About Protection Rotation Helper (CLCProt)

CLCProt - Protection Rotation Helper - Works in 4.3.4

  • Based off of the newest CLCRet codebase.
  • This Addon displays the next move you should use in your rotation and any cooldown you would like tracked, as well as buffs/debuffs you want tracked.
  • Main rotation tanking abilities are all included.
  • Rotation can be changed in the options menu.
  • Sits quite happily alongside CLCRet and will auto disable when not in a Protection talent tree.
  • Commands: /clcprot - opens the options frame.

Rotation Tracker

v.1.4.30.004p | Manes | 2012-5-23 00:30

Default rotations set to the ones used by Noxxic/Elitist Jerks (normal uses single, alternative uses AOE, but more on that below).
Avenger's Shield Grand Crusade proc rotation identifier (you can prioritise a GC proc over a normal AS) using 'asgc'.
Added alternative rotation, meaning you can specify an alternative rotation to use. The ability to use this rotation by default AND/OR bind a hotkey to switch between normal/alt on the fly.
Removed un-used 'Demon' and 'Undead' mob-type identifiers in the options (not used).

I have really enjoyed previous versions of CLCProt...but not so sure about this.  Granted I haven't had much time to tweak it, but I've noticed a pretty sizable DPS loss since the new version came out.  Not sure what the cause for that would be.  And yes, I know I'm a tank and don't need to worry so much about DPS, but it does help hold threat and in fights that are DPS races.  I was consistantly pulling about 15k in DS normal and the first night I started using the update, I was seeing a loss of about 3-4k dps.  I actually went back and re-installed a prior version and my dps is back where it was before.

    Any ideas...suggestions?

After doing some testing with the old CLCProt, it was using extensive clash values and wasting GCD's waiting for other skills to come up. I will add more clash timers in the future for those who would rather wait x seconds for a skill to come up, than immediately use a filler.

I've currently been working on the following:
Default rotations set to the ones used by Noxxic/Elitist Jerks (normal uses single, alternative uses AOE, but more on that below).
Avenger's Shield Grand Crusade proc rotation identifier (you can prioritise a GC proc over a normal AS).
Alternative rotation, meaning you can specify an alternative rotation to use. The ability to use this rotation by default AND bind a hotkey to switch between them on the fly.
Removed un-used 'Demon' and 'Undead' mob-type identifiers in the options (not used).

The above should allow you to customise your rotation a lot more.
I've uploaded a beta version now and is awaiting approval for those who want to try it.

If you give me your old rotation, I can make this the default. Otherwise there is nothing different with this version, honestly. It uses less memory, less CPU, and has the added benefit of being customisable for those who want to switch it up to their own preference, but would like to stare at two boxes, rather than have to look down at all their skills to see which are off CD.

Tank in my guild manages to pull 17k+ in DS with the addon. Not going to disregard your comment - I'm just trying to understand what is wrong in your mind about it.

I'm adding in an "asgc" rotation addin for those wanting to prioritise the AS Grand Crusade proc over a normal AS.

The new version of clcprot selects abilities that are on cooldown.  I use both clcprot and clcret.

Found the issue. For some reason the WoG % is defaulting to 0, meaning it's doing a lovely divide by 0 and causing the rotation to crash out. If you go into CLCProt options, and under Rotation move the slider at the bottom to anything but 0, it'll work again.

Fix is commited to CurseForge, so expect a fix within a few hours.

I've updated this addon (technically I modified CLCRet from scratch).

It's now based on the newest CLCRet codebase and includes a Word of Glory minimum percentage so that it can pop into your rotation at the specified point whenever you hit that percentage or lower with 3 holy power.

It's got a few CLCRet options still in there, but they're harmless and won't do anything at all.

Do not ask updates if you can't read a few comments below.

I would really love to someone pick up his job. THank you

    can u update clcprot please

Could you please put something in this addon that disables it when I switch specs. I have to manually unload it every time I switch from prot to ret and back again. It's been doing this forever, please fix it.

You can fix this bug by editing the lua file:

Replace Disable() by CLCPROTDisable() throughout clcprot.lua

Replace Enable() by CLCPROTEnable() throughout clcprot.lua

I was receiving an error with the swing timer.  To fix that, I had to change line 18 in swing.lua from:

function clcprot:SWING_COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED(event, timestamp, combatEvent, sourceGUID, sourceName, sourceFlags, destGUID, destName, destFlags, ...)

    to

function clcprot:SWING_COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED(event, timestamp, combatEvent, hideCaster, sourceGUID, sourceName, sourceFlags, sourceRaidFlags, destGUID, destName, destFlags, destRaidFlags, ...)

There were changes made in 4.1 and 4.2 to the SWING_COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED function.  This catches it up to 4.2.

This change was for version 1.4.01.009.

Got this error respeccing to ret, but had the same graphic bug in prot spec.

    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/685/clcbug.jpg/ (ret spec)

Both clcprot and ret are set to only show on "valid target", which is clearly not the case in the screenshot.
