About EmoteLDB

Overview

Welcome to EmoteLDB! This is a DataBroker port of my old addon, EmoteFu. It is meant to give players an easily accessible menu of emotes. The emotes have been sorted by category (ie. Friendly", "Hostile", etc) to make it quite simple to quickly access the emote you want. Emotes can end up in more than one category, where applicable (ie. /dance can be found in "Happy" and "Affection").

Emotes in the list are colorized and marked with a label (A, V, AV) if they are Animated, Voice, or Both.

It is also possible to add your own custom emotes! To do so, simply edit the EmoteData.lua file. You will want to match the format exactly or that mod may no longer function! If that occurs, just replace the EmoteData.lua with a good copy from the zip.

Dependencies

This addon has no external dependencies, but does work best with a LibDataBroker display addon, such as Docking Station. In the absence of such an addon, it will operate from a minimap icon.

Known Bugs

There are no known issues at this time.

If you find a bug, please submit a ticket.

To-Do

Localization framework has been added in version 40300-2.0!

  • Localized strings are now needed!
    • Strings to translate are available in localization.lua.
    • If a string looks like L["Some String"] = true, then "Some String" is what needs translated
    • If a string looks like L["Some String"] = "String text", then "String text" is what needs translated
    • In the emote strings, anything in <> (ie. Target, He, She, etc) MUST remain as is for the addon to work. It is translated elsewhere.
    • Please submit translations via a ticket.

I have a suggestion about localization: you can use "automated localization" that presents in game.

I don't know technical details how to do that, but it works in EmoteCenter addon. There are not only emote text translated, but also there are localized versions of slash commands. And this done using internal game localization without need to translate manualy.

I just downloaded it but can't seem to access the menu? How do I pull it up?

It's available from a minimap button if you don't have any kind of LDB display.  If you do have an LDB display, it will be available from that.

Cilraaz, If you are looking for a LBD display of some kind, Stat Block Core works flawlessly on Beta (never had a single error from it at all, and I have been working on my own addons since they were enabled).

The framework for localization has been added.  If you want to submit localized strings, please do so via a CurseForge ticket.

is there a russian version? i want one so badly(((

or could you explain how to translate the addon?

  • #7

There are currently no translations for the addon.  The addon isn't even programmed to allow for localization.  After a pretty long period with no required development (none of the patches have broken it), I actually plan on localizing the addon this week.  The addon will not be fully localized, as I don't speak multiple languages, but the strings that require translation will be known and condensed into a single file.

I miss a german version and it doesnt have an option to add it to fubar which I had with the previous version. Can you please add one?

I rerolled back to the older version for the time being. I dont like the new style. The dropdown version is much better (imo).

I stay with this one: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11741-Fubar-EmoteFuGerman.html

I have yet to do any localization for the addon. Currently all language is hardcoded. If anyone would like to start supplying me string translations, I'll look into doing localizations.

The new style is due to it being an LDB addon. Rather than tool around with the menu system, I decided to just display and interact via the tooltip, as most LDB addons do. If too many people don't like this, request a change, or request a toggle option, then I might look into changing it.
