About 8ball
Just a quick toy I made for fun. Uses the original 8ball answers.
Usage: /8ball [auto | keyword | <output channel>]
(or /eightball)
- Output channels: guild, party, raid, bg, yell, say, chan, whisper
- keyword <keyword>: Automatic reply when someone beings a sentance with the keyword.
- Auto: turns on/off automatic replies yes/no questions.
Notes:
- If /8ball does not work, you can use /eightball
- Automatic response tries to recognize a question as a yes/no question, however it is far from perfect.
- Automatic replies either using auto or the keyword will NOT respond to system channels (general/trade/etc), nor battleground channel.

But when I tried to translate the auto-reply Words into German 8Ball stopped working. Is there something I have to keep in mind when I change something there?

For all of you who like to have 8ball auto respond to you, comment out lines 213-215.
Or change these lines:
if ( string.lower(Arg2) == string.lower(UnitName("player")) ) then
return;
end
to this:
--if ( string.lower(Arg2) == string.lower(UnitName("player")) ) then
--return;
--end
I use this addon all the time to predict the outcome of guild runs. Amazingly enough no one has caught on to the fact that they too can query my 8ball.
Hrm... this 48 hour downtime giving me time to dust off some cobwebs. Looks like i can use /8ball again. GG bliz.
Sorry, it's now /eightball. For some reason 2.0 messed up commands that start with numbers, so I had to change it. I couldn't change the description on this web site with all the new changes they were having problems. I gave up trying to change it and completely forgot to check back to see if I could change the description at a later date.
when i try to type the /8ball command it attempts to conect me to channel 8
i dont see any other way of getting round this other then renaming the command
so... what exactly does this do?
8ball works for everybody but me ... its a conspiracy imo
meaning:
anybody can /8ball on any channel and it will respond properly
xcept for me.. it wont work when i 8ball or eightball

Would it be possible to be able to select a keyword without which there would be no auto response? For example if the keyword is "8ball", only people who include "8ball" in or at the beginning of their sentence would get an auto response.
