About Quest Completist

Quest Completist

Enables you to see what quests you have completed, and what ones you still have to do. Supports server query, allowing you to query the blizzard server for all quests you have completed in the past.

Use /qc or /questc to open the main interface, or assign a key binding.

Hold left-shift and click to toggle completed status, hold left-alt and click to toggle unattainable status.

Version 105 - Garrison Pin Removal, Community Editor Thanks

  • Thanks to all members of the community using the Community Editor (Info below). All the quest tweaks you have made are automatically included within this release. Please continue contributing!
  • I have disabled map pins in the Horde and Alliance Garrison zones. These were overly messy, inaccurate due to people having buildings in different places, and were questionably useful as you will pretty much always see a "!" if you are in that zone. Obviously the quests still exist in the quest listings of the UI.

Community Editor Live!

I have hosted my QC database online, and written some software which allows me to generate the Lua code for the addon directly from this central data. This software enables anyone to view the database outside of the game, and also allows the community to contribute corrections if they spot any on their travels (Viewing is available to everyone, you need to contact me for sign on details if you want to save changes). This is obviously completely optional, but your changes are audited then saved directly back to the live database, and will be included in the next iteration of the add-on automatically!

The software can be accessed as a Microsoft ClickOnce application: Here

Still plenty of work to do (Support for map pins, etc on the way), but here is a peek of what the basic quest editor looks like:

Features

  • Lists all quests for each zone.
  • Provides at-a-glance quest feedback, which other similar quest trackers do not. For example a yellow "!" for uncompleted quests, a blue "!" or "?" for Daily and Repeatable quests and so on. This helps prevent confusion, as blizzard never concider Repeatables or Dailys "completed". It also flags special quests as orange, for example the collectors edition quests, or quests which can no longer be done.
  • Automatically switches zones as you travel around the world.
  • Allows you to view or hide quests for the opposing force, or for other classes.
  • Quest tooltips when hovering over them on the QC list.
  • Quest icons will appear on the world map for quest you have not yet completed.
  • Functionality to display what quests are "In Progress" when browsing the quest lists. If a quest is in progress (i.e In your quest log), then you will see either a grey "?" or a yellow "?", reflecting if the quest is "in progress but not complete" or "in progress and ready to hand in".
  • Supports server query.

Any feedback would be great.

I was doing quests that i have not finished an i had my map open, it only showed about 5-7 left to do.  then i went to reopen it and all of a sudden all of my quests were there again.  its like it didnt check to see which quests i had already finished and put them all back on.  i went into the addon area and double check to make sure that the hide completed quests was checked.

I've been getting lots of lag lately.  I started running an addon memory checker to see what was going on and QuestCompletist just keeps creeping up every time I move my character.  I'm having to disable this because after a while it is eating just so much game memory that it can't cope.

Since disabling the addon I've had nowhere near as much lag and no game stuttering every time I enter a new area.

Noone else has reported this issue, and I can't think of any reason why the addon would be causing this. The guts of the logic for the addon is event driven, and therefore won't do any processing until specific events are fired.

It is much more likely that another one of your addons is malfunctioning, spewing out vast quantities of events which the addon is then having to handle. The most likely cause is if another addon is causing a huge amount of WORLD_MAP_UPDATE events (I have seen TomTom sometimes cause this). You can try and test for the problem by logging in and typing \eventtrace.

Would you consider adding a key bind to toggle Show Map Icons on and off? Please?

If there is 1 already I sure can't find it.

Also Bonfire & Flamekeeper quests show up, even though the event is not live.

Is there a way to hide uncompleted quests on the map, which are sequels to another quest ? It kind of sucks to have quests on the map that you can not accept cause you haven't done the pre quest for them.

I know its a neccesary thing to keep it there but please, make it so the text "Updated Data Found, Please Contribute!" doesn't show up in the quest accept / complete screen. Using another addon which requires me to click on a very small spot since the text is not click through.

Instead of showing up there make it show up in chat or be toggleable.

What is the other addon you are using?

I'm having the same problem of quest markers for completed quests showing up on my map.  I have been using QC since Cata and it was working fine until MOP.  Now, all of the quests that were completed and their marker removed from the map are back on the map.  I have done three or four server quesries to no avail.  The markers will not go away.

I am having the same problem.  For some reason it is worse for me in The Jade Forest than the other zones.

  • #795

Just downloaded this and it looks great! Have done a server query and things look fine for the high level zones but it says I haven't completed any quests in low level Elwyn Forest, which I must have done when levelling? Is this because they were literally done years ago? If so is there any way to mark them as completed?

Also there are some quests that are shown on the map that I know I have done, and when I get there, no quest is available and nothing is shown on the WOW mini map..? What gives? I don't want to spend time flying off to complete a missed quest in Outland only to find it is not available?

  • #796

It shouldn't matter how long ago the quests where completed, they should still be reported back when the server query completes. I have noticed that for some reason Blizzard seem to be doing alot of throttling when it comes to the API to return the quests. I will have to look into this in more detail, however I suggest you log in and play for 20 minutes or so, then run another server query.

  • #793

Hey I just downloaded as well I know you mentioned something about throttling. I've been at my computer for a bit now and no message? Is it just a wait and see sort of thing? Should I just go afk and let it keep running?

  • #794

If you run a query and you dont get the fully message in chat, stay logged in for about 20 minutes, then try again. It won't automatically attempt again after the throttle period, you actually have to perform the query yourself.

  • #790

I just downloaded v99.9. I can't get it to filter out completed quests no matter what I do. I get a complete list of all quests in the zone, but when I select Hide Completed it makes no difference. Specifically I am in Towlong Steppes trying to find the quests I missed for the zone achievment.
