Version 102 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

  • Fixed an issue where map icons were not being removed properly, leading to duplication.

Version 101 - WoD Quests and the new Community Editor!

Over the past few months I have been preparing for WoD, and have also been working hard on a new out-of-game Community Editor tool so that its much easier for everyone to have their input into the QC database, and together make it as accurate as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: At first my primary goal is to ensure there are full and accurate quest listings per zone for WoD, map pins, etc will come after (And support for map pins will be added to the Community Editor).

  • Hopefully most quests are now in the database.
  • There are ALOT of behind the scenes changes, so if I have broken something please let me know.
  • Not all faction\race\class flags are going to be perfect at this stage, so you may want to adjust filters as needed.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Community Editor

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

my favorite questing tool, and recent updates seem to have created a bug that makes it so 99.9% of quest markers don't show up on my map- not only the starter zone, but all zones i look at on the map. i see 3 ! total from all zones.

some info to help, possibly: i just made a draenei monk. first monk on account. i have several other draenei, however.

made a draenei shaman yesterday, on another server, and qc works fine there. the draenei whose qc is not showing markers IS on the same realm as a draenei that has finished many quests. idk if it's pinging her log?

the draenei monk whose quest markers (and the quest list is empty except for one, already completed, starter quest.) aren't showing also has a COMPLETELY unique name- checked the armory, and she's the only toon with this name on WoW, so it doesn't seem it's pinging a previous toon's progress.

i'll be checking back regularly to hope for a fix, so if more details would be helpful, please let me know!

running v100 with all addons and game updated. tried clearing cache. tried deleting quest cache. checked all settings, and they're the same as they are on the toon i started yesterday, whose qc is working.

    thanks!

I have Gsme Version 4.0.6 (Interface: 4000). I would like to know if I download the latest version of this add-on and change the interface number to match mine would it work without any problems? or am I better off just downloading Quest Completist v0.95 because to all ready compatable with 4.0.6 game.

I know I can just click load out-of-date add-ons but normally when I do that with a add-on I get loads of error's all ways popping up. So really I just want to know if there anything in the add-on that will be incompatable with an older version game.

Thanks for any replys or help and sorry about long winded comment just wanted to try and make it clear as I can.

Absolutely great addon with a really beautiful interface :) I love it!

Btw, would be nice if you could add a minimap button instead of /qc command.

I like this addon....when it worksI know what ones I've already done turns Green for completing, so going too the zones, anywhere whether its the new Panda zone or the old ones, the ones I've done are back to white, and that is really annoying me trying to finish the zone quests and oh there's a group I didn't complete yet wait a minute I've done it already. If you don't mind fixing it? you've done it once before. If its gonna be a consistant thing where it loooses track of what I completed then why bother keeping it?

  • #843

When selecting catagories to show, mousing over and clicking the Pandaria Dungeons does nothing. The addon tracks the quests, it will show you if you type in part of the name, but you can't choose to show any Pandaria Instances.

I downloaded the Curse Client, downloaded this AddOn through that software... but on my character screen the "addon" button is not showing. Is there something else I have to do to get this up and running? Thanks.

  • #848

It is now  considered out of date by the game so you have to allow  out of date add-ons to load

  • #847

The add-on does work, but I have to allow outdated add-ons to load

  • #841

That should be all you have to do. Double check your addon folder manually to make sure it has put it in there correctly.

  • #842

    Got it, thanks.

  • #837

This update somehow no longer shows the Stormwind Cooking/Fishing daily quests. But only one character seems to be effected by this… Very strange, can't figure it out.

  • #840

If you clear your cache and run a fresh server query this problem should be solved for that character.

Ok so as my username states I am absolutely clueless at add ons. Is there a way to describe this process of putting these up step by step?

    Thanks
