It's mostly done, but not entirely done thus why there are still only betas (despite this it is still very stable).
  • Documentation is written before functions
  • Much easier for third-party extensions.
  • Options will be much, much simpler. In 3.0, there's about 200 panels that you can mess with, it's overwhelming. I want to bring this down to somewhere around 10.
    • Layouts are defined deterministically and unit groups use the layout rather than ad-hoc layouts on a per-unit basis. This will make setting up your unit frames far, far easier.
    • Due to some decisions made, 4.0 is actually more configurable than 3.0. As a layout designer, you will have a lot more control over how things look. You can have different fonts on the same frame, different textures, more precise positioning, and a whole slough of other things.
  • CPU Efficiency will be taken much more seriously.
  • It uses Ace3 instead of Rock.

    Recently updated to this over the older PB3 and am, thus far, very pleased. It did take me a while to figure out how to configure everything, and I'm sure there is still more for me to learn. I do have a question currently concerning the target buffs/debuffs. I can't seem to get any tool tips for different buffs/debuffs on the unit frames, is this possible?

    Ok not sure if this is planned for implementation or not but it'd sure be great. When you've got 25 raid frames up with raid pets its freakin annoying when only say player #17 and #23 have a pet and the pet frames are all over the place. Maybe some way to sort the pet frame group? Like existing pets ascending or something?

    One other thing, some way to disable groups not needed in battlegrounds and wintergrasp.

    Other than that made the switch from 3 tonight, spent a couple of hours relearning the config and setting it up and I don't get that ghosting bars problem I used to in 3. Real happy. Good work.

    This is a limitation of how we're implementing pet frames at this time. It's on my todo list to allow you to select which way of doing it. I just haven't gotten to it.

    On the unit page it has a slider for horizontal and vertical positioning. any chance of adding input boxes to this also so that we can position things exactly where we want them?

    the slider seems fairly useless as it jumps 30-40 pixels at a time. it's only real use is in reporting the current location it seems.

    There's already a text input box right below the slider. It's the same with every single slider in an Ace3 addon.

    Something else I confused about - The ability to make my background/health bar or border glow on "Aggro" seems only to take aggro as "getting hit by something"

    So If a mob disengages from me and heads for my healer I've no way of knowing this until the healer starts crying.

    Intended or fixable? I know X-perl has the feature where aggro (being targetted by a mob) makes the unitframe of that character glow. Am hoping for something similar with Pitbull as I much much prefer it.

    That's already how the aggro module works. XPerl and PB4 both use LibBanzai to tell us who has aggro. So there should be no difference between what they show. Keep in mind that there are limitations of the game itself. If nobody has the mob targeted it's not going to show anyone as having aggro from it. There's no way around that limitation.

    What problems are you having? What exactly are you trying to do with the profiles. It's hard to help you with the limited information you've given.

    First off - Lovely, I love it - looks so cool and just the feel I'm after.

    Secondly, and of course, there is 1 thing that doesn't work for me - when putting text into boxes there seems to be no option for just 'Level of X'

    That is to say, under the NAME category I believe there is an option that displays my character as :

    "44 Warrior Orc"

    No other option seems to give me what I'm looking for which is either:

    "44" or "44 Warrior"

    There is an option that gives "44 Orc" Which isn't terribly useful for my ideal set-up but will work for now.

    I'm likely being a dumbass, other than this it really is a very good looking piece o' shizzle!

    Love this addon. Alot of effort has been put into it already but if you ever have the time what would be really kool is if we can choose the range for the range fader and how much to fade it by!

    I think it's at 30 yards atm? but my spells are a 36 yrd range ie it fades out before it's actually out of range :( anyhow great addon will use no matter what.
