About Error Sounds Be Gone!

DO NOT USE CURSE CLIENT

Curse client will not work with this addon because this addon is placed in a different folder (outside of the addons directory).

What does it do?

It Gets rid of all those annoying pesky GCD (Global cooldown) error sounds (woosh, clicks, bangs, and fizzle) so you can enjoy the nice sound of battle instead!

Enjoy

!!!!!!! Install Guide READ ME FIRST !!!!!!!

Extract the \Sound folder into your <DIR>\World of Warcraft\

or the \Language Folder

Example

H:\World of Warcraft\Sound\

or \enUS\Sound

Is this addon legal?

Yes, it is, it does not modify any files outside of addon folder, Blizzard allows sound replacement, if they didn't, this addon wouldn't work like this.

Error sounds still gone 4/26/2015
-Default /sound/ directory moved out of /data/ and into /world of warcraft/
-Updated readme to reflect directory changes

I am trying to disable the ability error clicking sound when spamming buttons. is there a way to just create an ingame script for this? Training for the arena tournament realm which doesn't allow addons for ranked teams.

I replaced Fizzle mage sounds with .ogg all SEEMS fine but now i get random dropouts in other spell casting noises like Arcane Blast :¬( way to go bliz and your oggification :¬(

Updated! Like the others said, Blizzard upgraded sound files to .ogg

Just to confirm what others have already said,

have been using this fix for years, after downloading the patch last night started hearing the anoying error sounds again. renaming them from .wav to .ogg fixed my issue.

here is a link to my sounds in case anyone is having problems: http://www.zilfa.com/random/wow_sounds/Sound.zip

also for referance, i am running Windows 7 64bit and the only codex's i have installed is CCCP (http://www.cccp-project.net/)

    hope it helps!

I had some issue with 4.3.3 as well. I tried to change the file extension, but it didnt work for me. Not sure if its a 64 bit Windows 7 thing or what.. But, I went and converted the .wav file to a .ogg file using a free web app and it worked. Thank God. Hope this helps someone who had the same issue as me. Good gaming All -)

no need to use a converter, just change the file extensions from .wav to .ogg

Same issue here, since 4.3.3 the fizzle sound and gcd error sounds are back.

Here is how i fixed mine, changed the extensions of the fizzle files from .wave to .ogg

Was anything changed in 4.3.3? I was using this yesterday and wasn't getting any error sounds, but now I'm getting the nwoosh sound after updating to patch 4.3.3. Sound files are still in the proper folders, seems the client is using a new error sound or something.

im having the same problem with 4.3.3. error sounds are back.

sorry. i have tried this numerous times, following all the old posts here. i don't think this works anymore. still getting that awful new 4.2 error sound when spamming or using macro. sigh.
  • #41
I do not receive any new error, are you sure it is installed correctly?

Works for me in Cata.. On MAC/OSX path was /Applications/World of Warcraft/Data/enUS

I did notice one folder was Sound/interface instead of Sound/Interface (capital 'i') so I renamed it and it worked fine.

Note that you must leave wow and re-enter it completely or the sound files won't be found, you can't do this alt-tabbed etc.
