About Player Notes

PlayerNotes

Why it's good: Unobtrusive, minimalist, realm based system with simple interface including reputation setting.

What it does: Allows you to create and store notes about players and set a reputation level regarding how you feel about them. This will display next to their portrait when targeted and in other useful places. A list is also available in the social window under Notes tab (this tab is added next to friends and ignore).

Current Features:

  • Notes and reputation can be set and edited entirely though player target icon (left click cycles reputation, right click opens note edit box).
  • Notes are stored on a realm wide basis (your alts can see and set notes too).
  • Note list available in social window, notes can be created/viewed/edited/removed though this interface and listing can be sorted alphabetically or by reputation.
  • Short note and reputation displayed on target mouse over tooltip.
  • Note and reputation displayed in raid window with edit functionality.
  • Options to control what contexts the notes display in

Planned Features:

  • Note viewing added to right click context menu on players name in chat windows.
  • Ability to send and receive notes from other players.
  • Addition of user created fields notes can be sorted into (e.g. clan/horde/alliance/etc).

PlayerNotes v1.7.3

Changes:
  • Fixed a number of bugs when editing/adding notes via the social panel.

Please update it ! I like the idea of this addon, but it is placed over blacklist addon tab, so i can't use it. Could you fix this problem please?

I got 50+ ADDON_ACTION_BLOCKED errors in Isle of Q. Something needs a InCombatLockdown() lest before it loops thru the whole raid.

There were some bugs in the social window when editing and adding notes/players. These are fixed in 1.7.3.

I'm aware of the tooltip explosion that was happening where it would fill with the same line. It is caused by the tooltip changing without first being hidden I believe.. Hopefully all the patches to WoW make it not happen any more, otherwise I will have to think of something..

Oh yeah and for those of you who celebrate christmas you can consider this a late present! :p

Sorry for the delay on updates, there were a lot of things broken by the various cata patches..

Everything should now be working again. There may be some bugs I'v not seen yet, especially in the raid interface since I'v not tested it properly, so please post any problems you have.

To any one asking 'can I make this work with x mod' the answer is yes, BUT you need to tell me exactly what doesn't work and what isn't working about it. Any mods that radically change your UI are unlikely to work properly because it wont know where the display the frames if the blizzard ones are missing.

Links to notes on the chat drop down was planned but I didn't get around to it. It would be logical to extend that to /who data as well.

No, you can't currently change cross realm notes in the social panel, it only shows local realm notes. In previous versions they would show up with a * in the list, but with the addition of cross realm instances I thought it would be best to record realm data properly. I didn't actually consider that people might want to edit those notes later.. I will need to add an option to display all realms instead of just local I guess.

Can anyone tell me where the variables are saved? Since this addon no longer works at all, and appears to be completely unsupported, I was going to find where the information is stored, and manually copy it to a much less effective medium where I would at least still have access to it. I've tried checking all the files in the addon's folder, and the WTF folder, and can find no trace of the 'notes' I've stored on players, does anyone know where I can find it?

I had a problem with this mod. I use vuhdo on my priest to heal and whenever my mouse is over the raid bars, the tooltip spams "neutral" upwards and obscures my healing frames.

An update would be nice. I miss this mod. It still shows the old notes on tooltips, but would be nice if the full functionality was available again.

    Can anyone fix it?

I really enjoy the functionality of this mod, and would LOVE it if it were updated to work with the new friends tab of the social page like it did with the old one.

    please update this wonderful mod

    Is this addon still updating?
Is it possible to make it working with PitBull frames?
Is it possible to make it working from chat, like: if person ninjaed smth and left the raid, im typing "/who badname", then rightclicking his name and adding a comment?

Addon itself is nice - light and small, just a bit limited on adding information.
In "socialize" window i can add player to a list, but cannot add a comment to him.

Is this possible to make the ui compatible with UnicodeFont? And is there any method to close the function of "Mouseover tooltip"? This function will be auto-checked whenever I relog in... Thnaks!

    Greetings,

I'm trying out Player Notes to remind me of arena opponents I've met and quick notes about successful tactics. Quite a few opponents come from different realms.

Apparently the list in my Friends frame should display both players from my own realm and from other realms. However, I can only ever see players from my realm.

To edit an arena opponent's note once the match is over I have to manually change the PlayerNotes.lua SavedVariables file for that player. Is this intended behavior? From what I've read in the comments below the list should display all names and simply add an asterisk to players from other realms, like Playername (*). Which would be perfectly fine; this way I could change the notes even after the arena match.

    All the best

Bug: Note appears in tooltip even when option is off multiple times when using HealBot during a battle. Thus a tooltip will spam your rating each time you touch a player's name in HealBot, leading to a long list of "Neutral" (or whatever rating you have) on screen. You have to wait for the tooltip to disappear before spam will reset.
