A simple, light-weight addon that plays Unreal Tournament 3 sound effects on killing blows and specific Battleground events. You can share your killing sprees and deaths with any other addon user, to make battlegrounds/battlefields and world pvp much more fun.

    I wasn't able to find any ticket tracker for this addon, so I'm posting this bug here.

    In the file PVPSound_DataShare.lua, line 22 and onwards you're using the variable 'PlayerName'. Which you haven't at any place defined as a local value. Which is a real problem. Because PlayerName is a global fontstring, used for the displaying the player's name on unit frames and vehicles. Whenever you enter or leave a vehicle, this addon will cause an error as a result of this. Try jumping into a canon in IoC for example. You'll get an error in Interface\FrameXML\PlayerFrame.lua:383 as a result.

    There are other values not defined as locals as well, but this one was the worst. It basically causes the UI to break. To fix that particular file the following line can be added to the start of it:

    local DSpree, KSpree, KillerName, KillerNameServer, PlayerName

    Using global values is pretty bad coding practice. They take far longer to access than locals, and if they have short simple names (like 'PlayerName') you can be almost certain they will interfere with other addons or the Blizzard code. In PVPSound.lua for example, if my eyes do not deceive me, you have used global names for 2 of your frames, and they are 'frame' and 'frame2'. That's pretty much the coding version of running around with nitroglyserin in your underwear. It's really not something you want to do. 

    I love the functionality of this addon, but the coding is volatile, and endangers any and every other addon I have installed, including the default Blizzard UI code. What you should do, is to make sure there are NO global variables at all, except for the saved settings. Those ofc need to be globals for the .toc file to recognize them. If you need to communicate values between the various files of the addon, you can do this by adding the following to the start of each file:

    local addon, ns = ...

    This will return the directory name as a string in 'addon', and the namespace for your addon in 'ns'. The 'ns' value is a table accessible by every file in your whole addon. So if you set for example 'ns.someThing = "YO!!"' in one of your files, then all of them will be able to retrieve the ns.someThing variable by adding the aforementioned line to the start of the file. 

    Much better way than using globals. Does the same job, but you will never ever run into a naming conflict with other addons or with the Blizzard code as in this case.

    Thanks for the heads up, gonna try to fix them, I have known the datasharing had some bugs since I added that funciton, but I wasn't be able to test it fully, since I need at least another player for the full tests. Also i'm pretty new with lua, what I know I learned it from myself.

    About the frame names I found no inferferes, but yeah i should rename it for something else than adding a 2 into it, but thats only in since the last 2 versions. About the frames should be local or not I'm just not sure.

    The other big problem I have been really inactive in the game in the last 5-6 months, so I just log on made the changes test it, and if it's working than its a release. Thats not the best way to test some of the difficult functions.

    how does this addon works? i get KB in batttlegrounds but he doesn't says 'FIRST BLOOD', how can i configure to do this? the addon says when a base is taken and all that things, but the funniest part that is use the UT voices is not working.

    Did you fully left the game and launcher before installed the addon?

    Also you can type "/ps" and check you options. And "/ps help" for the slash command lists.

    For killing blow sounds "/ps killsound" needs to be enabled, but it should be on by default.

    Also the addon currently not supporting pet killing blows sadly.
