So you suggest changing it from Nil to nil and that will result in fewer CPU cycles? I think I typed it that way because that was the error I was receiving back when I created that function years ago. I'll check it out and add it the list of things for the next update.
  • #174
So I am thinking of removing the healing totals. The reason it was originally implemented was back in the Burning Crusade expansion with 2.0 API, the casting priest didn't get credit for the heal, whoever it was on got credit, so you would see tanks and melee with tons of PoM heal on them. If you were the only priest you knew it was all yours, but then if there were 2 priests you just had no idea. So it was an awesome feature at the time but now I think it's something most people don't even look at. I even had the request to have the ability to hide it which I have included...but was thinking of just removing it altogether as it will be one less thing eating up memory in the background. What do you all think?
  • #173
Well it seems 4.0.6 broke something, i'm really not sure what as there were not any real major LUA changes that I am aware of. I'll get working on an update.

@encchar: I'll take a look at the Fade when not active, I personally don't use this feature so thanks for bringing it my attention. As far as making it look like all the other timers out there, this has been discussed previously and some people really like the fact that it doesn't look like everything else out there, now I'm not saying I won't look into it, maybe I can have an option to let users choose their style, with the classic look, or just a bar.

@AmeroGer: I can see where this might be useful, i'll have to think of the best way to implement something like this. Since the game has its own power auras now I don't want to do anything that would block them visually, perhaps adding a glow effect to the mod itself? I'll have to think about this one.

2 problems holding this back from best pom tracker.

'Fade when not active' doesnt always work, half the time it randomly shows 'no target' and doesnt fade.

There should be an option to make the window more appealing and match the other major wow timers, Dot timers timer, Elkano Buff bars timer, the entire window should be a timer.

In the 4.0.6 Patch notes it looks like PoM is getting buffed so the first charge will do 60% more healing. More reason critics of this mod have to not use it I guess, if PoM is going to focus more on a quick/instant emergency heal people won't care as much who it's on.
  • #171
It's only a glyph that's probably aimed at PvP. Another request: Is it possible to build in some kind of power aura effect when PoM is inactive?
  • #169
Glad to see this mod finally being updated. I started using it when I realized I wasn't using my PoM enough (of all things =p) and found it was a great way to keep track of when PoM had stopped bouncing, the CD, and whether to cast a new one or not. I really think this will be even more useful in the Cata expansion. TY for your efforts. =)

I'm hoping this mod will get a bit popular again, a lot of people didn't realize that this mod was written while Burning Crusade was in beta. You know, back when mana was important and wasting precious mana on PoM that didn't need to be cast was extremely useful? I realized that in my absense there were different sites and forums talking about how useless it is to track, to just recast when it's off cooldown ect...and I realized in WotLK AoE fest with spam Smart Heals for every class it wasn't a big deal anymore. But now that it's going back to the old style of healing I'm thinking it will have its uses. Another argument is that other mods like healbot track it...while that may be true it does it in a different way. Different styles, different tastes. Another thing some WotLK players might not realize was back in BC when this was created the APIs and events didn't work right for Prayer of Mending, remember heal meters showing tank up top because it gave him credit? lol, that is why features like healing totals are on there...of course now it is fixed, and with 4.0s api there are some new cool features that they intended to include that bugged em out...so perhaps this is the beginning of the end for this mod. But if Mana is going to be tight again I might go back to an awesome healing mod idea I had and started working on before I realized that in WotLK it just didn't matter.

    We'll see...

great mod! is there any way to change to sound file?
  • #167
well, found out how to do it :) thanks anyway.

i changed it to PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Spells\\SimonGame_Visual_GameTick.wav"). the default sound of the addon for "pom over\pom dead" - the misdirect sound, is hard to noticed in heavy fight.

  • #164
thank you thank you thank you!

Yesterday the mod was broken by the patch so the release was simply a conversion to the new version. Today I pretty much scrapped the tracking code and rewrote it from scratch taking into account new 4.0 API and event features. Once that's final and stable I'm going to rework the UI that people have been requesting for years. So look for some improvements and if there are any suggestions I will do my best to work them in. Cooldown alert should be in the next release and I am currently looking into the no sound alerts when the frame is hidden.
  • #163
One suggestion: instead of listening for PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD, listen for PLAYER_LOGIN instead. Right now it's printing the "version XXx loaded, type /blah for options" every time the player changes continents, goes in/out of an instance, etc.
  • #165
I'll get that corrected. I got a bit disappointed last night, as i posted earlier I spent a couple hours yesterday re-writing the tracking code to use some of the new 4.0 features which I do during lunch and other work breaks. When I got home to test the new code one of the staple new features that I was counting on seems to be bugged so that revision is put on hold until it gets fixed...if it gets fixed. So for now i'll just package up a new release with all the other changes and fixes I had made. Hopefully i'll get it up tonight.
  • #159
Hey all, I just reactivated my WoW last night after 1.5 years of absence...I haven't had time to look into it much but would a revision of this mod matter anymore? Not sure if something better is out there by now or if PoM is nerfed/changed or even integrated into the default UI now with Cata.
