About Quartz: Magebuff module

A module for Quartz (based on the "buff"-module) which provides only the buff/debuff information required for mages:

Frostfire: Living Bomb, Critical Mass (and similar), the Hot Streak proc & Impact.

Arcane: Number of Arcane Blasts and Missile Barrage!

Frost: Fingers of Frost & Brainfreeze.

(This module was formerly known as the "Frostfire module" for Quartz. Due to more info for other specs, a new name seemed necessary.)

0.56 Compatibility string updated for WoW 4.3

0.55 Updated version to be compatible with 4.2. Tried to fix a strange bug concerning low level characters.

0.54 Added "missile barrage!" and "impact". Now everything should be back in for the three different skill sets.

0.53 Added "brainfreeze", removed "fingers of frost".

0.52 Fixed minor bug.

0.51 Updated for WoW 4.0.1. Probably limited to the fire/frostfire tree again, since I did not have time to look at the other talents. This is a quick fix.

0.5 Update for Quartz V3, added "missile barrage" and "arcane blast" for arcane mages. Renamed to "Magebuff" due to the fact that it is no longer limited to the frostfire spec.

0.3: Update for game version 3.3, added "fingers of frost" for ice mages.

0.21: Minimal update for game version 3.2.

0.2: First public release.

Any news on an update for 5.0.4?

    One man one brain, 2 men 1/2 a brain, 3 men...no brains

  • #26

Are you planning to update Quartz Magebuff to support 4.2 anytime soon?

  • #27

Actually, it is already compatible with 4.2.

Compatibility for 4.3 will be added in the following weeks, when I have time for it.

I looked into this problem (which seems to be the same you described below). I did not really find a solution, but I changed the code somewhat. Please notify me if it still occurs. I still might not be able to fix it.
  • #23
The problem i'm aluding to revolves around the brain freeze talent. Up until the brain freeze talent is picked there's a conflict in the addon between the proc's of fingers of frost and arcane missiles. Once you've taken brain freeze talent the bug disappears.

There is a bug with fingers of frost with newly created characters. I have 3 mages on different realms, created at different times. This bug only happens on the one created since 4.013 came out; which would suggest there is somehow a difference in the spell mechanism for newer character creations as to that of older characters.

The bug appears on the first proc of fingers and then never again no matter how long you play for. It doesnt appear on a relog to the character. However does appear if d/c and then login.

I will try to look in to this, but I can promise nothing.
  • #19
Hi, can you please make a module for Warlocks?
  • #20
No, I can't. Since I don't play a warlock, I have no idea which information is relevant for one.

But I wrote the module in a way that makes it very easy to add or remove spells/buffs/debuffs, so go ahead and take a look at the source code.

    Thx for the update.
I agree on the suggestion to use Combustionhelper...with the addon you can see when is the right moment to cast combustion, also Livingbombhelper (new and updated) or Livingbombtracker (at the moment only a beta version on curseforge) work fine to track living bomb with mouseover

Should be fixed now, I uploaded 0.52 just now. Funny no one noticed this before.
  • #15
I tweaked the addon so that it works with 4.0.1.

For now, only fire/frostfire makes sense, since I did not have time to play with a frost- or arcane-build. Any suggestions concerning arcane or frost would be appreciated.

For fire-skilled mages, I can also very much recommend "Combustionhelper":
    http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/combustionhelper.aspx

It does basically the same job and tells you when it is most profitable to apply the combustion spell, but it has a different look.
