About Quartz

Quartz is a modular approach to a casting bar addon. An overview of (hopefully most of) the modules:

*Player

The core of Quartz is lightweight implementation of a standard casting bar, with configurable size, text and icon positioning, and colors.

*Target/Focus

Implementation of target and focus casting bars in similar fashion to the player cast bar.

*Buffs

Display of target and focus buffs and debuffs as duration bars using the new API introduced in patch 2.1.

*Flight

Hooks into FlightMap or InFlight to display the current flight progress on your casting bar.

*Global Cooldown

Displays a tiny spark-bar to show your Global Cooldown near the cast bar. Helpful for those who'd rather not squint at their action bars to see when they can cast again.

*Interrupt

Changes the color and text of your casting bar to help show that your cast has been interrupted (and show who interrupted it).

*Latency

Displays the amount of time spent between cast send and start events, in the form of a bar at the end of your casting bar, with optional text that displays the actual duration of the lag. This helps in canceling casts when they will not actually be interrupted, especially for users with consistently high pings.

*Mirror

Shows the 'basic' timers such as breath and feign death, as well as some 'odd' ones such as party invite time, resurrect timeout, and arena game start, and a framework for injecting custom timers into the bars.

*Range

Recolors the casting bar when your cast target moves out of range mid-cast.

*Swing

Displays a swing timer for your melee weapon as well as hunter autoshot.

*Timer

Allows for creating custom timers displayed on the mirror bars.

*Tradeskill Merge

Merges multiple casts of the same tradeskill item into one big cast bar.

Use /quartz to bring up the configuration menu.

I'm having a small issue, and maybe its perhaps that the feature isn't actually in the mod itself. I'm looking for a test bar function so I can move the bars to where they aren't in the way of my other notifications. Am I just missing the option in the addon or is there not one?

  • #1897

open the ui for quartz, /quartz, or go to the interface addons tab in the blizz menu. the uncheck toggle bar lock.

I've encountered something waht i believe to be a bug...playing arms warrior. I have set the melee swing timer. When I use heroic strike, the timer immediately resets, although heroic strike doesn't in fact reset melee swing ... Do i have set something wrong or is it really a bug?

Is there a way to turn off debuffs from other NPCs that are attacking the same target?

For example, during the quest "The Protectors of Hyjal", the friendly NPC's debuffs are showing up on my list and I end up with a huge list that I don't want to see. It confuses me because I only want to see my debuffs/spells.

I've checked the options but I haven't found a way to turn these off.

    Please help!

I recommend you pick up NeedToKnow addon, it's easy to set it up and track your DoTs and Debuffs on enemies, or HoTs and Buffs on friendlies, you can choose which ones you want to track.

I *tried to* configure Quartz so that I could easily track my 3 DoTs on my enemies when playing Shadow Priest but I just couldn't get it clear enough (other debuff bars etc. show up too, and the order of the debuffs depend on which order they were applied in, with NeedToKnow they have fixed locations).

I really hate it how it seems you always need to install a new AddOn whenever you need something done. But that's just how it is I guess!

Edit: Forgot to mention NeedToKnow can also track cooldowns etc., just look it up if you have a need for that kind of AddOn

Does anyone know how to disable blizzards default focus bar?

Currently having to put up with Quartz cast bar over the default, but its slightly annoying seeing a cast bar on top of  one another :(

Is there anyway or a mode to turn on to SEE the bars outside of combat? I am trying to edit the mirror, target, and some other bars, as far as placement, size, and stuff. But it is hard to do this when I can't ever see them unless I am in combat.

  • #1889

All you need to do it type /quartz and toggle bar lock

  • #1887

I have the same problem. It seems impossible to configure this addon without actually being in combat. Most addons of this sort have a "TEST" feature that pops up a generic representation of what you'll see in combat to assist with configuration. This type of feature would be a welcomed addition to this great mod. Thanks.

    This one.

  • #1892

Type /quartz and when the window comes up, click on Toggle Bar Lock.

  • #1886

What do you mean, This one? I was asking for a way to view the bars OUTSIDE of combat and resize and alter them...

Hi, loving the addon, but just having one problem, if anyone knows how to fix it. The cast timer isn't showing it's 'completed' colour on completion of the cast, I'm able to change all of the other colours, but I really would like it to flash green as my cast finishes; in this case cobra shot, so that I know at a glance the shot's done and it's ok to move if I'm in AotH... if anyone can help, thanks a lot.

Edit: The green completed colour works on tradeskills, but not for example on cobra shot or calling mounts, are these two different types of spell that need different settings?

Hi there, brilliant addon, really love it!

Is it possible in a future update to have arena targets cast bars, this would make this addon perfect.

If you ever consider this maybe it would it would easier to script with a universal config for all 5 bars, and unlock them to place them.
