About Prospect Me
Prospect Me is a simple and lightweight addon that gathers and stores the statistical results of a user's prospecting and milling results and displays that info inside a tooltip. The addon is designed to complement the use of addons like Tekkub's Panda although it is fully functional on it's own. Prospect Me uses ItemID's to gather, store, and display results and so should be functional with any localization.
Most importantly - if a player has an auction addon installed (Auctionator, Auctioneer, etc - adding more soon!), Prospect Me will gather item values and display the current prospect/mill cost and expected average return. Prospect/Milling cost is determined by Orb/Herb cost per unit x5; Average Return is determined by aggregating the % chance of receiving any particular result and the current value of those items.
Of note: Prospect Me does NOT use a database (like Wowhead) to project results - it is based on your individual returns. I did this because to me, it's more interesting to see what my results were rather than a hypothetical. Because of this you will need to use prospecting or milling on an item before you see any results!
ToDo:
Add Per-Session support.
Add Disenchant support?!?!
v1.0.0
Version 1.0, woooot!
Fixed - Updated Toc to interface version 4.3
New - Configuration settings! Prospect Me will now let you configure what sort of detailed information is displayed in the tooltip. Open blizzards addon frame for a GUI or use /prospectme to configure.
New - Localization support. Just English for now, but if anyone wishes to contribute localization, the variables are available - see localization.lua in the Prospect Me folder.
Improved - Condensed the default tooltip to make it more space efficient.
Improved - Prospect me now shows you the estimated profit from milling/prospecting (Thanks KippG for the suggestion and code!)
v0.7.2
Long overdue maintenance release for client version 4.2: no longer "out of date" yay!
v0.7.1
Fixed - Prospect Me should now work properly with Enchantrix and any other addon that hooks the secure function "SpellTargetItem"
Fixed - Prospect Me should no longer spew any errors if your auction database is LoadOnDemand and not currently loaded.
Improved - Cleaned up and commented some more of my code.
v0.7.0
Improved - Prospect Me now has improved handling of some auction addons and will automagically support any auction addon now or in the future that uses Tekkub's standardized GetAuctionBuyout(); this is in addition to the auction addons already supported.
Fixed - fixed a bug with AuctionLite; AuctionLite's database should now be read correctly.
v0.6.1
Fixed - Prospect Me should no longer care about case-sensitivity in macros and will now treat "/cast prospecting" the same as "/cast Prospecting" the same as "/cast PrOSPectINg", etc.
v0.6.0
New - Prospect Me will now identify an item class and display the proper skill text in the tooltip: "Times Milled" vs "Times Prospected", etc
Improved - For items that have <10% chance of being prospected/milled, Prospect Me now displays the % rounded to one decimal place: "4.3%" vs "4%".
Improved - some minor improvements to code readability and optimizations.
Note - The change to % display has no effect on "Average Return" since that number has always been calculated without rounding!
v0.5.1
First Beta release of Prospect Me. Everything seems to be pretty stable - please report any odd behavior!
v0.5.0
First public release of Prospect Me

First of all, let me congratulate you as this is an excellent addon!!! I've been thinking about coding something like this myself, but stumbled upon this and it works flawlessly.
One suggestion, though. Can you add means to adjust prices on ore/gems manually instead of pulling them from auctioneer? Personally I don't bother with gems other than ruby/carnelian and AH prices on ore vary a lot to be reliable.

Does this prospect ore with a single button?
I have it directly opposite, im not playing games, im playing auction house, so silly inaccurate numbers are bullshit to me. Can you implement the option to display the correct numbers?
Wow Sintrix, that is an extremely rude thing to say and your a fool to think numbers from Prospect Me are inaccurate. Quite the opposite... they are more accurate because they are your numbers... not someone elses. I imagine your a fool for more than this comment. Just move on to another addon that will not provide accurate result for your prospecting... please.
Prospect Me works wonderfully. I use it everyday and it has been extremely usefull. Thanks Vynn for an awesome addon.
They're neither "silly inaccurate numbers" nor are they incorrect, they're just from your own database rather than someone elses. Prospect Me is a dynamic tool and it works quite well with a sample size of <50 total prospects.
Part of the reason for Prospect Me's dynamic nature is the addon will function for all future expansions without needing an update. New Expansion, New Ore? Just prospact a stack or two and Prospect Me will start giving you results - no wait, no fuss, no updates required.
If you'd like a static tool, there are several other addons and excel spreadsheets out there that work and I'd recommend you maybe give one of those a shot - it may be better suited to your needs.
Otherwise, give Prospect Me a try and see how you like it.
Can you also include disenchanting?
Br
Kaktus
The major issue is that there are like 20 different suffixes that items can have each of which would get stored individually in my database (Greatstaff of the bear != Greatstaff of the wolf) even though they have the same disenchanting probabilities and are really the same item. Once you factor the naming issue in, getting the auction values for all of the variations on named items could be complex.
Anyway, not saying it isn't possible, but there are a lot of things I'd like to accomplish with this first.
Hi Kaktus1911,
I use Auctonator which you can find here on Curse. It functions similarly to Auctioneer but it's a little more light weight and simpler to use (although not quite as full featured). Auctionator supports better bid/buy/sell functionality, saved searches, disenchanting information (values/outcomes) and stores pricing data for use by other addons (Prospect Me will even get it's pricing data from Auctionator if you have it installed).
There are other addons with the functionality as well, but that's the one I can speak for personally :)

Hi
Which other addons would you suggest for DE?
Kaktus
I can see about adding it to my to do list, but right now I'm trying to finish out per-session statistics and the configuration menu so it would be a low priority. It's also somewhat outside of the scope of the addon, but could be useful for comparison.
This bug happens sometimes when a player begins to mill/prospect an item, cancels the spell cast, and the addon fails to register the canceled spell cast (which it is supposed to do) and then continues to search for opened containers. I'm not 100% sure of the cause, but I have a few ideas.
Anyway, the easiest way to fix the problem with the erroneous data is to remove the item(s) from the saved variables. To do this, **with WoW CLOSED**
1) Navigate to your saved variables directory, for example: C:/Program Files/World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/[ACCOUNT NAME]/Saved Variables/
2) Open ProspectMe.lua with your favorite text editor (you may want to make a copy to your desktop, just in case)
3) Find the main entry ItemID for Heartblossom under PM_ResultsTable (52986 is the ID)
4) Remove the (entire) line(s) with the erronious Item ID's from the sub table
5) Save the file, and you should be done.
So as an example:
PM_ResultsTable = {
["52986"] = {
["52986"] = 80,
["12345"] = 1,
["6789"] = 6,
["timesProspected"] = 34,
},
}
Becomes:
PM_ResultsTable = {
["52986"] = {
["12345"] = 1,
["13456"] = 6,
["timesProspected"] = 34,
},
}
If you have questions or problems, let me know and I'll try walk you through it another way.
